After being a private student during his uni-years, Yoongi's more than nervous to move into the dormitory during his last semester and graduate as any other student would. After doing some precautions he's (mostly) ready to make this step. But everything gets thrown out through the window when Yoongi looks at his new roommate's eyes. When he gets to know he's imprinted to his roommate, Seokjin, he knows he's definitely not ready for that, and he thinks he never will be. What is going to happen with them? Will they be able to get through the hardships, the struggles faith put in front of them?
DISCLAIMER
- This is a fictional story - please be aware of that.
- Also, even though I tried to portray how things go in the universities and all, but I've never been a university student, so I can't promise that everything is a 100% accurate ;-;
- Every A/B/O story is different - in mine, they all have their "inner wolves", something that sort of live inside them. They can communicate with them, like when you speak to yourself internally, listening to your conscience and stuff. They can't shapeshift, they're not hybrids, they're all normal humans with this "inner wolf" which marks their secondary gender. (Back then, their ancestors were capable of shapeshifting, but since then they lost this ability.)
- The imprinting is similar to soulmates - they can be with anyone they like or want to, but some of them can find their other half, their mate that their inner wolves choose before their heart. It's a quite rare that this happens, but it's a possibility - which happens with Seokjin and Yoongi.
-------------------------------------------------------------
He can do this. He's already here, so 's no reason to grab all of his stuff, run away and live the rest of his life in his bedroom. He wants to do this. He promised himself that he'll move into the dormitory of the university and graduate as any other student. He already took his pill and used his scent blocker before he took a step out of his bedroom to make sure he's not going to cause any trouble. He'll be fine.
Right?
"Come on, don't be a coward," Yoongi mumbles under his nose and after taking a big breath he lifts his hand up and knocks on the door.
"A moment!" He hears someone's muffled voice, and a few moments later the door opens, giving a glance of a tall, handsome guy. Usually Yoongi avoids eye contact, but he's too stunned by how good-looking the latter is, and he already locked eyes with him before he can stop it.
His inner Omega perks his head up, a whine resonating in his chest, and there's something that clicks inside him, like something he never knew was missing came back to its place, making him complete.
He's still in shock, trying to understand what the hell just happened when he smells the other's scent - an Alpha, his Alpha's scent -, it's so rich he can almost taste the juicy fig on his tongue. His Omega wants to go closer, to roll in this scent until he can smell it on his skin and clothes-
The first thing Seokjin senses is that his inner wolf lifts his head up, a low growl resonating in his chest when he makes eye contact with the other, feeling that something happened. It feels exactly how his parents described back then, how he feels complete now, like the last puzzle is finally at its place, showing the whole picture.
It's something he never thought would happen with him, especially not during his university years.
But before he can celebrate that his Alpha imprinted with his Omega, he notices that said Omega's eyes widens in panic, and he takes a step back, trying to run away.
To keep him there, Seokjin quickly grabs the latter by his wrist, his fingers curling around it, tightening his grip just enough to make sure he can't be able to pull it out. It makes the latter stare at Seokjin's hand, probably too scared to look at his face. Without thinking, Seokjin pulls him into his dorm room and closes the door once he's in.
"Don't run away, please," Seokjin asks as he turns over, his voice low as a whisper. The Omega stays put but he still doesn't look at him. "Look, I know this is shocking, but we can figure this out, okay?"
As the Omega keeps his gaze at their hands, Seokjin slowly lets him go, and he needs to suppress his instincts, to stop himself from reaching out for his hand.
"Figure out what?" The Omega asks with a frown. "You… you felt that… thing too? You know what just happened?"
"Have you ever heard about imprinting?" Seokjin asks quietly. The latter slightly shakes his head which surprises Seokjin - it's a subject that people usually know, especially at this age. "Uh, so… when we made eye contact, your inner wolf and mine got attached to one another… like they both know they are meant to be with each other, to be the 'perfect mates' in the future," he tries to explain, quoting 'perfect mates' with his hands, hoping it works.
As Seokjin scans the Omega's face, he notices how the words he said sinks in.
"But… but we never even saw each other before!" Yoongi says after a few moments, fear crawling up on his spine. "I don't even know your name, how can my stupid Omega know that we're meant to be together?" He doesn't want this, he never asked for it, this just has to be some kind of bullshit.
