2 Chapter 1.1 I'LL SERVE
"Eleanor, sweet heart I know this may be hard for you, but you have to understand rules like this were put into place for a reason of protection for each species especially humans." Lily spoke to me as we sat at the round table in a small conference room, we are here at the pack house.
She and another man, Jacob, both Human, here to talk to me about my options doing their jobs as Human Ambassadors to represent their kind.
I knew this was coming, it was only a matter of time before this meeting occurred, for me to know and understand my new place in life as a Human.
It's barely even been two weeks after I lost my wolf and yet here, I am sitting at the table with the ambassadors already.
No shock to me though, my pack, my people, are already itching to get rid of me. And my parents didn't even bother to show up and sit here with me considering I need a guardian for being underage.
Though they haven't been guardians to me since my true status of my wolf came to be and let's not even bring up my sorry excuse of a brother.
"Sadly, your parents couldn't come to this meeting, already taking responsibilities over pack lands to help with other wolf problems, the next in line to be here with you today would've been your brother but he refused attendance." At least my parents gave an excuse that came to them last minute when they knew this was approaching.
Not wanting anything to do with their child finding ways to not be present, same old mom and dad.
My brother however, he at least could've said he had training or something but couldn't even bother to make it seem he was busy even if he just assigned himself to do it last minute like mom and dad just flat out said no.
Lily took notice of that. I bet reading over the files and looking at me after finishing reading off as to why a substitute guardian had to be in place of the ones they actually have.
I saw the look she gave for a brief moment. The look of pity did nothing but light a small spark of anger in me. Pity I fucking hate it.
"Which is the reason that brings us to this lovely lady sitting here with us I presume", Lily continues, "Alice, a Warrior Wolf who decided to be your stand in guardian today. That is very nice of you to volunteer."
Alice, I saw her once or twice around the pack house, but I do know not to mess with her, she is a powerful wolf of her status, I heard rumors she may be picked soon for the running of top twenty for the warrior she-wolves.
Pretty outstanding, especially considering her training has been going for only five years now. To reach that high so fast is amazing.
"Wasn't much of a volunteer really it was a give or take transaction, I wanted something and doing this gets me it." She spoke, well at least she's honest. "Besides," she continues, "I don't see why some had a problem with this anyway, what's the big issue here the girl lost her wolf and now she's Human, they're making it seem like she committed some type of murder."
Wow, she's the first, the first person in this pack house who doesn't care. "Thank you" I spoke out softly. Alice set her gaze upon me for a moment in confusion before returning It back to Lily and Jacob, who I can clearly tell is a man of few words.
"It seems that your people just have a high standard for themselves" Lily said in answer to Alice's rhetorical question.
"If we are going with that then its nothing but a power thing, look down upon the week, its really fucking stupid" she retorts back in a huff. "All that aside, this meeting, what is it for? I do have many things that needs to be done today."
"Yes, let's get down to the purpose of this meeting, Jacob and I do have other matters to attend to today as well." Lily states as she looks over her files once again, "we don't have much on you yet Eleanor, considering how fast this came about nothing much was put into place for you has of yet but doesn't mean that it won't. Considering Alice here is your stand-in guardian she can agree to these terms with or without our consent. Do you understand?"
"Yes" Lily nodded her head at my agreement and looked towards Jacob. My guess is to continue and hear I thought he wasn't going to speak today.
"You are now Human, therefore means that your place is among us" he started, yet his words spark fear through me, live among the Humans, I cannot I am not one of them I was born a wolf and shall be a wolf. "But due to the circumstances of finding proper fostering for you since your underage has been coming to some difficulties. Finding a good home for you and to go about this change will take some time."
"I do not wish to leave" I blurted out, "this is my home I'm not going anywhere you must be mad to think otherwise."
"I know this may be hard for you Eleanor but you have to understand thi.."
"There has to be something else" Alice states, cutting off Lily midway. "Sorry, but I'm with the kid here, she doesn't want to leave her home, she grew up here, think of something else for the time being before you force her off."
"No one is forcing me off anywhere I will stay here that is for certain, why can't I do what the other Humans do here and work?" I exclaimed.
"You want to serve?" questioned Jacob, as he looked at me with disbelief, "You are a child and you think working and serving is your choice right now, absolutely not" he finished, but I would have none of that.
"And why not?" I questioned back, "in your world and rules sixteen-year-olds have jobs and work to earn pay. I will do the same but to earn my keep here in my home."
"She has a point" Alice inputs, putting more value on my statement. "I don't see a problem with it, let her serve this rotation then we'll go from there."
Rotation? What the hell does that mean? I questioned myself. "By the look on your face you seem lost" Lily spoke up. "You ask to serve yet by that look you have no idea of the rules of it all do you."
"Does it matter?" I responded.
"Yes, considering the rotat.."
"Will serving allow me to stay here in my home?" I asked cutting her off.
"Yes, bu.."
"Will this harm or threaten my life in any way?" I questioned.
"No, bu.."
"Then I'll serve" I stated strongly. But Lily looks as though she has more to say on the matter but Jacob quickly dismisses the thought of it.
"Leave it Lily, if the girl wants to serve let her serve" he spoke out to her.
"But Jacob" Lily started but by the shake of Jacobs head she stopped.
"There's no need, it's like my children at home let her find out on her own, she wants to serve let her, it gets her what she wants, to stay here. Though she fails to look at the bigger picture of it all she will eventually, besides I don't have time to go back and forth with a child anyways." Jacob states but I just scoff at that statement, what the hell is that supposed to mean anyways.
I've seen the services and spoken to some as well before no problems to say for me not to agree to this. "Plus, this gives us time to get all her things settled and set and when the time comes all will be ready for her, I don't see the issue with it."
"Great looks like we are all in agreement besides you Lily what do you say, Yes or no?" asked Alice
Lily looked at me, taking a small breath and looking to be collecting her thoughts, "are you sure Eleanor, you wish to serve?" she asks me, I just nodded my head in agreement. How many times must it be said that I'm not leaving my home. "Okay then it is agreed. We shall put it down that Eleanor is here to work." Lily says then takes a glance at me "and me and Jacob will see you at the next rotation."
"You both are free to go then" Jacob inputs, "we shall wait here for one of the Betas wolves to come and discuss Eleanor's placements."
"Eleanor, seriously, snap the hell out of it and help with the dishes. Some of us have better things to do than clean up the breakfast aftermath all day long so get to it" snapped one of the human girls I serve with, Jessica, a rude bitch she is.
"Yes, sorry I'll get right to it" I said to her softly. Can't cause any trouble with her like the last time. I do know that when it comes to serving or working, you only have three chances then you're out and I cannot afford to be out. I will not live among humans, I just can't.
