6 Meeting Mutants

It feels like math class lasted forever as I even had time for a brief nap, but finally, I am woken up by the school bell ringing, signaling the end of the class.

When I open my eyes, everyone is already busy packing their bags and bolting out of the classroom as if their life depended on it.

"What's happening?" I ask Gwen, who is packing her things just as fast as the others.

"Teacher said whoever is last to leave will have to stay and help clean the classroom, alright bye now, good luck!" She finishes packing her things and runs out.

Quickly I join the rest in putting my things away and rushing out of the classroom. Thankfully I am not the last one, as there seem to be others who were taking a nap and failed to wake up in time.

Going into the hallway, I am swept into the endless flow of students heading home. While being pushed along with the others, I think about how I'm going to stop someone random I don't even know to talk with them.

Eventually, I decided on a foolproof plan of going closer to the wall where I wouldn't be constantly carried along with all the students and simply stop someone who looks somewhat friendly and approachable.

What will I do after stopping the person? No clue, I'm banking on me thinking better under pressure.

Just as I am about to reach the wall, someone in a particular hurry shoves me out of the way to a direct collision course with another student. Through my newly developing habit of using Observe on everything, I get a fleeting glimpse of who they are.

[Name - Anna Marie (Rogue)]

[Description - A meta-human]

Well, meta-human is undoubtedly a much better alternative name for mutant, but more importantly, I'm in deep shit right now. It probably isn't in my best interests to touch Rogue in any way.

As I am only less than a meter away from her and unable to stop, I close my eyes and prepare for the coming pain. Fortunately, before I reach Rogue, another hand grabs me, stopping me in my tracks.

"Hey, back off, buddy. Keep your hands to yourself." The girl who grabbed me says. I use Observe on her as well.

------------------------------

[Name - Katherine Pryde (Kitty Pryde)]

[Description - A meta-human]

------------------------------

[Observe skill leveled up!]

Oh, hey, my constant invasion of privacy is finally paying off!

"Hey, It's not my fault! Someone pushed me." I say, pointing at the guy who pushed me aside in his haste. He seemed to have stopped and turned around to come back to us.

"KURT!" Kitty yells angrily after noticing the person who pushed me.

------------------------------

[Name - Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler)]

[Description - A meta-human with the ability to teleport.]

[Affiliation - X-men]

------------------------------

Oh, the description has gotten a bit more extensive with the Observation skill leveling up, and I can also see their affiliation now.

Right now, Kurt looks like a normal human, just like anyone else, rather than the blue devilish-looking beast I remember him as. I wonder how they managed to hide his mutation. Did Beast's research succeed?

Anyway, getting back on track, I pushed down my excitement at meeting more official characters from Marvel and decided to see what kind of excuse Kurt is going to make for almost revealing Rogue's mutant powers to the public.

"Whoah, whoah, hold your claws, kitty cat, I'm sorry, okay. I was just in a hurry." Kurt waves his hands around, dodging the unhinged Kitty. I stand next to Rogue, watching it all go down.

"You want some?" Rogue asks, presenting me a bag of chips. She definitely didn't have that bag in hand a second ago,

"Um… sure?" I take one chip but seeing as Rogue isn't taking away the bag, I expect she wants me to take more. After grabbing a handful more, she seems satisfied and pulls back the bag. "This sort of thing happens often?"

"Eh? Have you been living under a rock? This is a daily occurrence at the school, those two look for any opportunity to pick a fight with each other. You just gotta wait until they get tired, then they will stop." Well, seeing as none of the other students are even bothering to look twice at the scene the two are creating, she is probably right.

I can't tell if Kitty and Kurt hate each other's guts or just get along really, really well.

"My name is Anna, by the way. Those two are Kitty and Kurt." She introduces herself.

"My name is Peter. Nice to meet you," I say, presenting my right hand. Wait, I did that naturally, but is it normal to shake hands when trying to meet new people and make friends?

It seems as though I was just overthinking again as Rogue wipes her hand clean from the chip crumbs against her clothes before shaking my hand and going right back to watching Kitty and Kurt fight.

Looking closely at Rogue now, I don't think I was ever in trouble of being exposed to her mutant powers since other than her face, there is almost no exposed skin.

She is wearing an almost gothic style outfit with pretty much everything being colored black, a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and even some thin gloves.

Seeing me look at her clothes, Roguegives me a sly grin, "Oh, what's this, Peter? We just met, and you are already checking me out?" Is that what it looked like I was doing?

"Oh, sorry, that wasn't my intention. I was just looking at your, uh... unique sense of style?" I started off strong but fumbled at the end, making my statement sound more like a question in an attempt to not offend her.

Hearing me, she just bursts out laughing, "Well, I'm a little sad, but it's probably for the best considering the death glare I'm getting from the blonde behind you."

Eh? Blonde behind me? I look back, but instead of seeing the promised death glare, I am instead met with Gwen smiling at me. Despite her smiling, I feel my body shiver a bit.

"Oh Gwen, what are you doing here?"

"I was just heading home when I, by chance, saw you here, so I decided to come to say hi." Didn't she leave the classroom before though, how did I end up in front of her.

"Doubt," Rogue says, only to be met with another glare from Gwen.

At this point, both Kitty and Kurt return. Looking at their expressions, it's clear who won today's fight.

Kitty gives us a triumphant V sign with her fingers before announcing, "Sorry about this idiot pushing you into Rog-, uh, Anna like that. As an apology, he has decided to bring all of us out for lunch free of charge."

Hearing this, the defeated-looking Kurt perks up, "Wait, I didn't agree to pay for everyone!"

Unfortunately for him, Kitty doesn't even bother to look back, already planning out where to bring us to. "The losers don't get a chance to sit at the negotiation table, just accept your punishment head-on."

Not arguing any further, Kurt just follows after Kitty and Rogue prompts me and Gwen to follow too.