"I know it's scary, but I'm sure we can find a solution to this," the taller one says, and Yoongi's inner wolf whines as he can sense how the Alpha is in distress which doesn't help him to calm down.
"No, I don't want to find a solution! I don't want to do anything that has anything to do with you!" Yoongi's voice rises as he speaks, his heart racing in his chest, his palms getting sweaty. He sees that he hurt the Alpha but he doesn't care about it at this point. Before the latter can say anything, Yoongi rushes right next to him, bumping against his shoulder and goes to the first room he notices, closing the door right after, locking it as well.
"Why?" Yoongi asks quietly as he turns over and leans against the door. He squeezes his eyes shut, feeling how much they're burning. "Why did this happen to me?" He slowly slides down to the floor, pulling his knees to his chest to rest his head on them, curling his arms around them.
He just wanted to try and live like any other student, live in the dorm and meet with others and graduate like everyone else. Why does life have to be so cruel with him?
All these questions whirl in Yoongi's head as he starts crying, the sadness and anger makes his chest ache.
What should he do now?
Seokjin's heart aches as he hears the Omega's muffled crying through the door. He can sense how distressed he is, his Alpha whines, wanting to go in and comfort him. Guilt bubbles up in his stomach as he knows that he's the reason why the Omega feels this way. He wants to help but he doesn't know how, and it frustrates him.
Realising that it's best if he leaves the Omega alone, Seokjin goes to the front door of his dorm room and opens it, grabbing the latter's bags he left there. He leaves them right next to the door of the room where the Omega is, then he forces himself to go to his own room. He lays on his bed, covering his face with his arm.
Omega, Seokjin's Alpha whines, making him groan. He still can't believe that his inner wolf imprinted with someone. He knows it's possible, it happened with his parents too, but still, it was so unexpected.
He wonders what's going to happen. Will the Omega stay? Will he at least try to give Seokjin a chance? They- they could go slow, to get to know each other, just like how they would do if they wouldn't have imprinted.
They can figure this out, right?
"Hey hyung, how's it going? What's your roommate like?" Namjoon asks right away as he picks up the phone. Yoongi has to swallow hard as his throat feels too tight. "Hyung? Are you okay?" Namjoon probably heard him swallowing as his voice filled with worry.
"I… I just wanted to give this a try and graduate like any other student. If I would've known this would happen I would never leave my room!" Yoongi starts, his voice trembling as fresh tears form in his eyes.
"Hyung, what are you talking about? Did your roommate hurt you?"
"N-no," Yoongi replies and takes a deep breath to calm himself down a little.
"Then what happened?" Namjoon's voice is still worried, but not as much as before.
"When I looked at his face I felt something and he said he felt it too and he told me that our wolves got imprinted and I'm so scared Joonie, I don't know anything about this-" Yoongi starts rambling, the panic tightening his chest again.
"Woah, what did you just say? That your wolves got imprinted?" Namjoon interrupts him.
"Ye-yes," Yoongi says quietly.
"Holy shit, hyung," Namjoon lets out, and it doesn't help Yoongi's panic at all.
"You're scaring me, Joonie," Yoongi whispers, his fingertips turning white at how hard he's gripping his phone.
"Sorry, I just- okay, so, what did your roommate tell you about this?"
"That our inner wolves got attached to each other, like we meant to be with each other or something like that," Yoongi slowly replies as he recalls what the latter said. It's still something he doesn't want to believe, it sounds so surreal.
"He said he felt that too?"
"Mhm," Yoongi hums. "So he wasn't lying? This is something that can happen?" He asks after a few moments of silence.
"Yes, he told you the truth, hyung," Namjoon replies.
"What should I do now?" Yoongi asks desperately, his hand is shaking as he combs through his hair.
"Where are you?"
"I… locked myself into one of the rooms," Yoongi slowly admits, his cheeks burning.
"I see," he hears Namjoon, and he's sure the latter is trying to hold back a chuckle. "I think you should try and talk to him, hyung. I'm sure he's just as surprised as you, and if you're open to it then you two can discuss what's going to happen."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Well, maybe you can try to get to know him better first. Like how we became friends," Namjoon replies. "You don't have to be with him in a romantic way. It'll take time, but if you let him a bit closer to you, I'm sure you can make this work."
"Are you sure?" Yoongi asks, his voice just a whisper. "Are you sure it'll work?"
"Yes, I'm sure," Namjoon's voice is so soothing and calming, and Yoongi wants to believe him so badly.
