Chapter Two : Stars Align

In my state of panic, some intuitive part of me remained optimistic about something. At the time, I could not really place my finger at what exactly had my soul in all kinds of frenzy. I quickly approached the intersection called "the Bermuda". It joined our hostel's corridor to that of the females

The two hostels were elected facing each other but with one on the far left and the other on the far-right side.

There was a very safe distance between the two, so as to avoid any random and awkward incidents. I arrived onto the cafeteria corridor that led to the then busy main corridor leading to the classroom blocks.

To my surprise, it was packed with traffic of students up and down. Most of them looking in a state of panic just as I was. I guess I wasn't the only one had a late night.

Like a stray bullet it hit me, as I gazed at my fellow time-stressed students rushing to their respective lecture rooms.

What was it?

And then, boom! It hit me again or should I say she got me. Not physically, but I just knew something about her caught my attention.

In that instant, time came to a pause, all the fast-moving bodies slowed to a seemingly motionless halt. She on the other hand, remained on her course. Bright like the sun itself as she took her steps gracefully like she was royalty.

I stood there in a state of daze. In that floating moment I had a glimpse of how the astronauts in space felt. With all the other floating bodies around me I starred in amazement as the bright angel passed by.

My eyes could not blink and my mouth was dry. Suddenly she looked my way and I recall her briefly smiling as she passed me by. "

Did she just smile at me?" I quizzed myself

Later on, convinced myself that it must had been the tall guy walking in front of me. But that was a thought for another day.

In that close encounter with fate, forty seconds seemed like an eternity. By the time I got back to my senses she had disappeared behind me heading to the hostels.

I gently landed backed on earth and proceeded with half a brain to my designated lecture, of which I was already ten minutes late.

Bang! I heard the sound of the lecture room 11 door behind me. All necks and heads instantly turned to face me.

Several pairs of eyes look at me preying on my insecure soul. I stood there for a brief second waiting for a spanking from Professor Bango but he just lowered his glasses giving me a piercing stare and went back to passing on his wisdom.

I quickly scrambled to my favourite place at the back row. It was not all the way back but far enough to be invisible from the whole group. Lucky enough I found an unoccupied spot at the back.

Pssssss I heard Adam trying to get my attention. I looked to face him and he threw a cap to my face. I looked at him giving him that "what the hell" look and he simply pointed at my hair and went back to disturbing the girl that sat next to him.

I quickly pulled out my phone and opened my front camera. Upon looking at my head is when i figure out what the devil he was going on about. There it was, my hair was out of place like a mad man. I quickly put the cap on.

At that moment is when i realized what all the staring and giggling in the corridor and the class were for. I was walking around with some foam in my hair.

I slowly settled in and got my notepad and pen out of the bag and then turned on my laptop. Lucky enough the class was three hours long and we still sometime till the end.

Later into my class, things started coming back to me. I started recollecting the weird dream I had that morning.

I was in space floating to an uncertain bright destination. For some reason, I was excited in my dream to get to that approaching distant flare.

The image of the angel in the crowd that morning popped up in my mind. Just like that, a smile drew on my face.

I drifted off to my mind palace replaying that fateful moment

I asked myself questions like

"Who was she?"

"Was that smile really for me?"

I snapped out of my bubble and went for my phone and opened my chat with Beauty.

At a time like that she came very handy as she was bound to know something about my mystery girl. Good thing she was always online, even when she was sleeping her phone never slept.

"Hey bee!", I quickly typed and sent the text.

Beep!

"Hi moron!" She instantly replied.

That is what she called me for some reason and I was okay with it because at times I

would call her worse.

"What's up douche?"

I quickly asked trying to stir up a conversation with her

"Well what's up with you? I hear you had a situation earlier this morning" (laughing emoji)

"What situation?" Thinking she knew something about my encounter with the stellar being in the corridor.

"You know. You, class, late, bad hair"

I sighed in relief.

that text meant she did not know about "Her".

I started typing back. "Yeah you can laugh all you want…" and then I thought to myself

Should I tell her what was really on my mind?

But then I thought twice and settled not to.

Knowing Bee, she was going to blow the whole thing out of proportion and the whole group would have been on my case that whole week.

So, I swallowed my story and opted to just keep it to myself.

My hesitation was justified given that; my friends had established a precedence of complicating things when an issue like that was brought to the group.

I recall back to the last time I had a crush on one of my classmates and made the gravest mistake of telling my friends about it.

It was a monumental disaster; everyone had their advice to hand out. Ranging from what they thought I should have done about it to all sorts of insights.

Her name was Anna and I had had a crush on her for some time then. She was a really nice girl, hardworking but still socially outgoing and was she beautiful. I am very sure I was not the only guy to have noticed her beauty.

"Go to her tell her this and this man she is going to say yes man do not even you stress about it."

These was the sort of encouragement I got at the time. And just like a little unsuspecting sheep I wandered off and got fed to the wolves.
