1 The Power of dance

The Webnovel I was reading was called "The Dance of Power".

It wasn't a mega-hit, but it was popular enough for me to read. It had its problems and its flaws, but the universe was interesting and so were the characters.

And of course, having something innovative. Be an interactive web novel.

When I started reading, I was stunned. It was my first experience reading something interactive, a story where readers could create characters to participate in the work.

It was a risky move by the author I would say, but as it was something new, I was very excited. In the contest they had, I even sent my character sheet.

I tried in every way not to make it too strong, but also not to make it too weak. I submitted a photo of what he looked like, his backstory, and his powers, however, I was rejected.

I still remember the reply I got from the author.

[Hello Vipez! I liked the form you sent to my email. First I wanted to thank you for following my humble story and always commenting on it. Second, I'm sorry, but the two character slots were chosen. Although I liked his character, he doesn't fit in what I want to do with the story, he's not good enough.]

It was a pretty short answer, saying what he wanted and being very direct about it.

I felt bad about the answer. Ah... If only I hadn't wasted so much time making that sheet, looking for a photo that matched what I wanted, and thinking of ways to hold the skill.

I didn't send a reply, I just dropped the novel.

It was good, but there were better stories for me to enjoy, and as the interaction of the chosen characters gained momentum, I started to feel bad reading that.

I mean, they're not even as interesting as mine.

Maybe that was the reason why what happened to me happened.

****

The chance of someone becoming a millionaire is one in 50,063,860. What is happening to me right now was as unreal as the chance of winning the lottery.

I was standing in the living room of an ordinary house, holding a letter.

But the room was not my room, the letter was unrecognizable and I was not "me". For, first of all, the house I was in seemed so expensive I couldn't afford it.

I was alone in the living room, and I wasn't hearing any noise, which was unbelievable since my sister was always listening to music.

Watching the brooch that held the letter, I took a deep breath and held the air in my lungs. I took off the brooch and opened the letter, reading the first line I understood what had happened to me.

The first line of the letter read: 'Dear Dreyden. You were asked for the triangle.'

I had become a character in the novel I dropped out of.

Even worse, the rejected character I created.

I had become Dreyden Stella. Dreyden lived in a luxurious apartment but had no contact with his parents. As for why, of course, it was because I wanted to.

The story I created for Dreyden is quite simple.

As the abilities of this world are hereditary, I couldn't create it without family, so I created one, but his family abandoned him, for at their discretion, Dreyden failed.

The Stella family is a family that has possession of the level 7 skill book 'Copper Body'. However, to acquire this ability, his body needs to have more vital energy than normal, and this is where Dreyden fails.

At the age of 10, Dreyden was exiled from the family, so he learned to fend for himself and take care of himself. He met a friend of his father's who helped him with a skill book.

Being raised by a special family, he was taught that people without skills are people with no future. So he focused on trying to get a skill book, but it wasn't as easy as he thought.

Then he found a friend of his father's, who helped him and gave his skill book to him.

This friend's name is Idan Vaughan, and that's the first problem because when I signed up, I didn't give this friend any name.

On second thought, I understood my situation. I didn't end up in romance, I ended up in the world of romance.

If I had gone into the novel, the world would have been just what is described in the webnovel, but it wasn't.

The current world is alive, just the fact that this friend has a name proves it.

As a result of my reasoning, I spent the last two hours lying in bed thinking about what to do. This was an elitist and dangerous world, and even though I have skills, it's still very difficult.

For example, the Triangle. A human military academy where they teach people with skills to get stronger and give opportunities to those who don't have skills to acquire one.

The Triangle is where the first volume of the novel takes place, and it's a very dangerous place, young people with skill levels 10 or 9 are quite tyrants.

And from what I read in the letter, I have to introduce myself tomorrow.

"Why... why the hell am I in this world!? I didn't even want to be my character or want him to get into the novel, I was just bummed that he couldn't!"

