4 Chapter #4: The Calm Before The Storm

{JUNGKOOK'S POINT OF VIEW}

Today's the day. Today will determine my fate. I don't know what is stored for me next, but due to my recent nightmare, I've lost all the fun and anticipation I had towards this day.

People say that the dreams that occur in the morning are likely to come true. Just by the thought of my dreams coming true sends chills down my spine.

I was walking towards the stage; people were settling down into their seats and there was a large number of people who haven't arrived here. I felt a hand on my arm and I turned to see who it was, my old friend, whom I had since high school, Min Y/N, Yoongi hyung's sister. I couldn't help but smile the brightest I have since...ever.

"Hi! We haven't met in a long time. Ah, you're smiling like you never saw me! Look at that smile and the cute face. No wonder you earned the name Bunny and look at you, you even live up to that name. Probably more than enough to have that nickname." She exclaimed, with a cheerful smile on her face that I thought I wouldn't ever see again.

"Ahh, I've got a name worthy of myself and I do need to work to maintain that name. I didn't get that name for no reason." I told her, giving her an even brighter smile.

"Ahh, the brightness of that smile really outshines anyone else."

"It may outshine everyone else's, but you always have the brightest smile, according to me."

"Aish, stop talking nonsense! You know that you are perfect at all angles, stop trying to make yourself less capable than you actually are!"

"Alright then. I am fabulous," I said, adding a fake hair wipe, "I am the one and only Justin Seagull."

"Ha! That's more like it. Let's go and look for the refreshments area. I am famished." She stated, putting her free hand on her stomach and made a pleading face, with a pout. I laughed, then walked with her the long way, searching for the refreshments table. While walking, I was smiling and I was aware of it, for the fact that her left arm was still entangled into mine. Maybe, the past feelings haven't made their way out her heart and were still hidden, somewhere in there. Maybe it's the same thing with me. But for all I know, we still had something for each other, though it was never in front of us in the form of words.

After a while of walking around and eating, we heard the host call for all the guests to make their way to the auditorium and take their places.

"Looks like we have to head back." I looked at her, watching her hair fall on her face, making her look even more breathtaking.

She put the hair strand back behind her ear and looked up at me. I loved the way her eyes twinkled when she looked at me.

"Yeah, let's go." Her arm left mine and walked a few steps ahead of me. When we arrived at the auditorium, she went ahead to her mom and took her place.

I went ahead and walked down the left aisle, occasionally apologizing to whoever's foot I stepped on, as I slowly made my way up the small set of stairs and onto the platform, taking my place next to my dad, who was giving a prolonged speech on the history on our company. I noticed that there was a big rectangular prism covered in light pink cloth. That must be the project. I didn't expect it to be so...big.

Instead of paying attention to his speech (it was very boring), my eyes drifted towards the crowd presented before us, looking through to find a familiar face. In the first row, sitting in front of the stand was my mom. I caught her eye and she gave me an okay hand sign with an impressed expression. I looked down, my cheeks warming up. I looked back at her, hiding my face a little, trying not to let her notice the color of my cheeks. Then she pointed down on her right, my left and down a few rows in that direction was Y/N sitting down. My eyes quickly darted back at my mom and she smirked. I had to divert my eyes from her, now that my cheeks have gone past multiple shades of pink and entered the color expanse of red.

I focused back on my dad's speech.

".... And now comes the moment you all have been waiting for. I present to you, the far best project accomplished by the Jeon Tech Industries LTD., the first ever, done by no one before, the humane robot!" As he finished the sentence, the curtain from prism came off to show a human, no, a human-looking robot. It looked so human. Flashing lights were now everywhere, everyone wants to have a picture of it and the new reporter cameras are going crazy. Well, after all, this was going to be the hot topic that will appear at the front page of the newspaper.

"Calm your cameras down. First, I will talk about its features and then, a visual test to show its functionality," He said as my phone rang. I stared at its surface, it read Taehyung.

Oh, they must need something.

"Dad," I whispered in his ear, "I need to take this call." He nodded his head in response.

"Come here back fast." I nodded and ran off out of the auditorium and into another room, which ended up being the dining hall on the other side of the hall where the auditorium was. I walked towards the empty table in front of me and pulled the chair aside.

"Hello?"

"Yeah, Jungkook, how is everything? Is it fine?" Yoongi hyung asked.

"Yeah, it is. It's mostly boring, but I'm not bored to death, so it's fine. Is everything fine there?"

"No, just wanted to check up on you." There was silence on the other side of the call, with some mumbling. "You know what is going to happen tonight, right?" Namjoon hyung said, lowering his voice.

"Yeah, kinda nervous," I said, rubbing the back of my neck with my left hand.

"Don't be. This is for your good and we all are here to support you." Hoseok said.

"No hyung, that's not all. Last night, well, Dad said some weird stuff to me. Not only that, but I had a weird dream last night and it scared the shit out of me." I informed them.

"First of all, stop cursing. You're ruining your naive tongue," Jin hyung said, pausing to let out a cheery laugh.

"Second of all, a dream is just a dream. It's not like it'll come true." Yoongi hyung said clearly bored out of his mind due to my stupid statement.

"And last but not least, stop stressing your ass so much. You'll get white hairs way before 40!" Namjoon hyung said.

"Aish Namjoon-ah, what did I just say about cursing!" Jin hyung yelled at Namjoon hyung. I couldn't help but laugh.

From the other side, I could hear Jimin hyung laughing to death and Hoseok hyung's face scrunched, but to excessive laughing. Taehyung was laughing, though he must be trying to quieten it, it didn't seem to work.

"Yaaah, Jungkook-ah, are you laughing at Namjoon getting scolded by Jin hyung?" Hoseok hyung asked, between laughing fits.

"Yes hyung, you can hold me guilty on that account," I replied.

"Jungkookie, how could you?" Namjoon hyung screeched.

Jimin hyung and Hoseok hyung just started another round of laughing.

"Ah, sorry hyung," I said, looking down.

"It's ok. It was bound to happen." Namjoon hyung said.

"Jungkookie, be ready for tonight, huh?" Yoongi hyung asked, with a hint of doubt, but with curiosity, after a long time.

"Yeah.....kinda....no....maybe.....I don't know!" I screamed through my teeth.

"Whatever. Be ready by fifteen past midnight. We'll be waiting for you a few yards on the right of your mansion.....home, whatever you call that thing." Yoongi hyung added.

"That thing...I like that name." I laughed.

But once you do this, there may be no coming back," Jimin hyung said.

"Yeah, but I'm willing to do it," I said, my voice trailing off the end of the sentence.

"Yes, Jungkook, see you soon," Taehyung said.

"See you soon, hyungs," I said, finally looking up from the piece of cloth I was staring at on the table and my gaze went to the chandelier.

"Bye Jungkookie." Everyone replied in unison.

"Fighting!" Jimin hyung, Hoseok hyung, and Taehyung said together

I ended the call and were about to turn around on my heel when I heard the first gunshot go off.
