Chapter 24: Attracting unwanted attention

"You coward, do you really think you're strong?"

The moment his voice fell, Obito felt chakra surge around him.

Thanks to the reaction speed enhancement provided by his mangekyo, he managed to pull off a kamui.

Immediately afterward, countless black needles came out of the ground and tried to turn him into a hedgehog.

"Haku, run!"

Instinctively out of fear, he ran back towards Hachiro without even getting a proper moment to process what was happening.

As soon as he took a step forward, he was surprised to find he walked through the masked man's hand.

He hurried to the side of Hachiro, feeling guilty

"I'm sorry, Mr. Hachiro."

"It's alright, most ninja don't stand a chance against these guys. Just leave him to me."

He smiled trying to comfort the kid.

The guilt on Haku's face didn't fade at all.

Obito, who had retreated a fair distance, materialized his body again.

The needles of iron sand returned under ground spreading out to go for another surprise attack.

"Do you know... me?"

Just now, when he had his hand on the little ice devil's throat, his opponent acted as if he already knew how his ability worked.

When he went intangible to dodge that attack, how could his opponent know that he couldn't launch an attack of his own.

Although, he was wearing a mask, it was easy to see how angry Obito was.

Kamui was his strongest ability that he had rarely used, unless he was confident he could defeat his opponent.

The only time he had relied on it to win an unsure fight was with his sensei, the fourth Hokage.

Hachiro laughed mockingly,

"What? I've only seen through one of your abilities and your crying already?"

"Hey, now that I think about it. That sharingan of yours seems very familiar. Though,it was a silver haired shinobi, I fought during the war that had it."

He squinted his eyes, irritating Obito by reminding him of some old, painful memories.

"Shut up!"

He was stuck in a bad spot.

If his real identity was revealed to the rest of the Akatsuki, then it would become much harder for him to use them in the future.

"Fire Style·Fire Lily Technique!"

Obito spat out mini meteors made purely from flame.

"It look's pretty cool, but really its just a phoenix sage fire with extended range."

He gave Obito a look of comtempt and taunted him,

"Wow, you really are nothing without that sharingan. At least that other guy, had some pretty cool jutsu."

"100,000,000 volts, electrical discharge."

Hachiro extended his right hand as it partially become lightning and willed the lightning to spread out in front of him.

In an instant, a portion rushed towards the angry Obito and his fire jutsu.

Elsewhere...

In the distance, a series of shocking thunder pillars could be seen piercing the clouds in the sky.

A beautiful woman with waist-length auburn hair, gorgeous facial features and a slender figure was blankly staring at the blue beam.

An hour ago, she had been making a getaway from the persuit of an Anbu unit.

She didn't expect to see such amazing scenery during her escape.

Kimimaro hesitated to open his eyes, but when he did he saw that half of the town in front of him had disappeared.

Hachiro suddenly appeared in front of him covered in electricity.

"He escaped. At least, he won't bother us for a while."

"Really?"

Haku looked at him in awe and asked.

"He's pretty shaken up that I know about his intangibility trick. His other abilities aren't all that great against me."

Hachiro explained to him.

In terms of pure combat power, Obito wasn't a match for Nagato, he was relying on deception to manipulate him, otherwise he wouldn't be able to move about as he wished.

If three years ago, Minato Namikaze understood how Kamui worked beforehand he would have won in a few exchanges.

If it wasn't for how overpowered Kamui was then, he could have been defeated instantly.

Without Kamui, he was a jonin at best, Minato had slaughtered around a hundred Iwagakure jonin in one battle before.

"Did you guys see who did this?"

A young woman's voice rang out from nearby.

"Another enemy!"

Kimimaro and Haku suddenly jumped in front of Hachiro.

Kimimaro pulled out a bone from his shoulder to use as a knife, while Haku used his poor mastery of Ice release to create a deformed mirror.

Hachiro patted their shoulders and said speechlessly,

"I can handle this myself, try not to recklessly use your kekkai genkai, it could cause us a lot of trouble."