From what was written in the letter, I had to go to the proving ground tomorrow at 10.

My result will define which class I go to and how I will be treated in the Triangle.

There's no way around it, so first, I need to confirm one thing.

From the background I created for Dreyden, it doesn't matter if my behavior changes. His family hasn't seen him for years and they think he's dead, there's only one problem.

I don't have Dreyden's memories, so I don't know if he found his friend and gained the skill I wrote about.

I barely did anything these two hours. I spent most of the time mourning my family members in my old life, completely forgetting my current situation.

I could check this by calling his status, but I'm scared. Because if he didn't, my life, this life... will become hell.

I need the skill to survive, and I'm only going to get one from the military and besides its probably level 1 or 2, I'm going to have to sign a contract which is me agreeing to be a slave to the army.

Skill books are rare, quite rare. Most of the most powerful books are in the hands of influential families in the world, the army only has skill books from levels 1 to 5.

The skill books recorded in Gaia's rules range from level 1 to 10. What differs in the level is the type of skill, its strength, and the chance to create a new one.

For example, skill books from levels 1 to 5 have no chance to create new skills.

Books from levels 6 to 8 have chances, but not a certain percentage. The 9 and 10 are almost certain that they have more than one.

The army only has the information that the strongest existing level is 8. It turns out that the families hide it so well, that they didn't find out.

Level 9 and 10 skill books come with three skills, the problem is that it all depends on the wielder if their mana capacity can handle the skills.

Another unique piece of information for families is a different category from books.

Unregistered books, level 0 skills.

Dreyden's ability is one of those. It was the only way I could find to get my skill idea.

If I could, I wouldn't go to the Triangle, but I had no choice because in the letter it says that if I refuse, I can go to jail.

"I think I need to go, but..."

I don't know what the purpose of my being here is, what the reason is, or who did it.

In my old life, I was someone who liked to read, I never fought any kind of martial art, and I never aspired to be rich.

But in this life, in this world where humans are not alone, I couldn't afford to live like I used to.

If you don't have a skill, if you're just an ordinary human, you're useless in the eyes of superhumans.

The planet of this world is at least 5 times larger than the earth. The races of this world are equal to or more intelligent than the human race, and some of them are even at war with humans.

If an invasion takes place in a city of normal humans, I'm sorry to tell you, but you will be used as a shield of flesh.

This was the reality. People without power are treated like trash, and those with skills, however weak, are treated far superior to those who don't.

But of course, the life of a human with skill level 1 is also not wonderful, they are beaten by the strongest.

This can be seen in the novel, in the Triangle.

But after two hours, I'm slowly accepting that this is my reality.

"If I could close my eyes and wake up..."

It felt like I would live like this for a long time.

In that case, I can no longer hesitate, I needed to have strength.

And if Dreyden didn't have an ability, my new life would be something close to hell.

For many, reincarnating or transmigrating in a novel is their dream, but it wasn't for me.

In this novel, you're either strong or you're fucked.

And I don't want to fuck up.

[20:22]

It was night.

I got out of bed and went to the living room, on the TV the only thing that was on was that the Triangle exams had started and tomorrow would be the last day.

"I forgot about that... The characters created by the readers enter the Triangle 30 days after the beginning of the story."

Muttering reluctantly, I turned off the TV. I went back to bed and again lost my thoughts.

It was about time, no matter how much I delayed it out of fear. It was time to see my status.

Couldn't roll anymore, the time has come.

"Please, if there's a God out there, or whoever brought me here, give me some powerful skill or even the one I put on the record..."

I begged out loud. I closed my eyes tightly, leaving my bad expression, and finally, I yelled:

"Status!"

And just as it was described every time the protagonist does this, I felt something move inside me and leave my body.

It was my Magic Energy.

It coursed through my entire body and out of it, but even outside my body, I could still feel it, as if it were part of me. It came together and formed a square.

After a few minutes, the process is finally over.

I knew, my status was in front of me, it was time for me to open my eyes.
