8 UA Hero Exams AU? - Part 1

Day of the UA Hero Department Entrance Exams, UA High School Auditorium

In UA High's massive auditorium, thousands of hopeful students can be seen walking towards the desks, trying to find an seat for them to sit in so they can take start the Entrance Exams.

Amongst them are both Sanosuke Hanma and Toshinori Yagi, who were already seated near the front where several UA High Teachers was waiting bored out of their minds, but still keeping an eye on the examinees for any inappropriate behavior.

This caught Sanosuke's attention slightly as, while it has been a while since he watched the anime and read the manga, he was still pretty sure that this was different from canon.

'Interesting. Not surprising since it is several decades before canon, but hopefully the test will be more interesting than canon's test.'

Seeing Sanosuke's interested and thoughtful expression, Toshinori misunderstood the look and decided to talk with Sanosuke to pass the time.

"Hey Sanosuke, what are you thinking about? You seem thoughtful and strangely calm, considering we are about to start taking the exams."

Hearing Toshinori's answer, he replied with a bland expression and flat tone of voice, showing just how bored he was right then.

"Nothing really. Just waiting for the exams to start already so we can get to the action. But I am hoping that the practical portion of the exams will be interesting. There are several different types of Heroes, so i wonder how they will determine the initial Hero Classes?"

When he was finished speaking, Toshinori started to look thoughtful as well, trying to think about how they would go about testing them, since Sanosuke was right, there are many different types of heroes.

"Hm, you raise a good point that I never truly thought about. I always assumed that it would be a series of tests to see what we could do already with our Quirks. Then they would put us through a practical scenario like retrieve a doll from obstacles or something to see if we could think on our feet. Like a timed rescue the hostage or evacuate civilians scenario."

Hearing this, Sanosuke nodded himself before replying with a slightly more interested look in his face and in his body language.

"That would be a logical course of action, but that sounds like it would take too much time and resources. I'm not sure UA is willing to splurge on a lot of people who won't be accepted to the Hero Department. But following that train of thought, the showing what we can already do will most likely be part of the practicals to see how dedicated we were to our training and our potential."

As the two of them were talking, one of the teachers that looked like a female werewolf overheard their conversation and looked at them with interest, as the blond boy had accurately guessed what their exams would be.

But when her eyes landed on the massive red haired muscular teen, her instincts started acting up, warring between screaming at her that he was dangerous. Which would warrant a flight or fight response. But another side of her instincts were screaming ALPHA and wanting to mate with him.

This shocked the woman, as while she had encountered other people that set off her instincts this way, none were high-school freshman and none were as strong as this response either, aside from when she once met the martial artist / borderline vigilante Yujiro Hanma, also known as The Ogre.

'He must be His son! I will need to keep an eye on him the entire time, and inform the others about him too. Just by the feeling his presence alone gives off, this teen must be a battle crazed adrenaline junkie as well.'

With this thought floating around in her head, she quickly caught the attention of her fellow staff members and informed them about Sanosuke using code and sign language that all hero schools teach their Hero course students for uniform communication.

When they finished processing what the female werewolf was telling them, they all quickly assessed Sanosuke wearily. This had caught Sanosuke's attention and upon seeing them observe him wearily, grinned widely in a challenging, cocky way after correctly guessing why they were observing him.

Finally, after another five minutes of waiting, all the student hopefuls were seated and ready to take their exams. Which, seeing this, caused the female werewolf to step forward on the podium and address the crowd.

"Good morning everybody. We all know why you are here, so I will get straight to the point. My hero name is Fenris, and I will be your lead examiner for your exams. To keep things going smoothly, my fellow teachers Bastion, Mercury, and Soundwave will also be helping me with the exams."

"The Hero Department Exams will consist of three parts. First is a theoretical exam to see how much you know about the various hero classifications and how would you react in varying situations a hero might experience."

"Second is a physical exam to see how physically fit you are currently both with and without your Quirk. Third and final exam will be a rescue scenario / obstacle course where you must make it through a series of traps and enemies spread out on varying terrains."

