Chapter 11: Miko And Hana

After walking for about 10 minutes, Hideo and the girls arrived at the donut shop, which was packed with people.

"There are so many people here." Hana said, sweat on her forehead.

"I guess they're here for the discount." Miko said, with a dark expression on her face.

Hideo nodded in agreement with the girls' comments while thinking of ways to cut in line.

"Let's get in line before they run out." Hana said, cutting the line before Hideo could do or say anything.

Hideo nodded and walked towards the line but noticed that Miko wasn't following them, so he turned around to get her attention.

Miko was on her phone with a smile as she browsed through it.

'What a beautiful smile.' Hideo thought as he saw Miko smiling.

'it's the first time I've seen her smile like that.' Hideo thought as he got lost in Miko's expression.

"Hideo, don't just stand there, and Miko, that's not the line." Hana said, noticing the two teenagers lost in their thoughts.

"Huh," Miko said, realizing she wasn't in line.

She looked around, and her expression changed to one of fear.

Hideo, noticing this, approached her and held her hand.

"Seriously, you should pay attention to your surroundings," Hideo said, pulling Miko towards the line.

Miko's expression shifted from terrified to blushing as she looked at Hideo.

'I hadn't realized how attractive he was until now.'the girl thought as she lowered her head.

Hana had an "angry" expression on her face and scolded Miko.

"You're always playing with your phone, you need to watch where you're walking." Hana said, pouting while reprimanding Miko.

"You could have bumped into someone or a car. I've also seen people fall into holes, you know." Hana continued scolding Miko.

Hideo simply chuckled.

'The friendship between these girls is something else.' he thought as he observed their little interaction.

"Where's the menu?" Miko asked, searching for the menu in Hana's hands. Suddenly, Miko's gaze looked to where she was standing before.

And her expression darkened.

Out of curiosity, Hideo looked in the same direction but couldn't find anything, so he returned his gaze to Miko and widened his eyes upon seeing her.

"Thank you, Hideo, thank you." Miko said, tears in her eyes as she held Hideo's hands.

After a few seconds, she realized what she was doing and turned her gaze away, spotting the menu in Hana's hands and snatching it away.

Hideo didn't pay much attention to their handholding, but unbeknownst to him, his pulse quickened.

Hideo looked back at the spot where Miko had been standing before and squinted his eyes.

'I feel like something's not right there, even though I can't see anything.' he thought, noticing a strange energy where Miko had been.

'I hope it's just me hallucinating, but...' Hideo looked at Miko, who was ordering with Hana.

'I suppose I'll have to investigate Miko. Maybe I can see something new, like I did in the art club with Naoto's painting.' As Hideo got lost in his thoughts, Hana called out to him.

"Hideo, what are you going to order?" Hana asked, pointing to the store employee who was looking at him with a slight blush.

Hideo shook his head and approached them.

*

"I spent it all, but I got 10 Mon De Rings." Hana said happily, holding a box full of ring-shaped bread.

"Are you going to eat them all?" Miko asked, looking at the amount of bread with slightly widened eyes.

"Of course not, you can have one." Hana said, slightly speeding up her pace.

'I wonder where all that food is going in that small body.' Hideo thought as he watched Hana.

'Well, I guess they're going to that place.' Hideo thought as he watched Hana's two large things bouncing with each step.

"Did you know they have a lot of calories?" Miko said, observing Hana's bread.

"I know, I'm going to get even fatter." Hana said with a smile, although she sounded worried.

"And what did you choose, Miko?" Hana asked, looking at Miko's box of bread.

"Three Amen Rings." Miko said with a serious expression as she examined her bread.

"And you, Hideo?" Hana asked, looking at Hideo, who was walking a couple of steps behind them.

"Mm, it's called Hungarian Bread Ring, I think. I've never tried it, but it caught my attention." Hideo said as he lifted his box slightly to show it.

*Crunch*

"Hm?" Hideo said, hearing something interrupting him.

The three of them turned their heads and saw a white kitten in a box.

"Poor thing." Hana said as she approached the kitten slowly.

"Did someone leave it here?" Miko asked, looking at the cat in a box with no collar or anything.

"Probably." Hideo said as he looked at the kitten. He had never had pets before, so he didn't know how to deal with them, so he kept his distance for now.

"Oh my god, it's so adorable." Hana said with hearts in her eyes as she looked at the kitten.

