2 See You at Seven, Leo

At those words, Roth knew that he couldn't convince his brother anymore. He had decided to waste his life and his unsurmountable power into saving a single mortal being. Roth only scoffed before standing straight and leaving the hospital. It was almost daybreak, and so moonlight dragons go to sleep. As for Sinclair, his day was about to get rather exhausting.

The light coming from the LED bulb overhead invaded his eyes when he opened them slowly. He still felt like he was nauseous and light-headed, but his broken body didn't even ache at all. He figured he was bruised all over, but he didn't feel any pain. Maybe because he was still lying down and had not moved yet? That thought scared Ainsley Leneghan.

The last that he remembered was hearing Sinclair's voice. However, it was all black, and there was nothing else but his mellow voice. Pfft, Sinclair? Talking with a mellow voice? That's it. Ainsley had hit his head too hard.

Then again, Sinclair couldn't have possibly sent him to the hospital. What was it that happened that broke his body?

"Damn, I remember!" Ainsley exclaimed out loud, only to choke on his own breath. He even scared the nurse that was preparing the replacements of his drips.

She yelped in surprise before glaring at the patient. "Mister! Don't do that! See what you did to yourself. Here, here, let me help you." After Ainsley calmed down and she patted his chin clean from the saliva he choked out, she sighed again. "Uhm, if you can't recognize me, it's okay. I'm just here to help your attending nurse. She's late today, so I have to cover for her rounds."

The nurse spoke to not alarm Ainsley. Based on the things she was supposed to do in the room, Ainsley had been here for a while. She figured he knew every nurse and doctor that came inside the room to check up on him.

"Sorry, sorry, I just remembered about the accident. I didn't mean to scare you, Miss Nurse." Ainsley rubbed his own chest before clearing his throat. "Uhm, it's okay. I just woke up. I'm not even sure how long it's been since I was last awake. I'm not even sure why I'm here for… didn't I die from the crash?" He only whispered the last part.

"…I don't have your records, so I can't tell you. But don't worry, it's just nine in the morning. Did you sleep well last night, Mr.—?" The nurse conversed lightly with the patient. She thought that this patient had been awake all along.

"Nine in the morning? Damn, I have to go to work. My boss will kill me," Ainsley said out of habit, only to realize that he was actually in the hospital. He was even about to tear the blanket off of him if he didn't realize that he had tubes stuck into his arm. "Ah, hahaha, wait, I can't just leave, can I? Uhm, can I borrow a phone, Miss Nurse? I need to call my boss."

The nurse nodded, but she needed to finish the changing of the drips first. She was about to take off the IV drip when the regular nurse walked in. "Hey, I'm sorry I was late. An old lady collapsed on the streets earlier. I had to wait for the paramedics to… Mr. Leneghan?"

The earlier nurse only smiled at her, not understanding the shock that came to the ward's nurse. The ward's nurse then walked towards Ainsley. "Mr. Leneghan! Are you feeling okay? Does anywhere hurt? Why are you sitting up?"

"Erm, what's wrong?"

"Can you call the doctor for me? Mr. Leneghan here has been asleep for three nights—multiple broken bones and a cracked skull. Get him for me, please—quick!"

Even Ainsley was shocked by the findings of the doctor and the nurses. He was healed overnight, and his brain—which was almost dying—was revived for some reason. Since they could only record the activity of the heart machine, they found no explanations.

However, it was good that Ainsley was already alright. His miracle must have something to do with his own body healing itself.

He was still staying in his private ward for observation. If he didn't suffer from anything strange or life-threatening within the next twenty-four hours, he was free to go home. While he was here, he figured he should be attending to a few things.

He was gone for two mornings in the company. His boss must be looking for him at least, well to beat him of course. Sinclair did not give him any leeway even if they were best friends. After all, it was Ainsley's fault for insisting on going home even if he was more than tipsy.

The phone rang, and Ainsley was calling Sinclair's personal number. Even if he was technically just an employee of the company, he was still in contact with the CEO. Moreover, the CEO didn't really mind him calling him if it was indeed as a friend.

"Sinclair King, speaking." The cold voice of the CEO came through, and Ainsley disguised his voice. "Hello, this is Terrence from *** Medical Center. Mr. King, we have terrible news about the patient you're paying for—Mr. Leneghan."

"I'm listening."

"Mr. Leneghan, unfortunately, passed away from cardiac arrest just this morning. We—"

Sinclair sighed from the other end of the line. "I see. Such a shame. I just signed his leave extension for recuperation. I guess this isn't necessary anymore."

Ainsley paused and thought for a second. He then spoke in his normal voice even if it was in a grumble: "If it's just a day, I'd rather be dead."

He didn't hear anything from the other line for a few breaths. When Ainsley opened his mouth to speak, Sinclair already responded: "One week. Stop playing around and rest. If you come here and make excuses because of your accident, I will start canceling your leaves."

"Hey, hey! How unethical! Sinco, that's unfair!" Ainsley whined. "The doctors said that my body is jelly from before!" He then grinned midway. "Can you give me two weeks?"

"Five days."

"One week! One week! Please don't take away more days!" Ainsley failed the negotiation and pleaded over the phone. "I will file all my reports on time, and I won't tell anyone that I even got into an accident! I won't say that my skull cracked!"

A smile spread across Sinclair's lips as he looked at the clear blue skies outside the office. Even if he looked so tired so early in the morning, he felt rather invigorated. "Then, I'll expect good things from Mr. Leneghan after a week."

It was followed by a smile shortly. "See you at seven, Leo."