"The last exam is a timed event where you will be graded on how long it takes you to accomplish the goal, how well off the target made it through, how much collateral damage you cause, and other factors as well. To be clear, if you fail to rescue the target within the set time frame, you will automatically fail that exam."

"If you fail two exams, you will not make it to the Hero Department. If there are more than sixty students that pass all three exams, then only those with the top sixty scores will make it. Now, that you have been informed, you all may turn over your test paper and start. You will have 60 minutes to complete this test."

Once she finished speaking, everybody had immediately started working on their tests, with several mumbling or thinking to themselves about what they heard, such as Sanosuke who looked intrigued by what he heard.

'Hm, interesting. Looks like Toshinori was correct. Although I wonder why Canon didn't keep these series of tests for their exam? It makes far more sense then just smashing robots and having a hidden portion.'

Quickly brushing away those thoughts from his mind, he started working on his exams, breezing through them as most of them were multiple choice with only a few paragraph questions, and one essay question at the end.

Sixty minutes later, a loud ringing sounded out in the auditorium from the clock held in Bastion's hands.

"Alright everybody! Puts your pencils down and turn in your papers to me."

After a couple minutes, all the papers were turned in an Fenris started speed reading and grading all the tests at super speed, finishing them all in just 15 minutes, while the examinees were eating snacks and drinking water provided to them by the other examiners.

When she finally finished grading everybody, Fenris stood up on the podium again and addressed everybody at once.

"Alright everybody listen up! I we are now going to proceed to the second exam! We will be releasing you row by row to follow either Soundwave to the male changing rooms, or Mercury to the female changing rooms!"

"Afterwards you will follow them to one of our training fields where you will be put through a series of exercises for your second exam. Now row 1......"

While this was going on, Sanosuke was bored out of his mind and just wanting to get this farce over with already.

'I'm so bloody bored. Hurry up already.'

Almost twenty minutes later, everybody was gathered in two different training fields, separated with males on one field led by Bastion and Soundwave, while the girls were on another field with Fenris and Mercury.

Bastion, a massive 7ft 8in tall extremely muscular man that looked to be made up of Stone addressed the boys.

"Alright, attention everyone! For this test you will be put through your paces and I expect you to give it your all! If I see any of you half heartedly performing your tests, then you will automatically fail! Now, drop down and do as many push ups as you can until I tell you to stop!"

Hearing this, everybody immediately started to do what they were told, with several people already standing out from the rest, such as Toshinori and Sanosuke, who were doing push-ups so fast they were a blur and creating gusts of wind which was blowing up dust and even pushing people away from the force of the winds in Sanosuke's case.

This continues for the next hour, with Sanosuke and Toshinori being leagues above the other contestants. Sit ups? Same as with Push Ups. Sprinting? Seemingly teleporting to the finish line with how fast they moved. Long distance marathon running? Almost caused a tornado with how fast they were moving and outlasted everybody else without a sweat before being told to stop by Soundwave.

Weight training? They didn't have weights heavy enough for either one to even feel the weight, since they only had 100 ton weights available for testing. Reflexes via wack-a-mole? Perfect scores without a single miss even when moving at Mach speeds. On and on the tests went until finally, it was over. Sanosuke not even sweating or out of breath, and Toshinori barely having a few drops of sweat on his forehead.

These outstanding feats of physical ability completely blew the minds of everybody on the field, both the examiners and the testers. All of whom shared a single thought.

'Monsters! These two are Monsters!'

While this was going on, Toshinori had a serious, intense look on his face due to concentrating on his Quirk for such long periods of time with precise control so as to not cause collateral damage while still doing his best.

Sanosuke was different however, he was completely, mind numbingly, sanity stealing BORED (like the readers at this point too, no doubt 😂!).

'Hurry up already! This is so BORING! When are we going to get to the interesting test already? ... At least I HOPE it's interesting. This day has been a major letdown so far.'

With this thought in his mind, Sanosuke follows Bastion and Soundwave to Training Ground Beta where they would undergo the final exam, all while ignoring the fear, awe, jealously, and shocked gazes aimed at him.
