7 Sights to be seen

After a long exhausting day at the beach, we reach the hotel in the evening. I'm so tired, I think my legs will crumble into pieces. At the beach I met a group of French people and played volleyball with them for hours. I hear a growl coming from my stomach.

"I know baby, we need food." I whisper to my stomach in the empty elevator. I don't know where Nathan is. We reached the hotel together, but I lost track of him once we entered it. I think I'm getting used to his ignorance. Well, as they say, ignorance is bliss. It's also somewhat the key to boredom. I thought he and I could at least be friends but his ego has managed to create a thick wall between us.

The elevator stops on the third floor and I see Nathan and some other people climb on. He stands next to me, maintaining a considerable distance as usual, but that's a good thing, of course. After a minute, I could feel a gaze on me, it was not Nathan for sure. A man, who appeared to be quite older than me was staring at me. I look down and realize that my top was very loose and kinda see through. Shit! I should have changed into the clothes in which I went to the beach. Ours is the top floor, so the man has plenty of time to enjoy the show. Anger raised inside me. I wanted to punch him in the face. Douche bag!

I did the most sensible thing I could think of. I took some steps back, so that Nathan blocked his sight. Nathan turned and looked at me then he looked in front again. Somehow I get the feeling he is aware of the situation. I feel sad that he is not helping me out. The man shifts towards me, his gaze now on my back side. This is super uncomfortable. The elevator stops on the next floor and people start to leave. I feel a hand on my waist, flinching I try to hit the man but he grabs my hand.

"It's me." Nathan says calmly. "Hug me, now!" he leans and whispers in my ear. I do as I am told and put my arms around him. He makes me take a step back so that we are both confined in the corner. I look up slightly and see that the old man presses the button of the next floor. I sigh a relief and bury my head in Nathan's shoulder. The next few seconds were the longest seconds for all three of us, Nathan and I continued to hold tight on each other. The plan was to pose a intimate scene so that the man knows who I am with. Nathan strokes me hair, kissing them every now and then for the next few seconds. I melt in his arms and he is well aware of the fact. As soon as the door opens, the man moves out and he releases me.

"T-thank you very much, Nathan." I say to him. He says nothing.

"You know, I didn't expect that you will notice him." I continue, "He made me so uncomfortable." Still, no reply came from him. He is like a superhero who only speaks when you are in danger. Well, whom am I comparing him to! He is nowhere near a superhero. We finally reach our floor and I rush into our- my room.

"Will you eat anything?" I ask Nathan as I open the menu card.

"Order whatever you like." he said as he took off his shoes. He lets out a deep sigh and then throws himself on the bed. Must be tired. I order the food.

I enter the washroom and change into pajamas and t shirt. When I come out I find Nathan sleeping peacefully on the bed. I hear a knock on the door. Ahh, my love is here!! Food!! The room service boy situates the food tray on the table. I turn around to wake Nathan but he was sound asleep.

"Nathan," I shake him slightly. He turns in his sleep but doesn't wake up, "Nathan, get up, food is here. Eat something then you can go back to sleep." It's like talking to a wall. I roll my eyes and try once more. After another try I decide to let him sleep. But he looked so uncomfortable. Should I do something? I try to push him up the bed but he is too damn heavy. So I lift his legs and lay him down properly on the bed. Then I cover him with the blanket.

I switch on the TV on a low volume, careful not to disturb his sleep and eat my food. After eating I throw myself on the couch and watch TV.

I wake up to someone shaking me. It's David.

"Wake up, April." he smiles at me, "Good morning!"

"Morning!" I smile back sleepily.

"Wanna go for site seeing, today?" he asks me.

"Sure, where?" I sit up.

"Mr Walsh plans to go to the museum today."

"Okay, when does he leave?"

"You have plenty of time, we'll leave after breakfast."

"Okay. Thank you, David."

"Your welcome, April." he smiles and leaves the room. I check the clock, it's 9:30 in the morning. I'm all alone in the room. I throw myself in the washroom and take a long shower. Since, there is no one in the room I wrap a towel around me and re- enter the room. I am startled by Nathan's sudden presence.

"Nathan," I gasp as I see him and grab hold of my towel. He looks at me and then continue to do whatever he was doing on his laptop. I quickly get my clothes and rush into the bathroom.

When I come back, he is gone. I throw myself on the couch again, I surf through my phone but find nothing interesting. Arghhhh!! I'm so bored!! I have no one to talk to! I have nothing to do! Is this how rest of my life will be? I'm so irritated!! I'm just trying so hard to make this normal but nothing works on him!! It's just so frustrating! I throw my head back and close my eyes. After a minute, I hear a knock on the door.

"April, the breakfast is ready, you can come down." David enters the room.

"No, thank you, David, I'm not hungry."

