Calm before the Storm (2)

The class returned to their homeroom, where all the classes, except for a specific few, were held.

Following their entrance, the door slid open, and their homeroom teacher entered again. Lin Wu never commented on his homeroom teacher, but she was someone who got quite popular back in his world.

Ellen Baker. Ranked 8th in the 'Kuoh Academy Male's Most Desired Marriage Partner.'

Lin Wu definitely agreed with her placement. As a matter of fact, anyone who saw her would agree with the placement.

Cheerful personality coupled with the standard 'teacher-waifu looks.'

He'd give thumbs up any day.

Though that was just how she displayed herself externally, who knows what her inner feelings are...

Their homeroom teacher also served as their Foreign Language teacher, in this case, American English.

He didn't really pay attention to the class, since the system had provided him with some language modules, consisting of English (American), Japanese, and Chinese (Mandarin). Two of which he already knew, so the Japanese and Chinese (Mandarin) module really only improved his intuitive grasp of the language.

Apparently, he could buy more Language modules if he wants.

But he had more important stuff to save for such as particular gadgets used by a gadget cat from the future.

"Let's start from where we stopped last time, um, Lin Wu, can you start from Book IV, lies 79-89?"

Lin Wu stood up and started reading.

"[O then at least relent: is there no place

Left for repentance, none for pardon left?

None left but by submission; and that word

Disdain forbids me, and my dread of shame

Among the spirits beneath, whom I seduc'd

With other promises and other vaunts

Than to submit, boasting I could subdue

Th' Omnipotent. Ay me, they little know

How dearly I abide that boast so vain

Under what torments I inwardly groan,

While they adore me on the throne of hell.]"

"Excellent! But remember to work a little bit more on your accent, not that it matters too much. Can anyone tell me the meaning behind Satan's lamentation?" Ellen turned away from the book, looking for raised hands.

Seeing none raised, she shrugged and picked randomly, "What about you, Yuuma-chan?"

If anyone saw the face of Yuuma, they would be frightened that such a 'delicate' girl could ever have such an angry look. Albeit reluctant, Yuuma finally relented. "Satan, or Lucifer, admits that the only way to return to his former place in Heaven, is to repent. But for Lucifer, repentance—or submission, is a price too high to pay. Pride is the sin that held him back; the worship of the rebel angels held him back even more. They viewed him as someone powerful and confident, not someone who would submit. His pride is what commits him to his cause; the lamentation reveals his two-faced ch—."

Luckily Yuuma stopped in time.

"Well done! Let's continue with the next passage, Kagura-chan?"

"[Hwat?]"

"Umm... What about you then, Misaki-chan?"

--------------------------------

Luckily for Lin Wu, lunch was just lunch.

Meaning he just slept through the chatter since he wasn't working. He also didn't want to think about the part-time job either.

The next class came quickly after his eyes opened. The class was Pre-Calculus, a surprise considering they were the only freshman in High School.

But this is the standards of Kuoh Academy.

It wasn't a hard class, since some memory of cramming for the National College Entrance Examination back in his old world came back, acting as a supplement to the teacher's instructions.

Luckily, this class was remarkably 'normal.'

As in the teacher was a friendly 30-year-old teacher.

'I hope it stays like this.' He hoped, doing the exercises taught by the teacher.

The next and last class before Home Room was Physical Education.

Each day of the week, there would be two to three class that wasn't taught, in the case of Tuesday, it would be Physics I, Civics, and Japanese Language.

He wasn't going to question it though.

'Because which school seriously teaches foreign language and have them read Paradise Lost at the same time?'

Everyone knew that Paradise Lost was no joke, especially apparent by the fact that Natsumi was utterly 'dead' in the class.

"Oh right," The math teacher stopped before turning to the rest of the class, "Seta-sensei said that she wouldn't be coming today so your next class would be a free period again."

'Oh thank god Choo-Choo Train isn't here today,' Lin Wu let out a sigh of relief, 'I'm safe! I don't even have to go to the nurse office just to skip class and be forced to deliver medicine instead!'

Instead of finalising his notes like the person sitting diagonally behind him, Lin Wu hit the desk sleeping.

Or he would, had the door not been slammed open.

"[Oops, too hard.]" Ellen walked in as she gently slid the door closed.

"I heard that Seta-sensei wouldn't be here today, though I did see her walk out with Emi and Gilma-sen," She shrugged, not choosing to dwell on it, she continued, "I have an announcement to make so please pay attention. [Wake up, get up,] the day is almost over! Once I'm done, you can leave early!"

Lin Wu immediately got up.

Ellen skimmed the paper once more as she turned to the class. "Three news. The first being that the Hero Association would not be coming here next week to recruit interns."

Complaints could be heard in the background, Ellen panicked as she tried to comfort the class. "[Oh come on, it's not that bad! They'll be back again!]" She unconsciously went back to English.

"The second news is that Kuoh Academy starting from the Middle School division and upwards will be undergoing a week-long vacation in preparation for something you'll learn later. Lucky for me, only combat-ready teachers, such as Emi-sensei, Gilma-sensei, Seta-sensei, and the like would still have to work." She let out a soft smile.

The class seemingly harped on the words 'combat-ready.'

"Emi-sensei is considered a combatant?"

"Yeah, didn't you check the faculty list? Her quirk is even listed there. Honestly though, considering her quirk, I'm surprised she's teaching in Kuoh instead of somewhere like U.A."

"What's her quirk? Mine is so plain..."

"Weapon Creation or something, I don't particularly remember."

"I have a friend who has a similar quirk! Hers is just called Creation!"

"Wait, wouldn't this mean that quarterly exams are pushed back as well?!"

"YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! IM GOING TO UPGRADE MY COLLECTION THIS WEEK, ISSEI, DO YOU WANT TO HELP?"

"Sorry! I have to do something!"

Ellen smiled as she looked back at the paper. "I wouldn't be so sure about that, but do check the school website for more information later~" The teacher smiled before she continued.

"As for the third news, it's not really 'separate' from the second news; I was just informed about reminding you guys to check the school website as well as watching the General News Channel tonight at 09:00 PM."

Ellen then started organising her paperwork while everyone started gossiping.

What about Lin Wu?

He went to the restroom, of course. He wanted to go home. Considering how sunny it was, and likely for the rest of the week, the only other way is to use transfer through the metals (or concrete, given enough voltage).

'A free week,' He summarised, 'Maybe I'll focus on researching how properly use this power.'

As a matter of fact, his skills, or rather the lack thereof, in reading the Electromagnetic Waves handicapped him in the information-gathering department. With so much information flowing in the waves, it's hard to filter out which ones are needed and which ones are not. Sometimes, the important ones would be drowned out by the useless ones.

Despite being able to hear everything going on in City A, his skills in 'sorting' them haven't been fully 'integrated' yet with the skillset of a certain man. The system had told him that it would at least take a month, meaning that only at the end of this week would his skill set be appropriately integrated. Maybe if he practiced some bit, it'd be faster...

Lin Wu prayed that the end of the week would come soon.

Because he honestly didn't like the foreboding feeling swarming his chest.

Sorry English not native.

Sorry about the delay. Got internship and some irl stuff.

Wrote 3.5k words in total (2k on the first and 1.5 on this).

On a side note, don't expect a daily release. I'm just a regular writer, not like some of the other god-level writers here.