"Thank you, Joonie," Yoongi says, his lips curling up to a small smile.
"Anytime, hyung," Namjoon reassures him before they end the call.
Yoongi stares at his phone for a while, his thoughts whirling in his head, chasing each other. He still wants to stay in the room, but his body has other things in mind - his stomach growls, letting him know he didn't eat much since he woke up.
Taking a deep breath, Yoongi stands up from the floor and turns over to face the door. He takes his bottom lip between his teeth as he unlocks the door and curls his fingers around the knob.
Closing his eyes, Yoongi opens the door and takes a step forward, a surprised yelp slipping out of him when he bumps against someone.
"Oh my!" Yoongi hears, and after he finally finds his ground he glances at the Alpha he bumped into - he's holding a tray, a bowl of steaming soup is at the corner of it, it probably slid there when they bumped against each other. The taller one looks at it, a relieved sigh leaving his lips when he sees it's not wasted. "Are you okay? Did you get hurt?" He asks Yoongi as he glances at him.
"Ah, I'm okay," Yoongi replies, getting a little shy. He blinks a few times, staring at the food.
"I hope you like budae jjigae," the Alpha says, lifting the tray up a little, a small smile playing on his lips.
"I… I do," Yoongi admits. "Can I eat it at the dining table?" He asks, ignoring how much he's blushing. When the latter's smile widens, Yoongi's cheeks start burning even more so he lowers his head, hiding his face.
"Of course!" The taller one chirps and turns over, glancing back above his (quite broad) shoulder. "Follow me," he says and starts walking.
Yoongi hesitates for a moment before he goes after him. As they go, he notices that his suitcase and bag are right next to the door of the room where he was in - it's not a big deal, but Yoongi appreciates the nice gesture.
"Thank you," Yoongi says as he sits down after the Alpha puts the bowl of soup down with the cutlery onto the table and takes a few steps towards the counter, leaving the tray there. Yoongi follows his movements with his eyes, watching as the latter decides to sit down at the other side of the table.
"You're welcome," the Alpha smiles. "I hope you'll like it," he adds with a slight blush.
Yoongi takes a bite of food into his mouth, a surprised hum slipping through his lips, earning a smile from the other.
"Is it good?"
"Mhm," Yoongi hums, trying not to show how much he likes it. It's amazing - the slice of meat melts in his mouth, the noodles perfectly cooked, the broth is sweet with just a slight of spice which makes the soup perfect.
They stay silent for a while, the bowl is around halfway when Yoongi gathers enough courage to look at the Alpha, getting his attention right away.
"I'm sorry," Yoongi whispers, his cheeks burning. The latter stays quiet which makes him nervous. "I know my behaviour was childish, but this whole thing, moving here after years of being a private student was stressful enough for me and after you told me this imprinting I panicked and I needed some time to think," he rambles, lowering his gaze at the bowl, feeling too ashamed to keep eye contact.
Seokjin replays everything he heard in his head. It's quite a lot to take in if he's being honest, but he manages to understand everything - he's not stupid after all.
Seokjin's Alpha pouts at the fact that they could've met and gotten imprinted earlier but Seokjin shushes him.
"To my defense, I had no idea this was going to happen," Seokjin says casually, trying to ease the mood a little. "But I'm sure we can figure this out," he smiles when the Omega glances up on him.
"How?"
"Hm, maybe we can introduce ourselves," Seokjin replies. "You know, how we would probably do it if this wouldn't have happened."
"But how can you ignore it so easily?" The Omega asks, nibbling his bottom lip.
"I'm not ignoring it, I just put this fact aside and try to get to know you first," Seokjin says after a few moments of thinking. "Just please give it a chance," he knows that this is a lot for the other one, but still… he wants to hope.
"O...okay," the Omega murmurs, slowly lifting his head up. Seokjin fights the urge to punch the air in victory, but he can't hide how happy he is as a wide smile crosses his face. Seokjin notices that he wants to say something, but he's too shy to speak. Seokjin takes a breath to speak but the Omega prevents him. "Uh, I'm Yoongi," he says, a shade of pink colouring his cheeks.
Cute.
"My name is Seokjin," he introduces himself. Yoongi nods and continues eating. The silence doesn't feel so awkward this time, but it makes Seokjin nervous. He fidgets a little with his hands on the table, not knowing what he should say or do. Usually he's not this shy or quiet, but there's something in Yoongi that makes him want to prove that he's not just an ordinary, typical Alpha.
