1 Chapter 1

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday Adriana and Adriano, happy birthday to you" everyone in the room sang while the twins grinned at the single candle on their Number 7 cake, knowing exactly what they wanted.

"Make a wish my Darlings" they smiled at their mom who kept recording on her phone and shut their eyes, blowing out the candle.

Adriana looked more like her mom, sassy and beautiful but her eyes were green, she always wondered but never asked, the same way she'd never asked about her father.

Adriano was lighter than Adriana but they still looked alike, he looked like his father in a way but he didn't know that. His eyes were a darker shade of green and he didn't bother about it unlike his sister. He and his sister were in jeans and jean jackets.

Kemi sighed and smiled, she was happy. After seven years, she still survived. She was a nurse and anonymous author, she only published a single book and it became a hit, a best seller but she didn't have any intentions to publish another one.

"They look so cute" Vicky squeaked, throwing her arms over her best friends shoulder. Victoria had become a successful?dentist, they didn't work together but they were successful and Kemi owed all her thanks to Vicky's dad and step mom, Toyin.

"Where are my favourite grand kids?" It was awkward, seeing a thirty five year old woman screaming and announcing that she had grandkids already.

"Grandma!" The kids screamed and ran into her embrace, the driver came in with two large suitcases, a pink one and a blue one.

"Grandma! Is this for us?... Thank you so much" Adriana said and sat on the pink suitcase while Adriano grinned at Toyin.

"Thank you grandma" she kissed his cheek and did the same to Adriana.

"Your grandpa couldn't come, he was too busy" the twins nodded unbothered as they opened their boxes and showed off everything to their friends.

"Pick a single toy,?a pair of shoes and five clothes you want, the rest is going into the store room" kemi said as she shared the cake she baked amongst the parents and then children.

"Momma! I can't decide what to pick... Spiderman or Superman" Adriano asked, tugging at his mother's pants.

"Hmm.. How about you take the two... Only this once Riano, am I clear?" He grinned and hugged her legs once more then ran off.?A few seconds later Adriana appeared with two shirts in her hands while she didn't hide her smile perfectly.

"Mommy, I can't dec-" kemi sighed and smiled.

"Just keep the two hunny, only this once.. And I'm watching you!" She said and Adriana kissed her thighs then ran off, showing her brother her tongue mockingly.

She noticed Joseph who just walked in. He worked as an engineer in a top company. She walked over to him with a grin on her face and he returned the smile.

"Hey babe" he said and she wrapped her arms around his waist. He pressed her lips to hers and she smiled as she bit his lower lip.

"Mom! Uncle Joseph!"the twins said in unison then glared at each other.

"I said it first" Adriana said, resting her weight on one foot as she crossed her arms on her chest.

"No I said it first" Adriano said and ran past his sister into Joseph's arms.

"Adriano! Look what you did!" Kemi scolded him amd picked Adriana in her arms.

"Apologise... The both of you, or no cake!" They immediately started apologizing causing everyone who had their attention on them chuckle.

"Good... Lets go get you some cake, how about that?" The twins nodded and smiled at each other, their fight forgotten.

"Can we eat italian tonight mama... Per favoure?" She froze in her steps and turned to Adriano.

"Don't ever speak Italian in this house... Are we clear?" Joseph groaned but answered Adriano.

"Yes Riano, we're gonna eat Italian at Fiorellis... Is that okay?" Adriano shook his head.

"I don't wanna go if mama doesn't wanna" Kemi sighed and shook her head.

"I'm sorry Riano, I'm just so jealous that i can't speak Italian... We could go out for dinner, okay?" He grinned and fist pumped his sister.

"Oh yeah!" He said and kissed his mom's forehead. Joshua placed him down and watched him run off while Kemi did the same thing.

"You still aren't over him... Kemi. If we're gonna work you have to forget him... I'm here for you already" he said, pissing Kemi off.

"You told me to take my time didn't you?, so stop complaining" he pulled her up the stairs and walked into her room, slamming the door shut.

"We've been together for seven months now Kemi, can't you just forget him... He never called you for seven years but I'm here... I'm still here!"

"Well then, since you're still here, maybe you should leave, i have a party to end, goodnight Josey" she kissed his cheek and walked out of the room.

He sighed and loosened up his tie, pacing the room. He'd loved her since she came into their school. He'd loved her for thirteen years, she'd told him she wasn't the one for him but he didn't think so but now he was beginning to think he should search somewhere else, he just couldn't.?

He walked downstairs and kissed her cheek and left without a word.

"So... You and Josey?" Vicky said as she chewed her cake.

"Aren't you supposed to be like a dentist?"

"Pfft, my patients can't see me" Vicky scoffed and picked another cake.

"But Adriano and his sister can... Anyways we're going to Fiorellis tonight, get ready" Kemi told her friend and walked away.

"Sour nurse"she muttered and Toyin slapped her lightly.

"She's more mature than you" Vicky rolled her eyes

"Whatever, she's inviting us for dinner, you coming?"

"Of course, what stupid questions you ask. I don't wanna miss my grandbabies dinner" Vicky sighed at her step mom for the hundredth time that night.

"You should stop saying that if you don't want people to think you're crazy"

"You're not talking to me, you're talking to your father's mother" Toyin hissed and eyed Vicky who snickered.
