26 Greedy People

"So Wait a minute. Correct me If I am wrong but you were chased by a Saint for 3 years and you're still alive like her didn't get you?".

Lyssia is completely shocked by Alex's revelations and forgot to finish her food. She even dropped the food in her mouth and looked at Alex and started inspecting him this time closely.

After all, a Saint is considered the peak power in the western continent and other continents. If you have a Saint powerhouse in a clan or a noble family then it's considered like having a demi-god protecting and watching over you.

People who could Challenge Saints while not being one are very few and in fact, in the whole long recorded history of the western continent, those who did that could be counted on the fingers.

Alex smiled and then said, "Of course I am alive. I'm even doing well and traveling around the continent. What's interesting for me though is why aren't you trying to snatch the swords from me".

For Alex, each time people saw or had a glimpse of the swords, a whole bunch of different people would chase him to get it. Sometimes when he reaches a city then the whole city would try to get him but Lyssia didn't do the same thing at all.

She just gave him a weird look and then said, "Hey, do you think that I'm that greedy? I admit that I had the idea of taking the swords but not to the point of killing you just to snatch them. They're yours so I don't care".

Alex looked at her for a moment but he couldn't hold himself anymore and started laughing as he said, "....Hahahahaha. Wow, It's been a while since I met an honest and idiot person like you".

Lyssia became a little angry and puffed her cheeks and then said to him, "Hmph, Are you saying that I'm an idiot? If you continue saying that, I might try to take them for real this time".

Alex: "Hahahaha. You're open to trying but I don't think that it will be easy. After all, I escaped a Saint and I'm sure I can deal with someone who is on the same level as me".

Lyssia who heard him started rolling her eyes and spoke, "Don't get cocky just because you escaped. I bet that he let you go because he became bored or something".

Alex started thinking about it and then nodded as that might be true too. He then looked at her for a moment and asked, "I wonder why you believe me. Most people would say that I'm crazy for saying such a thing. After all, If that spreads, his reputation will get smeared by mud".

Lyssia couldn't hold herself from laughing and then said, "Hahaha, that's exactly why I believe you. I don't think that someone is crazy to say that he survived a Saint and doesn't fear for himself. If the Snake Saint hears about it then you're done for".

Alex smiled as he looked at her, "Yes, you're right. There is no point in lying about it although you misunderstood one thing. I didn't fight with the Snake Saint directly because I would've died with one hit".

Lyssia: "Of course, I know that but what happened then?".

Alex: "You see, In the first place, I didn't want to go to the trial thing at all but because of an old man, he made me enter that place to get him something, and at the end of the Daitu battle, The Snake Saint appeared with a bunch of other saints from different empires and other powerhouses. They came after us, all the five hundred who got out alive from there".

Lyssia: "Oh, who is this old man who made you go enter that place?".

Alex: "Sigh, my master. that crazy old bastard made me go and enter the trial grounds just because he wanted me to find something for him there".

Lyssia who heard the word master remembered something about the one who thought Alex known master and how famous he is, "Wait.....are you saying that the go.."

Alex: "Argh, don't talk about that crazy old bastard. I would swear that each time we say his name, he will react to it somewhere else in the world".

Lyssia: "Oh, okay then. Tell me then, what happened after the Saints came?".

Alex: "Because the Dark Saint forbids anyone at the Saint-level to enter, they couldn't do anything but wait for us and then take our treasure. I heard that of the five hundred people who survived, four hundred got killed and robbed mysteriously while the other hundred either went low and completely disappeared or joined and became a disciple of a Saint by giving up some of the treasure".

Lyssia: "Wow. wait, then how are you still alive if you didn't do either of those two things?".

Alex's mouth curved a little as he smiled and said, "I did a bit of both. You see, after I got out, I was chased by the snake Saint and had no choice but to hide inside the elf forest for almost a year. When he almost found me, I went deeper into the forest, and luckily I got out of the other end of the forest and reached the Tullaris empire capital ruled by the Elves".

Lyssia: "Wow, that Snake Saint is really one determined son of a bitch. To follow you for a year in the middle of the turf of another empire is crazy but wait a minute, why didn't your master help you?".

Alex: "Sigh, I don't know. I never had the chance to ask him because I was running for my life and besides, I'm sure it's a stupid reason. His personality is the worse".

Lyssia started thinking about it and how Alex talked bad of his master, "Are you sure we're talking about the same person?".

Alex: "Unfortunately yes. If you ever meet him, you will see it. Returning to the other Crazy guy, the Snake Saint became crazy and didn't even care about the swords anymore as long as he got to kill me. When I entered the capital of the elves, he couldn't bluntly enter or that will cause a war between the two empires, Agung and Tullaris which means war between elves and Onis which was something he couldn't take responsibility for so he didn't do anything and I lived happily there for another year and a half. What I didn't know was that the bastard paid the assassin guild from the black market alliance to kill me and get the treasure and the meditation technique".

