In Another World as a Vampire

"Every soul is connected to the Elfintree, its grace staining our souls and marking us, its system binding us to its will." Lexar wakes up in a mysterious world, one devoid of the life his place on Earth had and it doesn't help when he realizes that he's in the midst of a vampiric cult wanting great things from him, at least that's what they had expected. In another world as a Vampire is a story about an oblivious human pulled into the unforgiving and eldritch world of Edrim trying to survive it's trials and progressing in power along the way. Enjoy this weak to strong LitRPG with interesting characters and lore to boot. What to expect? A fantastical story that unravels slowly, characters and interactions are focused but there are lots of action here and there An interesting system backed by good lore Cool ass weapons especially swords, I love swords. The story might be slow at first but it picks up pace so please be patient. Also, I'll appreciate some powerstones, thank you!

A permit or a trick

"I didn't mention it earlier, but you have a permit right?" Oki asked.

"A permit?" Lexar uttered in obliviousness.

Realising the trouble at hand, Oki swiftly took action and pulled Lexar off the line gaining grumbles from others in it.

"Don't tell me you don't have the token to enter, you wanted to come to Everblight didn't you? You need a token to pass through the gates." Oki explained in whispers a little distant from the line.

"Luckily those savages didn't think to take my things, mine is still tucked in my vest."

Lexar stood unsure of what to do next.

"How will you get in now? There should be a way to abate the inspection. That's it?!" Oki clapped his little hands in an epiphany, luckily he brought no attention to him in doing so.

"Oh, but this might cost us." He commented.

The two walked down into the outskirts of the many dilapidated homes, the almost ghosted suburb, they searched around looking for carts that they might be able to lend.

After minutes of looking around, they spotted one just by the line of trees leading further to the forest.

It stood at the side of a house that was much better looking than the others, except that it was totally wooden, the others were of clay or concrete.

They walked to the side and they could hear the cries of domesticated animals from behind and a creature making a weird noise like it was in a bit of a struggle.

They both swiftly ran to the back and spotted their owner in a tug-of-war battle with a massive pig-like beast three times the owner's size.

[Ugor lvl 12]

His system notified.

"Help me with this." The creature struggling with the beast winced.

Behind him was a rectangular wall of wood holding the rest of its kind inside, around the wall was red grit sprinkled all around it.

The grit itself generates a weak force field that keeps the animals in but unfortunately, it is also attractive to beasts that have a taste for magic or concentrated grace.

The beast pressed its horns against its master pushing him slowly towards the space created for it.

Upon hearing the owner's plea for help, Lexar swiftly pushed the owner away and took charge of pushing against the wild beast. He held tightly its horns and instead of pushing back like its owner had done, he pulled and swiftly swung the beast through the opening and into its pen.

"Thank you." Said the farmer.

Lexar could see the owner properly now and he hadn't expected to see one ever since Ulan, they had just been non-existent that he assumed it wasn't a place for creatures like them to dwell in.

Yes, the owner in fact was human. A low leveled one. He was a man of non-impressive facial characteristics, he had an oblong face with a large curved nose, hazel-colored eyes, black hair and was of average height. He had on a brown shirt and trousers that reeked of animal dung and had the brown color because of animal dungs.

'A human.'

[Ice mage lvl 31]

His class came up.

"Physical strength isn't exactly my strongest suit." The human said and chuckled lightly.

"Thank you. And now, can I help you lot with anything?" He said and slowly looked down at the dwarf.

Oki decided to be real with him.

"We need your cart to smuggle a friend of ours."

"Oh really, a friend of yours? And I suppose this friend of yours is nearby waiting for a reply and hoping to board my cart?"

"Well, yes. Actually, this large man here is the friend . Your cart would help us conceal him, just a bit of hay and a brown cloth over it." Oki proposed.

"Hmmm, well I got a good impression of you lads, you could have stolen the cart while I struggled but you didn't. It's yours, just be sure to return it, or else I'll report to the soldiers."

"Thank you, do you have a large cloth and can we borrow some hay?" Oki asked.

Minutes later, the human ice mage brought forward a large white cloth and a handful of hay. He also lend them a pony to pull the cart, the two hadn't asked out of anxiety and unawareness.

"She's a good Missy, don't you hit her." He said to them both as he strapped the pony to the large cart.

'Should be able to move Lexar.' Oki thought.

"Before we leave, can you entertain me by answering some of my questions? I'm largely curious." Lexar said to the ice mage.

"Ohhh, ask away."

"Were you born in Edrim? I haven't seen too many humans"

The ice mage smiled at his question.

"I have seen a couple of humans, who is to say that we aren't native to lands of Edrim… but you're right to be curious, there aren't many of us. I'm from Avalyn in Xandar. A criminal wanted for dead but with the right amount of money and the predictability of human greed, I escaped and I paid a space mage to send me here, a life free from Avalyn officers, a life worth living. And you see, I'm doing quite well. Living next to the largest city in the lands and providing meat fetches quite the buck." He explained.

'So there are more humans, Avalyn. Very interesting.'

"It can be a bit stuffy and conforming up there, there's freedom like no other here." The ice mage said with a smirk, genuinely happy with his decision to leave the lands of grace.

"Lexar!" Oki yelled

"Thank you." Lexar said to the mage and hopped on the cart.

He bowed below the cloth and placed the hay on him disguising him as a batch of hay.

Oki got the hand of the pony although he hadn't ridden one before, this one was quite docile and friendly and left the reins to him.

They approached the line which now was twice as long.

As they came forward, one of the guys instructed them to come forward, it seemed like goods are given priority when crossing.

"Your token." The guard entirely clad in black armour asked.

Oki swiftly brought from his vest a wooden tab that had writings on it. The guard inspected for a little bit.

"Go in." The guard instructed and in they went.
