Duel Academy.

"Okay." Staring into the mirror is me, Kotaku.

I have spiky light brown hair, as well as my eyes. However, something I noticed after more than a week in this new world is that my eyes started to turn orange, not only that, but also my physical appearance appears to be younger.

In my previous world it would be 20 years old, but since I arrived in this world my appearance has gone back to 14~15 years old.

This is a welcome change, not only have I found my new eye color to be beautiful, but going back to being a teenager is something I really enjoy.

Anyway, what I pay most attention to right now is the clothes I'm wearing.

A white uniform with only the collar and red waist. I also wear plain pants and sneakers I took either one.

This is one of Slifer's uniforms.

I have Chancellor Sheppard to thank, if it weren't for him, I might not be able to survive in this world.

After our conversation, Sheppard took me through several tests, some mainly related to the search for my identity in other countries.

I even wondered if there was an alternate self in this world. However that was not what happened, there was nothing and no one that matched my DNA in this world.

I was insecure for a while for fear of being taken into an experiment, but luckily Sheppard is not that kind of person.

Sheppard did everything undercover, so I didn't get caught by any mad scientist.

Sheppard just said "In this world there are supernatural things like shadow dueling. There are cards so powerful they can kill. And Kaiba corp wants to teach Aliens how to duel. So compared to these three facts finding someone with no identity in this world doesn't seem great to me thing."

He had said that with his playful demeanor.

In one of the conversations Sheppard offered me an opportunity.

It's not easy to create a new identity, especially since I don't have any background, but luckily I'm in the dueling academy. Being a student creates a student identity, although not as good as a real identity, it can still help me later on when trying to create an identity.

Basically Sheppard invited me to be a student at the academy, in addition to having the academy dorms, there is a Duel Points (DP) system.

The dueling academy is sponsored by many people and among them there are many powerful ones, besides the great creator being Kaiba.

The DP has a lot of value in this academy, not only does it work as a form of point, but it is also possible to exchange it for money.

In the end, the gym is the best choice for me. Not only will I have a place to sleep, I'll also be able to raise enough funds to start my life.

Even though the gym is a beacon for trouble, I still prefer to seize that opportunity.

Sheppard assigned me to the Slifer dorm, although I know a little about dueling that doesn't mean I'm a TCG Pro Player.

I just played Duel Links and Master Duel. I've only dueled in person once in my life and that was against Titan.

Easy questions like "what is a normal monster?", "what is an effect monster?", "where do you put a Spell Card?" they were certainly easy questions, but some more complicated ones like, "What is the effect of this Card?." or "How did the Duel Monster come to be?." These were questions I couldn't answer.

I don't know the history of this world, even though I watched the first YuGiOh, I basically don't remember anything.

And I don't remember card effects just for the image. Does anyone remember the effects just for the image ?.

In short, my grade was average. However Sheppard still allowed me to enter the gym on that note.

If I had dueled an instructor and won I would have been assigned the yellow Ra instead of the red Slifer.

Not that I'm complaining, just getting into the gym is enough for me.

"Are you ready, newbie?." The door to the waiting room I'm in has been opened. A person I recognized right away entered, Crowler.

At the beginning of the Crowler series it was certainly boring, but to this day I remember his development. In the end he was one of the most respected characters in the academy.

So I only have respect for him.

"I'm ready, Doctor Crowler." I clearly remember that he prefers to be called the Doctor.

"Well then, let's go." If the smile is anything to go by, then it clearly earned me some points.

The way from the waiting room to the classroom was not long, so we soon arrivedthe room.

"Quiet everyone." As soon as Crowler said that the room went silent. Teachers are well respected here, unlike my previous world.

"Before we start class, let me introduce you to a new student, come in and introduce yourself." Upon hearing this, I entered.

The surprised faces of Jaden, Syrus and Alexis made me happy.

"Present yourself." Okay, this is a little tricky, I've never been good in front of crowds.

"My name is Kotaku, nice to meet you." Yes, that's all... And from the silence of the class I don't think it was a good presentation.

"Well then Kotaku, have a seat." Luckily I got some points with Crowler.

So I sat on an empty seat that is right next to the Slifer duo seat.

Jaden greeted me by waving his hand, Syrus basically held him down so he wouldn't get scolded by the professor.

I waved a little secretly.

Looking around I saw that Alexis was also looking at me, so I greeted her and she also waved back.

Luckily I'm not on her bad side anymore.

Shortly after I sat down, class started.

Hours and hours of class...

I met some new teachers, including the one who runs the Slifer dorm.

Some of the classes were simple, especially the ones I had in my previous world.

