Arthur Pendragon

Arthur Pendragon is a fictional character in the Type-Moon universe, known as King Arthur. He is one of the heroes from the legend of King Arthur and has been portrayed in various works, including "Fate/Prototype" and "Fate/Grand Order". In the Type-Moon universe, Arthur is a Servant in the Saber Class, who is summoned to fight in a Holy Grail War. He is portrayed as a just and charismatic leader and is famous for wielding the legendary holy sword Excalibur.

Abilities

Arthur is summoned in the Saber-class, the first ranked Servant in the Tokyo Holy Grail War.[5]

Arthur Pendragon, also known as King Arthur, is a legendary figure who ruled as the King of Knights during the age of legends. As commander of the Knights of the Round Table, he led the greatest knights who became legendary heroes. If summoned as Servants, any of these knights would have formidable fame and strength, but Arthur is considered the strongest among them. Even Mordred, a first-class Servant with Saber-class power, is overall weaker than Arthur's own father, King Uther. One of Arthur's Knights, Gawain, claims he could easily defeat Mordred even at night when he is three times weaker than during midday, when he is considered equal to Arthur. Another Knight, Lancelot, was famed as the strongest of the Round Table but also considered Arthur invincible and superior. As a Servant, Arthur is considered the strongest Heroic Spirit in the Saber class, known as the "Most Outstanding" among the seven classes for its excellent ratings in all categories.

Magic Core

Saber has a unique and powerful Magic Core due to being born with the Magical Energy of a Dragon. Her Magic Core is different from that of normal magi, as it works like a factory that creates Magical Energy with tremendous capacity, generating energy independently of her body simply by breathing like dragons. It is so powerful that it rivals the heat of the Earth's core and made Excalibur the strongest holy sword. This makes her magical power superior to that of the other Knights of the Round Table. However, as a Dragon, she has difficulty dealing with beings like Siegfried and weapons with the anti-dragon attribute, like Arondight. Additionally, she requires a "starting key" to access extra energy in case she herself is too weak. Agravain claims that her heart is a single dragon and that she possesses Magical Energy like that of the gods.

Combat

Arthur and Brynhildr's blades collide at such super high speeds that their visual information couldn't be recognised by the minds of ordinary people.[5]

Arthur was able to fight Mordred, Arash, and Cú Chulainn simultaneously. While Mordred and Cú managed to get a few good hits, Arthur's seasoned face didn't change. Cú asked Arash to go all out, claiming that they would never be able to pin down Arthur otherwise. Henry Jekyll says he is glad he didn't participate in the battle, and that while Hyde might be able to keep up, there's no way he could. Hassan of Serenity also implied he didn't fight Arthur because he tries avoid "warrior types."[15]

Gawain powered by the sun was able to block a surprise attack from Arthur. Gawain says he can't imagine anyone else besides Arthur who could make for a worthier opponent.[14]

Skills

Class Skills

Magic Resistance (A Rank): He, who is in the Saber Class, is in possession of a high-ranked Magical Resistance Skill. It is generally impossible for modern mages to inflict damage on him.[4]

Riding (B Rank): It is possible for one to operate all vehicles and beasts freely except for Magical Beasts, Phantasmal Beasts and Divine Beasts.[4]

Personal Skills

Mana Burst (A Rank): He is endowed with an extremely high-ranked Mana Burst Skill.[4]Sign of the Red Dragon (A Rank): Upgrade from Mana Burst (Fate/Grand Order).

Instinct (A Rank): At Rank A, it is essentially in the realm of predicting the future. Through this ability, it is possible to negate the penalties inflicted by visual and auditory interference to a certain extent.[2][4]Dazzling Journey (EX Rank): Upgrade from Instinct (Fate/Grand Order).

Giant Beast Hunt (A Rank): A skill that denotes having abundant combat experience against giant enemy lifeforms. King Arthur fought against and managed to completely defeat all the magic beasts that attempted to tramp down Britain.[1][2][4]

Charisma (B Rank): The natural talent to command an army corps. At this occasion, Arthur has been specialized for battle against large animals. Since the allies cannot keep up when fighting against large animals, and he ends up all alone, there is no place to display his Charisma.[1][2][4]

Noble Phantasms

Arthur's main Noble Phantasm is Excalibur Proto, the Holy Sword built to defeat an outside enemy that threatens to destroy the planet.[4] Its power is normally suppressed by the Thirteen Seals, and its True Name cannot be invoked unless seven or more seals are released. Even in this state, it still has a power befitting an Anti-Fortress classification.[4] While powerful enough to overpower Gilgamesh's Enki and defeat him,[8] it still falls short when compared to Ozymandias' Dendera Electric Bulb. It took the combined efforts of Arthur using Excalibur and Arash Stella powered by three Command Spells to defeat Ozymandias.[7]

By releasing an unknown number of seals, Arthur was able to defeat Whore of Babylon, a Beast boasting First Planetary Class Saint Graph Output which surpassed that of Goetia and the Alien God in Olympus.[16]

Arthur's second Noble Phantasm is Invisible Air.

Avalon, also known as The Everdistant Utopia, is the revered scabbard of Excalibur and represents the utopia sought by King Arthur. It was stolen from her shortly before the Battle of Camlann by Morgan le Fay and is a luxurious piece of equipment made of gold and decorated with blue enamel, resembling a treasure that symbolizes dignity and nobility rather than a weapon. Its Divine Mystery is unknown, but it was created by fairies along with Excalibur, and an inscription in Fairy Letters is engraved at its center to signify its non-human origins. It grants limited immortality through constant regeneration and protection from physical deterioration caused by aging. The utopia Avalon is believed to have originated from the Greek Mythology island that produced the "Apple of Immortality." As a unique case, Avalon is not a Noble Phantasm brought forth from the Throne of Heroes with the Heroic Spirit or one that is actually possessed by King Arthur.

Rhongomyniad is a tower of light that serves as an anchor for the various layers of the world. It grants its authority to Arthur Pendragon in the form of a lance. The Holy Lance of King Arthur is known as Rhongomyniad: The Lance that Shines to the Ends of the World. It is a Divine Construct weapon, considered the "spear of the end" that brings down the light of destruction from the heavens. Its power is said to be comparable to that of the Holy Sword. Rhongomyniad's original power is limited due to the Thirteen Restraints, which restrict its strength and form as a Noble Phantasm. To unleash its full power, at least half of the Thirteen Restraints must be lifted. However, if its True Name is invoked without fulfilling this requirement, it will still emit a fragment of its power. When its True Name is fully released, its Rank and classification change.
