Problems Again

Alex was talking a bath. It was two weeks after the turn of those unfortunate events. Catherine and Alex haven't talked much, since then. Alex needed Catherine, he did not want to lose her. He was ready to forgive, but he couldn't come up with words while confronting her. Catherine also wanted to talk, but her feelings kept her from talking.

"BANG!" , Alex hears a loud crashing sound of something heavy falling on the floor. He turns off the shower and covered himself with a towel. He was almost running to where the sound was heard from. Catherine was lying there on the floor, unconscious. Alex's heart started pounding faster. Was she pregnant?

"Anybody here with Catherine?", the nurse queried. "I am", Alex called out. Alex was sure that Catherine was pregnant with Steve's baby. He needed to figure out how to tackle this situation. "Hi, I'm Hanna", the doctor was talking to Alex. "Nothing to worry about Catherine, she's fine. It was a blackout, probably caused due to the pressure and depression from her work, maybe. Or the after effects of any other shocks, she had lately." the doctor paused for Alex to speak. "I thought she was pregnant", Alex blurted out. The doctor was amused. She hided her smile and continued "Well, there were no signs of pregnancy. Were you expecting...", Alex interrupted "No, I was just... just asking a... a general question", he stammered.

Alex and Catherine were back at their residence. "Alex, we need to talk", Catherine demanded. Alex looked into her eyes, they were the most beautiful eyes that made him stare into, for hours. He could see the serious look in it. "Go on", Alex responded. "Listen, I don't want to make the situation awkward, but I want to talk about Steve", Catherine continued. "There is nothing between us. It was just a one time thing. No, it was just... I don't know how it happened. I lost it, for a few moments. But I love you. I am so sorry" and she started crying "I want you to forgive me. Please... please give me a chance", Catherine tried to go on, but couldn't make it because of her crying. Alex drew her close and hugged her. "I forgive you", he said tears rolling down his cheeks.

Alex's phone starts to ring. He takes the phone from his pocket and sees an unknown number. Catherine hugs him more intimately. He attends the call with one hand. "Hello, Alex", a joyful voice speaks out. "Hello?", Alex responds. "I hope you remember me", the voice says. "Sorry, But...", Alex gets interrupted "I'm Steve, Steve Rivon."
