4 Waking Nightmare

Pain. As a awoke, all I could feel was pain.

"Ugh!" I moaned in anguish. 'Was I really talking for a solid 20 minutes with a goddess a second ago? Cause it feels like I got hit by that truck'.

I open my eyes in speculation and look around me. I am laying in the middle of a small dirt road with blood mixing with the muddy ground as water pours from above. I look to my left after a moment of contemplation and see the body of what was once a beautiful woman, now twisted and mangled with hollow white eyes staring back at me. Her long brown hair disheveled and hanging, wet with blood and mud.

I briefly retreat in fright. Despite all of my years, never have I seen a dead body before, especially not up close and staring at me with those hollow eyes. It takes a moment for me to realize the danger I am in. Staring blankly at a woman's corpse in the middle of the road. So I quickly scan the area once I snap out of my stupor. I see a shadow just beyond the treeline. While I can't make it out immediately, I recognize that it could possibly be my attacker, so I quietly shift behind a small wooden carriage I see nearby.

As I reach there I realize that I am clutching my side from pain and look down to see, to my shock, that I have a massive wound on my left stomach. As the shock fades, I begin to feel it. The immense pain of having chunks of your torso missing. I don't even notice the fact that I am in the body of a child, no older than 7.

I've always tried to stay calm, even during the most chaotic scenarios, but my senses are beginning to fail me, so I quickly think to myself [Inventory], and a light blue screen appears in front of my face. I hurriedly select one of the icons in the panel, the Senzu Bean, and watch in amazement as a small green bean about the size of a quarter materializes itself in my hand.

Not wasting any time, I immediately throw it into my mouth and begin to chew. It's hard. I've always imagined that Senzu Beans would be soft like Fava Beans due to their similar shape and color but I quickly push that thought aside for now and swallow the rather dull tasting miracle food.

Instantly I feel a wave of relief pass over me, and strangely I feel bloated. I guess instantly being full of enough food for ten days in an instant makes one less than ideal, though that feeling ceases after a few moments.

Satisfied that my body won't die on me, I once again scan my surroundings. I feel dizzy for a brief moment before a wicked headache strikes me. I nearly fall over due to the amount of pain I feel all at once. Memories begin to flood my mind. Memories of a young boy named Haruka and his parents traveling all across the Land of Water.

While Haruka never knew it, his parents were in a forbidden relationship with one another. His mother was a presumed dead Hyuga Branch Clan member and his father was the missing heir to the Kaguya Clan of Kirigakure. Adam, now Haruka finally began to recall the events leading up to his present situation.

His father and mother had been traveling merchants he was born a little more than 7 years ago. They had traveled all across the Land of water with the intention of living a slow-quiet life away from all the bloodshed and war. Unfortunately, Fate had other plans. Haruka's father Kotsuzui had heard of the recent massacre of his entire clan and the family had left to loot the secret clan warehouses in the town over before ninja from Kiri had gotten to it. While they were successful, the Kiri Ninja were able to track down and ambush his family on the roads leading out of town.

The ambush was fast and silent. A squadron of elites was able to quickly injure his father but wasn't able to capture him due to his unique Kekkei Genkai, but his mother and him were a different story. They were captured immediately but Haruka's father began to beg and bargain with the Ninja that if he turned himself in without a fight, they would let his wife and child live. Since they couldn't lose their prey just because they stayed to fight, they agreed.

As they began to leave, Haruka had broken free from his sobbing mother's grasp over him and ran after the ninja escorting his father, but a paper bomb kunai had been throw. His mother, not being a former Kunoichi for nothing, was able to grab Haruka and shield him from the blast with her body.

The explosion was powerful, more powerful than even modern grenades could accomplish. Haruka's mother was killed instantly and a large wound had left a fatal wound on Haruka. The Kiri Nin, satisfied with their work, now dragged Haruka's screaming and raging father away with haste, most likely to see him tortured and executed publically for the crimes of his clan.

Haruka grit his teeth recalling the memories. How could a group of grown men attack a child with intent to kill so easily!?! Why did I have to awaken after my parents were killed!?! For a while, Haruka stood there, in the pouring rain, cursing silently to himself about his circumstance.

...

...

...

It took nearly three hours for me to bury the body of my mother. The body of a seven-year-old child was not meant for digging graves. While I didn't know her much, I did know that she was a sweet and quiet woman most of the time. Incredibly patient and well-mannered. She had taught me everything she knew of the world. Where the nations are, how the money system worked, how to read and write. She had even taught him Caligraphy, a pastime for her, but something that would be invaluable to Haruka later in life.

Despite my sour mood, I still had enough common sense to dig graves and place the copies of my body and my mother's bodies in them and make it look like the work of a good samaritan or passerby Her original body, I stored in my [Inventory], since I wanted to bury her in Konoha, since it would be where I would be spending most of my time and where I could visit her the most often.

Luckily my old self asked to learn how to ride the carriage. Again, thanks to lady luck, or Rob, the shadow that I had hidden from was our horse, who was grazing nearby when the attack happened. Why it didn't run away when the explosion that nearly killed me went off, I don't know, but I am thankful none the less. I was able to get everything ready again and depart in another hour. I was really lucky that the Kiri Nin had to use all of their strength to restrain my father so that they didn't try to destroy my body or the evidence, and even luckier that in the close to four hours since they left, they didn't return.

I immediately began ridding my carriage down the road in the opposite direction while cursing to myself about how I only had good luck when it didn't count. I took one last look back towards where my father was dragged away and sighed to myself.

"Status" I said, trying to get my mind off the terrible fate that awaited him.

I stared blankly at my Status screen for a moment.

'Yeah I'm a little broken' I thought. While I had specifically chosen wishes and skills that would be useful in the world without getting too overpowered, I had never before thought that I would have such busted stats for a seven-year-old. Then again, I was able to both survive a paper bomb attack and move around enough to hide while I had a massive torso injury that should have killed me.

The Yin Strengthening Method and its Yang counterpart seem to be a gift from Rob since it is clear that she knew the skills I was going for, though since they mention awakening other Kekkei Genkai for the descendants of the Sage of Six Paths along with Hamura Otsutsuki's descendants, this means if I write them down, I'll have two S-Rank Hiden Techniques which I can use to bargain my way into Konoha if my Tsunade plan doesn't pan out.

All right. Time to put my plan into motion. Since I'm still in the Land of Water, I still have a few stops to make.

I open up my compass and think of my first target. With a *Ding* my target is locked onto and it seems to be rather close-by. I direct the cart towards the nearby town and towards my new loyal bodyguard and friend. I head for Haku.
