At the Mikaelson mansion, Katherine followed Rebekah with trepidation; this was a long-awaited trial of 500 years. She stood unknowingly outside the parlor room for a long time without breathing. Then she took a deep breath and went inside the room.

There, she could see the three Mikaelson brothers and Rebekah sitting. Klaus and Elijah were tense and ready to attack, and Kol and Rebekah were carefreely lounging on their chairs.

"So, Kitkat, how was your day?" asked Kol.

Klaus and Elijah looked sharply at Kol, and Klaus growled.

"Why, Kol, it was as fabulous as it would be because I was attending," answered Katherine with a snark.

Kol was amused. Elijah looked at her with exasperation and resigned, and Klaus looked stony.

"Why, Kitkat, this is your trial for your punishment to be meted out," Kol continued.

"Why would I be in a trial, and who are you to judge me?" asked Katherine with anger in her tone.

"Ah, there is the Petrova fire. Why Katerina? This is how it has been; it is how it will be for an eternity. All vampires are answerable to us. You may live as you want, but if we need something to be done, it shall be done."

Katherine muttered, "Elitist assholes."

"Why, Katerina, we are elitist; we have been nobles in our own culture and nobles in many nations, so you need not worry too much. Darling, now for your crimes.

"You escaped the ritual for unbinding my bastard brother's wolf 500 years ago because the punishment you incurred was the massacre of your family and always being subjected to the hunt."

Katherine's eyes glistened, but she held on and had a stony expression.

"I have heard of your compelling of one Stefan Salvatore when he was human, and I want to know what the compulsion was about because, from my sources, it seems to be rape, but I don't want to judge before I hear your side."

"Why?" asked Katherine.

"Well, dear, you may think you escaped Nik for 500 years, but I am sure we all know you were never properly hunted as you would if you knew of our history of hunting our enemies, so you should know that the mercy you received is because our elder brother, as he loves and will always love you, so shall we get on with what was the compulsion?

Katherine was overwhelmed, but she still held on and took a grounding breath.

"I compelled him to act on his feelings because I was on the verge of flipping off my emotions and needed someone to ground me. He had feelings towards me, and he didn't want to come between me and his brother. I liked him more than I would ever like Damon. I was tired. I just wanted to turn off my switch, go on a spree, get killed, or something. Why am I telling you this?"

"Ah, that is a little trick from my side so that your reasons are not called lies. I keyed your magic to be truthful, and you can always stop talking if you don't want to. So, Nik, I say we pardon her with a small punishment."

Klaus raised an eyebrow at Kol, Elijah looked bewildered at Kol, and Rebekah looked at him with an understanding expression.

"And why should I spare her?" asked Klaus.

"Oh, you will like her punishment, Nik."

"Go on, then let me hear this punishment."

Everyone in the room knew he was not going to accept the terms until he heard the punishment.

"Katerina Petrova, the biggest badass bitch of the past 500 years," started Kol theatrically, earning eye rolls from the remaining people in the room.