Hana was squatting in front of the cat, trying to touch it with her finger.

"Look, it's so small." Hana said to Miko, who had approached.

Miko smiled and leaned closer to observe the kitten.

"It's licking my finger, it's so cute, I can't handle it." Hana said, whose finger was being licked by the cat.

Miko's expression turned serious as she got closer to the kitten.

Hideo, seeing this change, quickly approached the box.

But when he arrived, he saw nothing but a cute kitten.

He turned to look at Miko, who was sighing in relief for some reason, and when she saw Hideo's suspicious gaze, she looked away.

'I guess I'll have to talk to her directly about this.' Hideo thought, sensing that he wouldn't get anywhere at this rate.

*

"I forgot that I can't have pets in my apartment." Hana said as she typed a tweet with her right hand and stroked the cat in her lap with her left.

"I hope someone comes and picks it up." Hana said with a sigh as she looked at the tweet where she was searching for someone who could take care of the cat.

"Most likely, someone will come." Hideo said as he looked at the number of followers Hana had and the retweets her tweet had already received.

'I'm not sure if it's good or bad to be so famous on Twitter...' Hideo thought as he remembered the time when Gabriel almost destroyed the world because of a fight on Twitter.(...)

"You're right, how could anyone say no to this cutie." Hana said as she stood up and spun around with the cat.

Hideo let out a small laugh at this.

But as Hana was spinning, she suddenly bumped into a tall, bald man with tattoos and a scar on his face.

"Sorry." Hana said and returned to the bench where they were sitting.

'That guy... I sense an aura around him. It's like he's being protected by something, but it doesn't give me a sense of danger. This feeling is something I haven't experienced before, it's different from the auras I've seen.'Hideo thought as he observed the bald man.

"Excuse me, are you the ones looking for someone to take care of the cat?" a man approached them, looking at Hana and Miko and ignoring Hideo.

He was of average height with short, tousled hair and a bang hanging down on the left side. He had orange eyes that looked tired, as if he hadn't slept well.

"I was hoping you'd let me take care of him." the man said with a friendly smile.

"Really? That would be great." Hana said excitedly, thinking she had found an owner for the cat.

"It's good that a kind person came to pick him up," Hana said to Miko and Hideo with a smile.

But the latter two were having different thoughts.

"What the hell is this guy?" Hideo thought as he looked at the man. There was an aura of misfortune around him.

'It's like that bald guy, but completely opposite. If the bald guy had the aura of fortune, security, and other good things, this guy seems cursed.'Hideo thought as he looked at the man and noticed his tired eyes.

"Wait, we can't trust him." Miko said, apparently seeing something that Hideo couldn't.

"What? You won't give him to me?" the man said, squinting his eyes.

After a few seconds of exchanging glances, the man left.

"Are you sure about this?" Hana asked Miko, to which the latter nodded.

"And you, Hideo?" Hana questioned, but she couldn't find Hideo where he was before.

They searched for him for a few seconds and saw him talking to the bald man. After a couple of seconds, he returned accompanied by the man.

"Thank you very much. I'll take good care of him." the man said as he held the kitten in his hands, with a small smile on his face.

After saying that, the man left with the cat.

"Are you sure about this?" Hana asked to which Miko and Hideo nodded.

After handing over the cat, Hideo accompanied Hana and Miko near their homes and then went straight to his own house to sleep.

*

In a regular house, a bald man could be seen playing with a cat.

"Meowsey."said the man, looking at the cat.

"Meow." the cat responded, staring back at him with its big eyes.

"Meower." said the man, still looking at the cat.

"Meow." replied the cat, gazing at the bald man.

"Meowel," said the man, but before he could do anything else...

*Slash* The cat scratched his face, causing it to start bleeding.

"Ha." said the man with a terrifying smile.

"It shall be Meowel." the man said, smiling at the cat, apparently deciding its name.

"Meow." the cat purred happily.

"Hahaha." the man started laughing while playing with the cat.

The man served milk to the cat in a dish, and the cat began to eat quickly.

"Do you like Meowel?" the man asked, smiling happily.

"Meow." replied the cat, continuing to eat.

Unbeknownst to the man, a completely white woman, like a ghost, smiled at him while two equally white cats with two tails stood on her shoulders, watching the little kitten.

Images of these two kittens and the woman could be seen in frames on a table behind the man, along with a couple of vases.

And without the man knowing, they lovingly observed him playing with his new family.