Lyssia: "So he sent assassins to the middle of the Tullaris empire capital. I can't believe he became that obsessed with you. What happened then?".

"Sigh, I got rescued by the most beautiful elf. The most beautiful woman I ever saw", Alex who said that started having some glimmer in his eyes and as he talked about the woman, an affectionate look appeared on his face as and he smiled very happily as his mind started drifting away.

Lyssia who noticed that started shaking her head and said with some sigh, "Agh, Men. Why are they always like this when they talk about a pretty woman? it's like some sort of charm or something. Hey, Alex Snap out of it".

Alex who woke from his sweet dream looked at Lyssia and felt embarrassed while scratching the back of his head, " Well, let's continue. you see, In the end...."

When Alex was about to continue, he stopped and again and then turned left and stared at the bushes in the forest which looked very scary because of all the dark around them.

Lyssia who saw that sighed and said, "snap out of it. You look like a girl in love dude".

Alex didn't care about Lyssia's comment and said "It seems like we'll need to continue this some other time because we have some guests. Why don't you show yourselves or do you also want to hear my life story?".

When Alex said that, the bushes around them started moving and people from many different races started getting out of the woods. Humans, Demi-humans, elves, and even dwarfs.

Lyssia turned around her and found many people surrounding them. The number only got higher and higher as she looked in every direction. Finally, a demi-human appeared in the center of this group and gave both Lyssia and Alex a creepy smile.

The Man seemed to be in his fifties and has orange fox ears together with orange hair and tail. He also has a huge build with a big body. He also has a thick orange beard and looked just like those big warrior Vikings that destroy everything with their might.

The man smiled and raised his hand as all people stopped advancing towards Alex and Lyssia. He then started speaking, "Well, If it isn't the Strongest Kingdom knight and one of the twelve chairmen of the adventurer guild from the Adratram Empire. I heard that you're in our group but I didn't care too much. Unfortunately, you finished half of the group and we had no choice but to unite against you two".

All of those people started holding their weapons and magic wands and staffs. Their eyes shined with greed towards Alex and Lyssia. They also looked at Lyssia with their disgusting eyes that shined with lust.

The man continued to speak and said, "I bet that the golden wind swordsman would be shocked if we sent him your head. Your bounty on the blacklist is very high. Both of you are in the top five thousand".

The Blacklist is a list containing all the information about the bounty and price of the people the alliance is contracted to kill. They say that there are over ten thousand people on this list and all these names are of powerful and influential people in the whole continent.

Alex asked the man, "I presume that all of you are from the alliance and you came here the moment you heard about me and Lyssia. I am curious though, what is exactly my rank and how much money is on my head?".

The demi-human gave the man a strange look as he wondered why Alex was asking about his bounty but he shrugged his shoulders and answered him, "Your number is 5300 and your bounty is 292 million Arnas and as for her, she has the number 6440 and her bounty is 264,2 million Arnas".

Arnas is the paper currency used by the whole western continent and it's used pretty much in all the transactions. It's known that one Arnas is equivalent to ten low-grade mana stones.

Having a bounty on the blacklist of the alliance already shows how dangerous you are and how each one of your actions affects the whole continent. Although to make a big wave in the continent you need to be in the top one thousand.

Lyssia: "Eh, I am one of the 12 chairmen of the Adratram empire Adventurer guild and yet I am just 6440. That's not fair at all. We have the same level, and yet your way above me".

Alex: "Well, the list ranks you more on your notoriety and the damage you do and not only on power. In fact, the only reason I was giving that number is because of the last time that destroyed their whole branch in one of the cities in Yodatya kingdom".

Lyssia who heard that became determined as she clenched her hands and said, "Oh, when I return to the empire then I will try to do my best and destroy a few branches. I will make sure to raise my bounty hehe".

Alex ignored her and then looked at the man again and said, "I didn't expect this many people to come but this will make it way easier to pass the trial. Looking at all of you, you must be at least five hundred people. Hey, Lyssia, let's finish them and find our numbers if possible and if not, make sure to eliminate all of them so that only a few remain in the group".

Lyssia started cracking her knuckles and became excited as she yelled, "Yeeeaahhhh. Let's end these greedy people and pass to the second trial".

The demi-human felt rage as he felt being completely underestimated by these two kids. After all, He's a member of the Dark hollow guild who's one of the fifteen 1st grade guilds in the black alliance.

He's even one of the executioners of the guild who's been there for almost 300 years. He gnashed his teeth and said with a cold voice, "Kill them and burn their bodies after that. Don't leave any remains of their body".

Everyone draws their weapons and says with one voice, "Yes, Understood".

Alex also drew his two weapons and then smiled as he said, "This will be enjoyable".