"Thank you for the meal, it was delicious," Yoongi says with a small smile as he leans back in his seat.
"You're welcome," Seokjin smiles back at him and stands up. He reaches for the empty bowl and the cutleries which Yoongi gives to him, making sure they don't make physical contact.
Ignoring the low whine his inner wolf makes, Seokjin goes to the sink and washes the dirty dishes. He hears the chair moving behind him, a few steps and a closing door after a few moments. A sigh leaves his lips, putting the chopsticks into the dryer and closes the tap.
Seokjin has a feeling that this is going to be harder than he thought. Yoongi's so shy, he gets flustered and nervous easily, and the fact that their wolves got imprinted only makes things harder for them.
He has to wait until Yoongi opens up for him. It'll take a long time, and Seokjin can only hope it's all worth it.
★★★
Seokjin's guess was right - Yoongi's already gone when he wakes up in the next morning, a mug resting on the drier, a sign he had a coffee before he left. He wonders if they'll meet in the hallways of the university during the day, if Yoongi will ignore him or greet him.
It must be hard for Yoongi - he was a private student for all these years and he only came here to graduate as a normal student in his last semester. Knowing how shy he is, Seokjin's worried about the Omega. He hopes he'll be okay.
Nodding to himself, Seokjin gets ready for the day and goes to his first class. He can't help but search for Yoongi whenever he walks from one class to the other, but he doesn't see him anywhere. Yoongi probably doesn't want to talk with him, or even see him. It's not that easy to shrug off the unpleasant feeling of being ignored, but Seokjin manages it through the day.
Even though Seokjin tries to not let himself hope that he'll see Yoongi in their dorm room, he still feels disappointed when he realises he's all alone. He checks the time on his phone, his brows furrowing as he looks at the time - it's pretty late. Does he have this many classes? It's a possibility, he's graduating after all; the last year's the worst, but considering that it's the first day, it's unusual to not be back at this hour.
He sighs and puts his phone back into his pocket, slipping out of his shoes and taking off his leather jacket before he walks in. Feeling hungry, he makes his way to the kitchen and opens the fridge, grabbing out the ingredients of the meal he has in mind. He doesn't even realise he's making it for two until the end when he holds a plate filled with the food. His lips curl up to a sad smile as he looks at the pot. He goes to the dining table and sits down, glancing at the other side in front of him before he starts eating.
Seokjin mindlessly scrolls on his phone, reading his friend's messages, replying to them. He doesn't mention the imprinting to any of them - he just casually tells them that his new roommate is cute - because he is cute - and shy, so they barely talked. He can't help but roll his eyes at his friend's replies and tell them to shut up. Thankfully they drop the subject and Seokjin closes the group chat and continues eating.
Maybe Seokjin glances towards the front door more than once, but he would deny that later. One time he's staring at the door for too long, his body stirring when his phone buzzes on the table - he got a message. He turns his gaze at his phone as he grabs it, reading the message after he unlocks it.
"Great," he sighs as he reads the lines - he'll have to work after his last class, one of his colleagues got sick and he has to hop in.
Seokjin is working at a small restaurant as a waiter - not the best job, but thanks to his good looks he gets a lot of tips, and he needs as much money as he can get. He has to take care of himself, he doesn't go home during the breaks either. Seokjin doesn't have a good relationship with his parents, to say the least.
Being the son of a CEO of a company was never easy - Seokjin is no exception. His father - an Alpha as well - had so high expectations towards Seokjin, he had no choice but to go to business major at the Seoul National University his father chose for him. It was a nightmare, Seokjin hated it so much, and he could only bear with it over a year before he decided to enlist. Thankfully his father was fine with that, almost proud that his son went into the military on his own will.
But that soon disappeared when Seokjin told him that he was not going to go back into the same university after his duty was over. Seokjin needed a long time to gather courage to confess to his father that he doesn't want to pursue the path his father had towards him. That he doesn't want to be a businessman, nor does he want to step into his father's shoes.
His father scoffed at the other line of the phone, asking what his dream was then, what he wanted to do. Seokjin bit into his bottom lip, shyly admitting that he wanted to become an actor. Hearing the news his dad got angry, spitting out phrases that "you're a disgrace to our family and that if he was not going to change his mind, then he had to find a place to go back to - he was not welcome back to the place he called 'home'.