"But, we have a long schedule planned today."

"Pack something for me, will you?"

"Sure. Anything in particular?"

"No, where is he?"

"Mr Walsh is sitting in the lobby, he'll be coming up soon."

I continue to lay on the couch and then my phone rang. It's Venessa!

"Hi April. How's my new sister doing?" she asks.

"Getting bored." I roll my eyes.

The smile on Gemma's face vanishes and I feel bad. I should not have told the truth.

"Nathan giving you a hard time?"

"No, no! Not at all!" I say, "He is awesome! Just too wonderful, caring, loving."

"So, he is not mad at you anymore?"

"Oh come on, do you really think a boy can stay mad at me? I mean haven't you seen my greatness?"

"Oh yeah," Venessa laughs, "I have also seen your sexy body."

"Oh I know, I'm just too great for my own good!" I flick back my hair.

Venessa laughs hard, "But seriously, how's everything?"

"Not bad, don't worry." I give her a smile.

"When are you guys coming back? I have so much to tell you and know about you!!"

"I'd say hopefully soon."

"Oh alright. Actually, I gotta go, I'll talk to you later. Bye!"

"Bye!" I smile and disconnect the phone. I sigh and then Nathan walks in.

"Morning," I say to him.

"What do you need?" he snaps.

"Uh- nothing." I say, "Actually, I wanted to ask you something."

"If it's my credit card number, you are not getting it." The words stab inside me like a sharp knife. How can he even think so low of me? I feel so bad and angry.

"When are we leaving?" I push my emotions aside and ask.

"Why, so that once you reach there, you can live like a queen in my house?"

"You know Nathan, for the last time, I didn't marry you because of your money! I belong to a well off family!! I don't need to beg money from anybody!!" I yell at him. He let's out a dark chuckle.

"Nathan, do you realize that you ignoring me or taunting me isn't going to make anything better!!" I continue yelling at me.

"I have nothing to say to you." he says with disgust, "We leave day after tomorrow." he says and leaves the room. My head throbs as I rethink about everything that has happened. I bury my face in the pillow. After a while, I hear a knock at the door.

"Who's it?"

"It's me, David. Are we ready to go, April?"

"Yes, come in." the door opens and I see David in casual jeans and T-shirt instead of his uniform suit, "Did Nate give you an off for the day?"

"No," he smiles, "Just that we are going for site seeing so I can take a break from my uniform. You want something to eat?"

"Yes, please."

"I guessed so. Come in." he orders and a hotel guy comes in with a tray full of food, "Also I should tell you he hates when people call him Nate. Just call him Nathan."

"Okay, I'll keep that in mind. Did he eat anything?" I ask David. He hasn't eaten anything since yesterday night.

"No, he said he wasn't hungry."

"Please give him something to eat too. He hasn't eaten anything since yesterday night."

"Alright, sure. Should I call for him?"

"No. Where is he?"

"He is in the lobby. He looks a little stressed, is everything okay?"

"I guess." I shrug my shoulders, "Make sure he eats something, please."

"Don't you worry." he says and leaves the room. I quietly eat my breakfast. After I'm finished I go down to the lobby and find Nathan sitting there. I see an empty food tray in front of him. Cool.

We leave in another 15 minutes. On the way neither Nathan nor me talk to each other or to David. Quietly we drive to the museum. I read about it in Dan Brown's novels and it sounded awesome there. But, it's a novel so a little hyperbole is a must there. Our guide meets us at the entrance.

"Bonjour, monsieur, madame," he meets us and opens Nathan's gate while David opens mine. I get out to see the infamous pyramid.

"Wow!" I say delightfully, "Beautiful!" David smiles at my bewildered look. We start to tour the museum and I have a hard time hiding my excitement. I see the most wonderful things of the world and I realise that writers like Dan Brown don't use hyperbole so easily.

As the guide tells us facts about Mona Lisa I couldn't help but gasp. I hear a laugh from behind me and see Nathan and David laughing at me. I puff my cheeks and pretend to be mad at them for laughing at me. David tries to control his laughter at my childish behavior but he couldn't help it. When we leave the museum after clicking tons of photographs, it's almost 5 o'clock in the evening.

"David, I'm hungry!" I whine as he opens the door for me.

"Alright, we will pick something on the way." he replies.

I give him a cheeky smile and sit in the car. While I enjoy the view outside, Nathan and David talk about random stuff and business. When we pass by a MacDonald's my mouth begins to fill with water.

"David!" I say.

"Mrs Walsh, we heading towards Le Cinq, it's one of the most famous restaurants in Paris." he answers.

"Okay," I hear a groan, but it's not from my stomach. I look at Nathan and start laughing.

"Looks like I am not the only one who is hungry." I say between my laughter. I can see his cheeks turn red from embarrassment. Aww!
