[Start]

Yawn stared at the screen, the text flashing mysteriously. Yawn had to wrap up things at work before any investigation into the power could be started.

The text that flashed before him did excite him though.

[The Imperious Empowerment System Awaits Activation, say "start" to boot up the system.]

Even if Yawn no longer had to work he still had to go to class. It was only after his classes were over could he figure out whatever the hell the strange screen was. Good thing that he could start up the system whenever he desired.

He apologized reluctantly to Smith for punching him and to Smith for his behavior before leaving to head to his classes at his College, now jobless but not powerless.

After taking a bus to college, he entered the campus and finished up things there. In order to get back to understanding his power. If he was lucky, it could help him figure out a way to earn some cash.

If he wasn't, he might have to sell some things. Hopefully, it would not come down to that.

Back at his apartment.

Seeing the screen, Yawnstill could not believe it. He had a power of his own. Now, seeing that the screen remained he could finally be more positive about today. It was not a trick.

He sat down on his bed saying the word that he had been waiting all day long to say. "Start!"

[The Imperious Empowerment is a one of a kind power.]

[Do not fret as with time, effort and luck you shall have power beyond your imagination. ]

Once Yawn read this, he felt that his hopes were dashed until he read further.

[As for how it works is that the IES converts all moments of you having an advantage over others to points that are utilized by the system to improve yourself.]

That sounded to Yawn great if only he had any damn advantages over other people. He has many disadvantages if it was based on Yawn's disadvantages Yawn would be rolling in IES points.

[To celebrate the successful activation of the IES, you will be granted a sum of 1,000 IES Points. You may use the points as you see fit.]

Yawn's birthday was getting better and better.

[The commands of importance are as follows: User and Shop. ]

[The "User" command displays your current standing, your strengths are graded numerically.]

[Shop is where you can spend IES points. ]

[You may not get a refund on anything you purchase with your points.]

[Best of luck Yawn.]

After that, the screen faded away.

The first thing that Yawn tried was the User command.

[User Information]

[2 Luck (Not Upgradeable ) ]

[10 is peak human. 5 is average. 1 is practically nonexistent. ]

After reading his stats Yawn fully accepted that this system was the real thing.

With this system, he would be able to change his fate.

Yawn had to find out a way to pay the 2500 that he owed to Smith, or rather Lane. As Yawn was running out of time to pay the money back. If he wasted just a day, who knew what the consequences would be.

Yawn could think of a few things that he could try to make enough...

He could sell a few of his already small amount of possessions. He did not want to part with his computer. Yet it would be like everything else and besides his bed what could he sell. He did not own much, he could take a loan, but that would create new problems that he did not want to have to worry about.

Yawn had to pay 2500 dollars to Smith and then there were rent and bills all in all-around 3100 dollars. Though Yawn had a bit longer to take care of the 600 bucks he didn't have much longer.

Yawn had 2000 dollars saved up, however, he nevertheless lacked around 1100 dollars which would have to be from somewhere.

Yawn decided to check out the shop next.

What he saw initially was a list of categories of items. Consumables, Wearables, Tools, Powers, Modules...

Yawn opened the consumables category, he saw potions that increase a human's longevity potions that reconstructed missing limbs, potions that cured diseases... pills that restored... vigor.

There were thousands and counting of consumables.

The cost of the human longevity potion was in the tens of thousands range while the missing limb potion was 1000 points.

Yawn decided to go straight to the powers. That was what he was most interested in anyway, and the number of powers equaled if not surpassed the number of consumables in the shop not that Yawn could see the end of the shop in sight.

Super Hearing - 500P

Minor Wound Regeneration - 1000P

Basic Magic nullification - 30000P

Minor Telekinesis - 5000P

Fire Breathing - 2500P

Telepathy - 1000P...

Yawn was yet to begin his power-filled life because of that Yawn had to pick a useful power.

Yawn chose to keep looking.

He had little to complain about as he could purchase a power. But 1000 points wouldn't be able to buy any top tier powers. Though that was to be expected with a gift for using the system for the first time.

Yawn decided to head out for a bit, getting some air would help him to clear his head. There were millions of powers meaning that then more than likely he would find a power that would be extremely beneficial regardless of his current capabilities.

Yawn began walking down the street - the moon already was hanging brightly in the sky above. It was not clear immediately but people were screaming.

Yawn hearing this decided to check out the reason behind the screaming and traveled closer to the source of the noise.

Once he was closer to the noise Yawn realized something. The people were not screaming, they were cheering. Yawn wondered, what exactly were the people cheering for?