Even though Seokjin knew this was going to happen, it still stung. A few days later his mother called Seokjin, telling him that he found an apartment where he could live. Seokjin was truly grateful for his mother, but he rejected the offer, letting his mother know that he already sent in his application at the university he wanted to go before the call and he got accepted, so he could move into the dormitory of the university. He only had to stay a few weeks longer until the first semester started.
Since then Seokjin hasn't talked with his father, and he only meets with his mother from time to time. It took him a while to get used to his new 'home', but he was so excited that he could finally do what he dreamed of that it suppressed the sadness he felt.
Seokjin got along well with his roommate - a Beta who was majoring in directing -, helping each other through the midterms, Seokjin cooking for the two of them to celebrate when they got good grades. They respected each other's privacy as well, giving the opportunity to… fool around with other university students.
Seokjin himself didn't have that many one-night stands though - he focused on his studies as he needed the scholarship, and he also got a job at the restaurant where he still works.
At the end of his previous semester, Seokjin's roommate moved out - they moved together with their partner -, and he got the news that he's going to get a new roommate in his last semester.
It still feels so surreal - that Seokjin's Alpha got imprinted with Yoongi's Omega. His heart aches a little though when he recalls how Yoongi reacted to it, but he doesn't want to give up - he's too stubborn for that.
Taking a deep breath, Seokjin replies to the message he got that he'll be there in time tomorrow and stands up, sliding his phone into his pocket as he stands up before he takes the dirty dishes to the sink, washing them.
He mindlessly glances towards the front door again, hoping that Yoongi is going to come back soon.
He's going to come back, right?
★★★
"What the hell are you doing here?" Yoongi stirs at the sudden voice - he wasn't expecting it at all, too occupied with what he's doing until now. He lifts his head up to see Namjoon walking towards him, sitting in front of him at the other side of the table.
"Hello to you too, Joonie," Yoongi says with a look, but Namjoon doesn't flinch. "I'm studying. I thought it's normal here," he replies to his question as he runs his fingers through his hair.
"It's the middle of the night, hyung. You should be in your dorm room by now," Namjoon raises an eyebrow at him.
"I… I'll go soon," Yoongi can't hide his face, so Namjoon sees his flushed cheeks.
"Hyung, you can't hide from him forever."
"It worked so far," Yoongi regrets the moment the words left his mouth as Namjoon's eyes go wide at them.
"What?"
"I saw him a few times today when I went from one class to the other, but I didn't feel ready so… I made sure he can't see me," Yoongi admits with a defeated sigh. His Omega whined whenever he noticed Seokjin, but Yoongi ignored it and hid behind the other students or went into the bathroom. After his classes ended, he came here to the library and he wants to make sure that Seokjin will be sleeping already when he goes back to their dorm room.
Namjoon stays silent for a few moments, Yoongi can see how he's trying to comprehend what he heard. Yoongi fidgets in his seat, feeling a little - read: very - uncomfortable. When Namjoon looks at him, his eyes are filled with understanding and… sadness.
"I know this is a lot for you, but… if you're going to hide and run away from him, you'll never get to know him. You'll never give him the chance to try and reach out towards you."
"I will open towards him, Joonie, I just… I need some time," Yoongi lowers his head, looking anywhere but Namjoon's face. He notices how Namjoon reaches towards his hand, waiting until Yoongi puts his own hand onto his.
"Promise me, hyung," Namjoon says softly, making Yoongi look at his face. "Promise me you'll try to get to know him."
Alpha, Yoongi hears his Omega's voice echoing in his head, a low whine following it. Yoongi's chest aches a little, and as he feels too weak to form words, he nods, gently squeezing Namjoon's hand. Namjoon smiles at him, acknowledging his silent promise.
"Come on, I'll walk you home, hyung," his friend says and after one more squeeze he lets his hand go and stands up. Yoongi follows suit and grabs his stuff before they leave, bidding goodbye to the librarian as they go.
Yoongi shivers a little, it's colder at this time of the evening. They walk in silence for a short while, but Yoongi can sense how Namjoon glances at him from time to time.
By the time Yoongi finally has enough courage to speak, they're already arrived at the dorms. Yoongi stands from one foot to the other, trying to convince himself to go in. He appreciates that Namjoon stays there with him, not rushing him - the younger one understands him and Yoongi's grateful for that.