Others were just simple dueling skills.

Then came the complications Memorizing cards, learning alchemical terms and some other complicated ones.

And then it was finally time for the break and I must say that Jaden and Syrus were quite eager to talk to me.

"Hey Kotaku, I never thought you would transfer, after that day Syrus and I tried to look for you all over the school and we didn't find you, I even thought you left the island." Jaden approached my table, Syrus was on the side agreeing with what Jaden said.

"I was working on some things, so basically this is the first time I'm free to see the island, you'd hardly find me. At least you guys haven't forgotten me." I greet them with a smile.

"I thought you were taken by the shadows. I was worried about you." Syrus is a good boy, he just lacks confidence in him, as well as in me.

"Nha, I'm too unlucky to be taken by the shadows, I'd bring bad luck to her." Luckily Jaden and Syrus are idiots like me and laughed at my joke.

"You befriended Kotaku quickly." A man with black hair, slanted eyes, wearing glasses and carrying a Cat approached.

He is the alchemy processor.

"Professor Banner, can I help you with something?." I ask curiously why he said it to me. I remember that he is an important character who even accompanies Jaden on his journey, but I don't remember why he is so important.

And he's a good teacher too.

"I came here to introduce you to the Slifer Dorm, but seeing as how you've already made friends, I'll let them introduce you. This is your room key." I receive the teacher's key, on it is the number 279.

"You took the last room, if I'm not mistaken there is no one in that room." Syrus said with a little envy.

"Doesn't it have anyone?. I swore I saw someone in it." Jaden said a little confused.

"You're not going to say there was a ghost there, right?." I smile at Jaden's comment, but am a little alert. I don't want to be haunted at bedtime.

"Well, let's go after class, but for now we should get something to eat, so we'll have to go back to class." I agree with what Syrus said, I'm a little hungry.

"You arrived today, do you have any DP?. If not, you can leave it on my account today." Jaden gives a jewel. I could even depend on Jaden today, but I have a different idea.

"Getting DP at school isn't hard, isn't it just dueling ?." I say while holding the Dragonzela deck in my hand.

What I said is the truth, since I arrived in this world I have only dueled once against Titan. These weeks that I stayed with Sheppard for the tests were a heartache.

It's like there's a strawberry cake in front of me and I can only stare and I can't eat it, it was almost self-torture.

I'm just dying to start a duel.

"Look what we have here. A Slifer wanting to duel." A somewhat familiar voice sounded next to my seat.

We all turned to look at who said that. The one who spoke was a boy wearing a blue Obelisk outfit, he has black hair and exudes the aura of a spoiled rich kid.

"What do you want Chazz, duel?." Syrus grumbled. Jaden's eyes gleaming.

"You came to duel Chazz, I accept right now." Jaden excited as in the anime already wanted to duel.

"Tch, of course not Slifer, I was just curious to see what the Obelisk's new punching bag looks like." Chazz had a smile on his face, a smile that almost made me punch him in the face.

It almost looks like this Chazz was uneducated. But well, I'll forgive him since he brought me a target.

"Punch bag?. So how about we start a duel?. Let's see who will be the punching bag then." Even if it's Chazz, I'm not afraid.

I trust the Dragonzels deck.

"Oh, you've got Slifer balls. Let's see how you do against an Obelisk then." It seems that the answer pissed him off.

Chazz just sat down and one of the friends next to him approached with a Duel Disk.

"Well then, let's duel." Jaden said excitedly ready to start the duel.

Unfortunately I didn't give him that chance, these Obelisks are my DP, I need these Obelisks to eat.

I just walked in front of Jaden and grabbed my Duel Disk.

"I'll go first Jaden, I've really wanted to duel for a while." I smile at Jaden as I take the lead.

Jaden was paralyzed for a moment, I think he's not used to someone stealing his duel.

"Well, since you want so much. I'd also like to see your deck one more time." Jaden looked disheartened for a moment, but then his eyes gleamed with curiosity.

I put my deck on the Duel Disk. My disk is the academy duel disk, the only difference is that the crystal on it is purple instead of blue.

My opponent is a boy wearing glasses, he looks pretty confident.

"You're going to lose your Slifer." The boy smiled as he positioned himself in front of me.

"Let's see then." I say when positioning myself too.

"Duel."

"Duel."

We say at the same time.

At that moment I didn't realize that there were three people watching this duel from afar.

Alexis who was looking curiously beside a man.

A boy wearing a yellow outfit and with a calculating look.

And finally a dark blue haired man, wearing a white outfit with blue trimmings, he was beside Alexis watching the duel with a normal look and a little curiosity.
