3 CHAPTER 3

"One day, you'll be able to see this place and realize that it was pretty different to what I used to tell you. The world's different than what you think it is Lucy."

I then throw a stone as far as I could until it reaches the water and made a splash right there. I let go of a sigh as tears constantly stream down my face. For some reasons, dad is right. Having no sight sometimes saves you from everything that's cruel. Having no sight is like living in a world full of fantasy because you are just depending your universe to how well they describe it, a lot overrated I guess, “clean cut like Disney”, a song even explained.

"Are your knees okay?"

I trembled hearing someone from behind me. He then sat down beside me, and knowing it was Josh, I rapidly wiped the tears away.

"It's already a week. I am totally okay."

"So why are you crying?"

I even sighed before I answered.

"I don't know how to keep secrets so should I say it to you?"

"Go ahead, I'm listening."

"This was my dad's favorite place."

"That's not even a secret Lucy.", he chuckled.

I scratched my back after he said that. I am really a mess!

"Why are you here?", I asked him.

"My grandma lives here. I always visit her on the weekend."

"Are you alone?"

"Yeah."

"Your mom and dad?"

"My mom died in prison. She murdered someone."

"Sorry."

"It's alright. No one dug in my personal life but I'm willing to share it if ever someone asked.", his expressions went cold as ice.

"And your father?"

"I wasn't given any chance at all to meet him.”

"That was a sad story. Back to the days when I was still blind, I used to believe life's good. But here we are, having such a different story from the usual and it sucks."

"Are you trying to say you regret having those eyes?"

"I regret seeing pain. I was satisfied with my own pain before and I thought I was the only one who feels pain. After having these green pigmented eyes, I'm seeing others cry as well. I'm seeing them get broken, get hurt, trip and fall down, I watched them shattered into pieces."

"We all fall down and we should fight alone. Don't be stressed about someone else's struggles. Anyways, you said you're having a different story as well as I am. That bothers me, are you alright?"

"I was singing a song that night not really knowing someone killed my father. I wasn't able to see who he was for I am blind."

"Wait what?"

"I was fourteen when someone killed my father. I was singing along with a band's dramatic song and there he was in the kitchen with the killer."

"Have you hunted the killer?"

"I was driven away from that place since that day. I was further adopted by a certain Kelly Rodriguez."

"Mind going back to that place?"

"I don't know how. Our house was called "the large house" but I don't know where it was. Right in front of the tomb of my dad, I promised to find his killer but I don't know where to start."

"You should be careful Lucy. The world's even crueler than what you see. Sometimes who fights for you are stabbing you behind your back. You should be cautious.", he seemed serious and is looking straight to my eyes.

I realized he was really handsome. His eyes are languid, staring deeply that I almost feel my bones are rejoicing. No man has ever looked at me this way. No man has this kind of eyes.

I got scared when my phone suddenly rang. It was my mom Kelly as I try to look at it. She's calling already. I'm only here for about half an hour, yet she's searching for me?

"Mom."

"You should go home sweetie. I prepared lunch for us."

"Yes mom. I'm going home."

"Take extra care while driving."

I admit it, I felt loved and cared by mom Kelly. Whenever I wake up in the morning, my breakfast's already prepared, my uniform's already pressed, she fixes my hair in braid and she fetches me after school. But I crave for the affection only my real mom has given to me. Never in my whole life, someone treated me that way. Sometimes, thoughts are going to consume me that maybe I don't deserve my mother at all that's why we separated. I really miss her. I wish I could see her.

"Was that your mom?", Josh spoke and I realized he was still there and I was saying nothing to him.

"Yes. She adopted me and she brought a little change to my life though it's still a mess, somehow I feel happy about her wanting me to have these eyes."

"And those eyes suit you. You look beautiful."

He then took the extra hair that's blocking my sight away, and put them to my ear, brushing the back of my ear while doing that. And we looked like a couple or someone dating under the heat and the pressure of the sun. As he did that, my heart thump and I literally just jumped out of happiness for it keeps beating so fast.

"Whoever donated these, I owe her a lot. Sorry Josh, I need to go home now."

"See you at school sweetie.", he said before standing up, dusting the sand away from his pants.

And he lends me a hand for me to stand up. I never rejected any of his assistance for somehow, I feel safe and comfortable with him. Not comfortable like I can see the both of us dating but it was more of, I feel like I was taken care of my mother, or maybe I was just missing her so bad.

He even patted me on my hair and leaned over so that he could reach my height for he was about half a meter taller.

"You having your eyes now, I think you should focus on how to use them as to how they should be used. Make your life beautiful by it and don't focus on seeing people whining and stumbling down together. Focus on yourself Lucy.", he said.

Then he started walking, keeping his hands on his pockets and I was left there so I have no choice than to run to my car, the car mom's letting me use if I want to unwind during the weekend.