"I.. I'll go now," Yoongi slowly says, taking a step towards the building. Namjoon nods, a small smile playing on his lips. "Thank you for walking me back here," he adds, a shy smile appearing on his face.
"Anytime," Namjoon reassures him.
"Goodnight, Joonie," Yoongi bids his goodbye as he halfway-turns towards the door of the building.
"Goodnight hyung," the younger's voice is so soft as he says those words - there's something in them that makes Yoongi's heart flutter a little, but he can't pinpoint what's the emotion he senses.
To hide his blush, Yoongi turns away fully and walks into the dormitory, too scared to look back - he would probably change his mind and find an excuse to leave again, to stay away from his new roommate.
He only stops for a moment at the front door of their room, but after he takes a big breath he slowly opens it. His heart is racing in his chest as he looks around but thankfully Seokjin is nowhere to be seen, which means he's probably already sleeping in his room. Yoongi lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding and walks towards the kitchen. Feeling hungry, Yoongi opens the fridge, hoping he can grab something to eat.
"Oh," he lets out quietly - there's a Dosirak box with his name tagged on it. Looks like Seokjin cooked for him - again. Yoongi takes the box out and opens it, his stomach growling at the amazing smell of the meal. He closes the fridge and takes a step to the counter to grab a pair of chopsticks before he goes into his own room. He sits down at his small desk and eats silently, only humming a few times as his dinner is so tasty.
Yoongi can't truly process the fact how Seokjin is so caring, making food for him even though they barely know each other. It must be hard for him too - knowing their wolves got imprinted. Yoongi's a bit jealous of him - he wishes he can put this fact aside as easily as Seokjin does. He wants to be less nervous around the Alpha, to get to know him a bit better, but it feels too hard for Yoongi.
In Namjoon's case it was easy - they had the same interest: to pursue music. Namjoon - a talented and incredibly smart Beta - was the one who always brought him the notes and some other stuff from the classes when Yoongi was a private student. They barely talked as Yoongi was just as shy as how he is now with Seokjin.
But they had to do a project in pairs and Namjoon had to work with Yoongi. It was so awkward at first but Namjoon was so patient with him, giving him time, never crossing the line Yoongi made, and after a while Yoongi started trusting him. As the time went by they could work together more and more easier, showing the progressions of the lyrics and the beats of the song they had to make for the class. Yoongi remembers how hard he blushed whenever Namjoon complimented him, praising his lyrics or how well he rapped. The song they made came out well, they were proud of it and got good feedback from their professor.
After that project whenever Namjoon came over to Yoongi, it was not just giving him the notes - they talked a lot, Namjoon told stories about what was going on at the university or showed him the lyrics and songs he was working on at that time.
When Yoongi first had the thought in mind about finishing his last year as any other student, he asked Namjoon's opinion. The younger was surprised but a moment later a huge smile crossed his face, he couldn't hide his excitement. Namjoon promised Yoongi that he'd be there for him, helping him with anything he'd need. Yoongi truly appreciated Namjoon's effort, but he had to think this through.
When Yoongi was just about to start university, he had his first heat. His mother found him when he was fumbling in his bed, crying because of the pain he was feeling.
His parents made sure that besides the doctors and maids they hired, no one else could go into Yoongi's room. They did everything for Yoongi to keep him from suffering during his heat - it took a few days until it finally ended, leaving a sad and confused Yoongi behind.
During his heat Yoongi acted so differently, he was so… needy and horny, he felt ashamed at the thought of how many times he jerked himself off while he was craving to be filled, his hole producing slick that messed up his clothes and sheets over and over again.
He couldn't accept how he acted, how he felt, and after he talked about it with his parents they decided to make him a private student. His parents hired a doctor who helped Yoongi to accept himself. It was a long process, but Yoongi slowly understood what it is like to be an Omega, and how he can accept himself. He got suppressors which help to control his heats and his scent.
During the years as a private student, he only had his heat once more - between his semesters -, and thanks to the medications it was bearable. He felt less depressed than after his first heat, and he could recollect himself faster.
After all of this, Yoongi wanted to make sure it's worth it to try and finish his last semester as a normal student. He talked about it with his counselor, with his mother and with Namjoon multiple times. He had so many questions towards Namjoon, but thankfully the Beta answered all of them, reassuring Yoongi that he wasn't annoying.
