3 Oscorp

I had totally forgotten to check if quests are a feature in the system earlier. I guess seeing all the things that weren't implemented, I had subconsciously assumed that quests wouldn't be either.

Ignoring that, I had received a quest to find and get bitten by a radioactive spider which I, of course, accepted considering there was almost no penalty for failure, and I was going to do it anyway.

Getting a class for the reward is great since right now, I am classless and unable to level up. My only hope is that I would be able to gain xp once I get a class, instead of the system just telling me that leveling up is not even a feature yet.

With our bus parked, I get up, following the rest of my classmates outside where Curtis Connors is already waiting for us.

Once everyone is out and have formed a semi-circle around him, he starts talking. "Welcome students of… class 12-A from Bayville High School, I believe." He looks at our teacher, who gives Curtis a nod.

"My name is Curtis Connors, but as I will be guiding you through some of the projects here at Oscorp today, feel free to call me doctor Curt." He says, hands in the pockets of the very typical white lab coat he is wearing.

"Now, everyone, follow me and keep close. Don't touch anything I don't specifically tell you to touch. I will remind you now that Oscorp is not responsible for any damages that you may incur due to your own carelessness or inability to follow rules. All of your parents have already signed a contract for this. It's why you are allowed here in the first place."

Finished with his little warning, doctor Curt turns around and starts walking towards the front entrance without another word, as the teacher ushers the rest of us to follow after him.

Did aunt May also sign that contract? I can't remember anything like that from Peter's memories, so maybe I can sue Oscorp after getting bit by the spider?

Well, that would reveal my identity too soon. I don't really like the secret identity thing Spider-man and heroes from DC have going on, so I don't plan to keep my mask on for long, but I would rather wait until I get some power before revealing myself.

Entering through the electric doors, we arrive at the bustling lobby of the Oscorp Tower with employees hurrying about their business. Some briefly stop to greet doctor Curt and Harry, but none even bother to look at the rest of us.

We are led to a dressing room where we are told to leave our outwear clothes, and there I see myself in the mirror for the first time today. To my surprise, I look pretty much exactly like Tom Holland from MCU's spider-man, except maybe a bit younger.

After putting away our excess clothes, Curt gives us his speech about not touching anything without permission again, but clearly, nobody is listening anymore. Seeing the futility of it, he gives up and decides to just guide us to the elevators so we can get started with the tour.

It takes several trips as the elevators can only hold around five people simultaneously, and with other employees looking to use them as well, we just have to wait around for a good opportunity. Why couldn't we just use the stairs? It's not like we're going all that high anyway.

What made it all the more boring is that Gwen went up with the first batch of students while I was last, so I didn't even have anyone to talk to the whole time, I guess I could have tried speaking to others, but I never really was all that social.

I think at least, I still don't remember anything from my past life other than entertainment like animes or Marvel.

With all of us finally upstairs, Curt leads us to a well-protected sealed-off room before stopping in front of it.

"Before we go in this room, have you all heard of the story of Captain America?" He asks, and everyone nods. It would be a miracle to find any American that hasn't heard of the war hero.

Continuing on, he says, "Then I am sure you all also know of the Super Soldier Serum and how we no longer know how to make it due to the last vials being destroyed after turning Steve Rogers into the only super-soldier."

I see that part of history is closer to the movies than the comics. I think there were a lot more super soldiers than Steve Rogers in the comics. There were, of course, others in the MCU as well, but they were either left out of the history books or created much later after the end of WW2.

Opening the door and leading us inside, Curt says, "Oscorp is one of the leading companies that has taken on the task of recreating the Super Soldier Serum, and while we are not quite there yet, we should be able to finalize it within the next 20 years."

Going through, we are in a small room, almost like an airlock. There is a large window through which we can see a lab full of scientists in white coats. "Here, you can see the leading people who are working on the recreation of the Serum. Their work includes…"

Curt goes on to explain in-depth about the work they do here and some of the methods they have used so far. Naturally, he keeps most of the process secret.

Looking beside me, Gwen seems to be focused on everything the doctor says, even pulling out a notepad to write stuff down. I, on the other hand, am not very interested.

Having the Serum would be useful, but most of what he is saying sounds like complete gibberish to me. Clearly, I won't be developing this myself, not without the system's help, at least.

[DING!]

[This feature has yet to be implemented into the system.]

Okay, so maybe there is some hope.

Looking at the scientists moving around, carrying vials containing liquids of all kinds of different colors, I notice that one of them looks slightly familiar.

He doesn't seem to be doing much work himself but is instead coordinating all the others, probably their boss. Focusing on him more for several seconds, some windows pop out in front of me.

[DING!]

[New skill created - Observe]

------------------------------

[Name - Otto Octavius]

[Description - A normal human]

------------------------------

That really isn't a lot of information, but I know why he seemed familiar now. I do recall him working at Oscorp before becoming Doctor Octopus.

Ignoring Otto, I looked up the new skill I got.

------------------------------

[Observe - Active] (Level 1 - 1%)

Provides very basic information on the target.

------------------------------

Well, ain't that the truth. This does bring up an interesting feature though, I can create skills.

When I get some free time, I will have to experiment and see what other skills I can create. Pretty much any skills would be helpful to me right now.

After a long time, Curt finally concludes his lecture leading us out of the room, "Now let us go see some of the other projects we have here at Oscorp regarding the modifications of animal DNA."

Hell yeah, that would include radioactive spiders, I hope.
