13 Stalin visits India

After the UN meeting ended, two days later, Stalin came to visit India in person, unlike USA which has been communicating through ambassadors.

As USA and India has been growing closer with the biggest textile manufacturing hub being built in Bengal with USA's aid, USSR can't be left behind.

Whoever gets India into an alliance will have a major leap in becoming a superpower. India wasn't the Crown Jewel of British Empire for nothing. While the technologies like refrigeration have drastically reduced the dependence on Indian spices in preserving food, the most important thing India has for USSR right now is it's strategic location.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands, they can be used to block majority of trade around the world, and if ROC wins the Chinese Civil War, its major oil supply along with Japan's.

Plus, having a country that has the first or second largest population on your side can never be a bad thing. If anything, you can get a huge number of soldiers standing with you. More so if it has such a huge coastline in the Indian Ocean.

"Namaste, Comerade Stalin. Welcome to India."

The translator translated what the Indian Prime Minister said from English to Russian, and Stalin was pleased by being called 'comerade'.

"Privet, Comerade Banerjee."

So, they started discussing things over dinner. It first started with general talks about the UN resolution.

"If Britain tries anything, don't worry. You can trust us to back India."

It was Stalin's indirect way of implying that USA can't be trusted in case of conflict between the two countries, since UK is USA's biggest ally.

"I am happy that we can trust USSR. Even though UK is in shambles after the Second European War, it is pretty much the same as Nazi. It wouldn't be farfetched for it to attack us."

Stalin didn't really agreed to it, but he nodded along. Britain has a big Navy, so he wouldn't want to go on war with it personally. But providing arms, even at a discount was something USSR will readily do right now. The newly developed AK-47 will surely dominate India's rifle market. And its tanks are almost on par with Nazi Germany now.

"Comerade Stalin, I must tell you this honestly. We want no part in the Cold War between USSR and USA. We don't want to end up in China's situation. What India wants the most from both countries is a treaty of non-interference and being a neutral country. We want the war with Pakistan to be the last.

Something like Switzerland, but we are ready to interact with both superpowers. India wants to trade in things like oil, arms and military equipments, and friendly relations with USSR, and also trade with the USA in business and other stuff.

We plan to implement socialism in the villages, and let capitalism develop in the cities. Unless we are attacked, we won't be able to use military power for some decades. The best we can do right now is trade, diplomacy for peace, and fighting against British propaganda.

We plan to reduce outside interfere in Asia, which has suffered for centuries at the hands of Europeans. But atleast until we are stable, have atleast the fifth largest economy and reduced poverty, we won't take any part in any offensive war."

"Of course."

Stalin internally sighed. He thought that this person will be different from Gandhi, but he forgot that he didn't launch an armed rebellion against the british. It was Non-Cooperation and Britain Out.

Well, having a stable ally in the heart of Indian Ocean will also be good. For now, he will have to wait until UK attacks India.

"So,..."

They discussed general geopolitics, Chinese Civil War, energy and trade. India welcomed USSR to set up its textile companies' production mills in Bengal, but it was not like USSR will betray it's workers like the USA.

The meeting ended on a peaceful note, with Stalin receiving a Pashmina Shawl and Indian woolen scarf, and Satyankar receiving an AK-47.

As Stalin departed to return to his country, he was confident that USSR will get a very big order for those guns.

For now, he will continue spreading communism through the political parties in India. And see what happens until the war against Britain and Pakistan.