At the end, Yoongi decided that he doesn't want to live the rest of his life in his room, too scared to go out, his heart heavy with regrets when he'd think about the what ifs. He asked his doctor for suppressants and scent blockers so he can avoid being noticed by Alphas.
But no matter how cautious Yoongi was trying to be, everything was thrown out the window when he got imprinted with his roommate - someone he'd never met before.
It's already hard for Yoongi to try and get to know someone, but this whole imprinting makes everything so much harder for him. He feels trapped and betrayed by his own instincts, how his inner wolf wants to be around the Alpha. He has no idea how it'll affect him, his behaviour around Seokjin. He knows he made a promise for Namjoon, and he'll keep it, he'll try to get to know Seokjin better… just not right away.
Feeling too tired to do anything, Yoongi goes to his bed after he changed into his pajamas, climbing into his bed. It doesn't take him too long until he falls asleep, unconsciously thinking about an Alpha with plump lips and broad shoulders.
★★★
Yoongi gets out of bed just as early as yesterday, taking a quick shower after he drank his coffee which helps him wake up. He takes his pills and uses his scent blocker, then he grabs his bag and he's already on his way to his first class before Seokjin wakes up. He barely sees anyone in the hallways, but he doesn't mind it at all - in fact, he's glad as the crowd makes him anxious.
The day goes on uneventfully, Yoongi only sees Seokjin once on the hallway and thankfully the Alpha doesn't notice him. He greets Namjoon who sits down next to him at his last class, and goes to the library with him after it ends. Yoongi can see in the Beta's face that he wants to nudge him about Seokjin, but in the end he doesn't do it, and Yoongi's grateful for it. They stay there for a long time, studying and quietly discussing what they had on their last class. They also show the progress of the songs they're working on at the moment, giving advice and tips to one another.
A thought goes through Yoongi's mind more than once, but he's too shy to ask it. A part of him wants to know more about Seokjin, but the bigger part of him feels like he's not ready, not yet.
Maybe you should talk with Seokjin himself, he hears his inner Omega, but Yoongi ignores him. Taking a breath, he focuses on the project he was working on.
After a while Namjoon grabs his stuff and bids his goodbye, asking Yoongi to go home earlier than yesterday, but when he only gets a lip bite from Yoongi, he slightly shakes his head and leaves.
Yoongi sighs, guilt bubbling in his belly at the sight of his friend's face. He knows he made a promise, and he hates that he's not sure if he can keep it. His life changed, he's not in his room anymore, all alone, only meeting with his parents, his doctors and his only friend. No, he's living in a dormitory, sharing a room with someone else he doesn't know at all, going to the classes, surrounded by other students. It's a lot to take in, and he needs more time to get used to it than usual.
But he'll get there.

"Oh, you're still up?" Seokjin turns his head at the voice, his eyes widening a little when he sees Yoongi stepping into their dorm room.
"Mhm, I'm just about to go to bed," Seokjin replies as he puts the now clean plate onto the dryer before he turns over, wiping his wet hands into the kitchen cloth.
"Ah, I see," Yoongi says, his hand squeezing the strap of his bag. He stands from one foot to the other, clearly nervous.
"I… I made japchae," Seokjin breaks the awkward silence, pointing to the fridge. "I put the leftovers into the fridge if you're hungry."
"Thank you," Yoongi gives a small nod, "I'll have some before bed," he adds and walks towards his room. He hesitates a little before he goes in, leaving a clueless Seokjin behind.
"Ah, that went well," Seokjin mumbles, ignoring how his inner Alpha scoffs at that. Feeling like there's nothing more he can do, Seokjin goes into his room, climbing up onto his bed with his phone in his hand. He starts reading the messages his friends sent while he was working at the restaurant, rolling his eyes at the silly jokes they made. He hears a door getting opened, light steps following it - Yoongi's probably going to have dinner.
Seokjin wants to go out and try to talk with Yoongi, but after what just happened, he's sure Yoongi would only speak if he'd ask him questions, and he doesn't want to make the Omega feel uncomfortable.
A sigh leaves Seokjin's lips, exhaustion rushing over him - he had a long day, and they had a lot of guests at the restaurant, he could barely rest during his shift.
After he wishes a good night for his friends, he locks his phone and puts it onto the nightstand before he turns to his side, fiddling a little until he gets to a comfortable position. His eyelids feel too heavy to keep them open, and it only takes him a few minutes until he falls asleep.
