1 Old friend.

CHAPTER ONE

I rub both my arms, as cold night air hits my shivering body, october is nearing, and rainy days are dominating the weather, nothing new for new york."Jeren?, is that you?."A voice boomed, snapping me out of my train of thoughts.

I looked up, trying to find where the voice came from, but in vain.

"Im here silly."The voice giggled, finally I looked to my left. sindy.

A smile instantly formed on my face and waved my hand."sindy!, yeah its me."

sindy smiled rushing towards me to pull my cold body in a hug, I laughed and hugged her back."When did you arrive here?."I asked, pulling away.

sindy was my roommate at the university back then, we have sadly parted when I was forced to move here in new york and drop school."just last week, I didn't thought we would meet, I mean new york is huge. oh my god its been a while!."

I chuckled nodding my head."how have you been?" I asked.

"well...I have just accepted a job offer here and moved down the block, I hope I can see you more often now, right?."

down the block, I laughed at the coincidence.

"My house is down the block, I'd love for you to visit and bother me for a while like good old times." I joked, and together, we both laughed.

"why don't we moved this conversation at the cafe across the road, hmh?."sindy suggested, and I nod my head, and we talked for a while.

it turns out that she and shun started dating a month after I left, then got engage after graduating college. she got a job back at paris but left because of money shortage and bankruptcy, then that's when she moved here for her new job. sindy have always been an honor student, so she never really got any troubles finding a job.

" oh my god, I can't believe its been three years since you left, everything wasn't really the same since you left the university, the cheerleaders will not cooperate with the new captain and kept rebelling with practice time."

sindy explained, a smile always planted on her lips, clearly it doesn't need a specialist to tell that her last three years was a bliss. I nodded my head, taking a sip from my coffee." I really miss the group, where are they now?." I asked." well, daniel is now an intern at a law firm, Claudia is now a data science, while miko is a landscape designer.

by the way, we didn't got in contact with you, why did you deactivated your instagram?."She asked, raising her brows.

chuckling, I answered her question."I don't have any social media right now, I was really having a hard time blending in at new york that I stopped using social media's."

sindy made and 'O' shape and nodded her head. the whole afternoon we catched up, and it made me realize how much I really missed my friends. I was missing out too much."well, can I have you number?, maybe I'll pass it to the group."Sindy trialed off, I laughed giving her my phone while she fumbled with hers.

"its was nice meeting you jeren, can we have lunch tomorrow?, to maybe talk?."

i nod my head, taking back my phone."sure, that'll be great." I smiled, we both stood up and hugged each other.

"catch you later." She giggled pulling away and grabbing her sling bag.

I smiled nodding my head, as she gave me one last smile before heading to the exit of the cafe."bye."

Sighing, I put my coat back on and walked towards my house.

today was my day off, I planned to spend my time alone, but it seemed fate got better plans. Getting to think of it, How much did I really miss?. my life back at paris was really awesome, group of friends high grades and more, but my mom got promoted and is force to move here, new york is nice, but people are...overwhelming with new fashion trends, high expectations and trendy finds that made me hard to catch up.

I also started university here, graduated with honors and started a job as a teacher at a public school nearby.

of course it wasn't that good, but it was what I really wanted since the start, to have normal life. I unlocked my door, opening the lights and headed towards the counter.

my house isn't that big, just a two storey house, a small picket fence, small garden, living room, two bathrooms, one bedroom a kitchen and a terrace that overlooked the busy streets below.

to say it was homey was an underestimate, I love just how I designed it.

i grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and took a sip, I never got any time to dk groceries even on weekends, and I always end up having cereal.

i sighed, grabbing my grocery list and bag.

making sure to have everything under the list, I checked the bathroom and added some things on the list, as well as my toiletries.

I then spent my afternoon on the department and grocery store, looking through things I might need for work and daily needs that I missed, sometimes I miss being a teenager, having to limits and boundary's, living a life getting drunk, fishing, and parties.

I chuckled, shaking my head.

after I was done, I got everything on the truck and headed back home.

guess I'll get that day off next month, by the time I was done it was already dark, I'll have to cook dinner when I'll get home.

i sighed, starting the engine and reversing, driving out the parking lot.

I drove for a good ten minute before my house finally came into view.

I then parked and brought the things I bought from the mall inside.

I cooked dinner, took a shower and headed down for food. I smiled at how my life was so boring, yet what I dreamed of three years ago.

no drama, dull, and normal life.

oh right, mom is coming for dinner tomorrow night. I sighed, relaxing back at mg seat.

I have to clean the mess around and rearrange a dew things to make my house look presentable and not just comfortable.

i sighed.
