14 14. Taking over Skypiea

A peace treaty was also signed between Shandia and Skypieans. It was not that difficult as Gan Fall and the Shandian chief were already having peace talks till four years ago. Everything changed when Enel Destroyed his home island Birkia and took over Skypiea, any notion of peace was rejected by him. According to the new peace treaty Shandians were allowed back into the upper yard and began to settle by repairing the ruined city of gold. What the skypieans got out of it is the permission to germinate seeds in the Upper Yard.

While the island clouds can sustain plant growth seeds can't germinate in clouds, for that they need dirt or 'Verth'. So when 400 years ago a part of Jaya island appeared in Skypiea they considered it a holy ground and waged war against the native Shandians for the control of it. A war that Shandia lost and which led to them constantly trying to regain control of Upper Yard for 400 years.

To solidify my rule I retrived the Shandorian Golden Belfry Bell and gave it to the Shandian Chief in a ceremony, though only after I copied the poneglyph. This is good because ringing the bell means peace between the two races and it is more solidifying than any peace treaty.

But when the resources of the moon wore out the three races had to leave the automata behind and leave for Earth.

While the Birkans and Skypieans settled in the Sky Islands, the Shandorians made it as far as the Blue Sea. They settled on the island of Jaya. They used to be one of the more powerful kingdoms on the Grand Line, but their city of Shandora was invaded during the Void Century by the Twenty Kingdoms. Their kingdom fell and only a small tribe was left. Their only legacy left is the ruins of the golden city Shandora and the the Golden Belfry Bell, which also has a poneglyph.

Another intresting thing I noticed is the difference in wings between the three moon races. Shandians and Skypieans have wings that are pointing upwards but the former have more feathers in their wings, and Birkans have downward facing wings resembling bird wings, though unable to fly.

History aside I also formed a proper police force for Skypiea with the White Berets as the basis and expanded it with volunters from both race. After a lot of begging from Shandian chief I decided to only lightly punish Wyper for attacking me, it has nothing to with why Raki offered herself to me to do with as I wish, nothing at all. After the punishment Wyper joined the new police force.
