1 Hateful

He could hear the laughter coming everywhere. The students were getting closer to see what was happening and couldn't help but laugh when they saw the situation. His face began to turn red due to the anger that all that caused him. The guy standing in front of him held out his hand to help him up, but Sebastian had enough of that "great" scene that, thanks to that boy, had been created.

He took the boy's hand away, getting up on his own while cleaning up the remains of food that had fallen on him. He breathed deeply to calm himself, but the words that followed came out without authorization.

"I hate you, Nathaniel Moonchild!" He shouted and ran away of the lunch counter, pushing away anyone who gets in his way. He didn't want to hear more of that laughter, nor the boy's voice apologizing. He knew him too well to believe his words. Because, since the arrival of that silvery boy to school, the perfect life of the class president, Sebastian Sorrow, had been ruined.

He knew that his popularity had also been badly hurt because, from now on, they would no longer know him as the "attractive president from the third class, Sebastian Sorrow", but as "the fool who had food thrown on him, Sebastian Sorrow".

His problems began just when the boy stepped inside the school. HIS school. Because all his problems started that first day when Nathaniel "accidentally" wet him with a bottle of water. At that moment he kept himself of getting angry, because he believed that he would never see him again in his life. However, they both stayed in the same class. He tried to make a change to the first class, where his best friend, Hirsch Lovejoy, had stayed; but the permission was denied and he was forced to put up with the hateful Nathaniel Moonchild in class.

And, if that wasn't enough, Hirsch had come up with the great idea of inviting the new one to have lunch with them, because he seemed lonely and lost. His friend didn't mind Sebastian's whining to keep him from sitting down, since the redhead had told him that his first meeting with the silver-haired guy had been an accident and that the class president couldn't be rude to the new ones.

That day passed between laughs from Hirsch and philosophical comments from Nathaniel, while Sebastian had a tic in his left eye.

Happiness returned to him when his partner commented that he would no longer sit with them because he was thinking of sharing that time with a friend who had finally made. However, Hirsch, upon learning that the boy's new friend was in his same class, he also invited him for lunch. And misfortune returned to him in less than a couple of hours.

The boy, named Yoram Faircloth, was somewhat quiet, but he seemed to feel comfortable there, although his face didn't show any emotion. The chestnut had already been in the school before, they had shared a couple of classes previously, but Sebastian had never spoken to him, until that moment. "I think I prefer that guy more than Nathaniel Moonchild", he thought.

And Sebastian started getting new "friends", since the silvery guy talked to boys of younger years and therefore, he invited them too. Until the little couple of friends became a group of seven students of different grades. It was at that moment that he found out that Nathaniel was sixteen years old –unlike all the other students of twelfth grade who were seventeen–, but, because of his big brain, they made him enter in twelfth grade because he already had eleventh grade studies without even having completed the year. And that annoyed Sebastian even more.

"Sebas..." The voice made his thought bubble explode.

He looked up, meeting his best friend, who was standing holding his locker door. Hirsch smiled at him and, for a moment, he felt calmer. His friend held out his hand to help him out, which he slowly accepted, going out into the corridor that, at that time, was desolate.

"How did you know I was here?" Sebastian asked looking around to make sure no one else was there and take the opportunity to take a photo in such a horrible appearance.

"You always hide in your locker when you feel bad. I think it was intuition", the redhead took both of his hands, stroking them with his thumbs. "Nathaniel..."

"Don't talk to me about him. I don't want to know anything about him", he abruptly released Hirsch and leaned against the lockers that lined the wall.

"Don't be so hard on him. It was not his intention to throw his food on you".

"How do you know that?" He questioned, crossing his arms. "Since I have known him, he has done nothing but annoy me."

"Sebastian, don't hate him just because you have personal problems. It's not his fault..." He approached him, but the aforementioned one moved away annoyed from the lockers.

"Oh, of course he's all to blame." His face was red again and he began to shake his head from side to side. "No one has ever done this kind of thing to me before. It's his fault he's too clumsy, even if everyone sees him as a genius." The redhead was going to speak, but he interrupted him raising the tone of his voice a little more. "And I'm not taking it out on him for personal problems I've had!"

"Well, it's not like you're treating him so well either." Hirsch sighed. "It was an accident, why you don't want to understand that?"

"Whose side are you on, Hirsch? Weren't we best friends? Or have you let him wash your mind like everyone else?"

"What are you saying? Of course, we are best friends, but you are being unfair to him".

"You are the unfair here! You are supposed to support me and not defend him!"

"I'm doing it because you're being an idiot!"

Sebastian's eyes widened and it didn't take long for him to feel the burning in these, signs that he was about to cry. Very few times his friend raised his voice, when he was really upset, but it was very rare to see him in that mood. And even less when it came to Sebastian. But, at that moment, he realized something: Nathaniel Moonchild had ruined the only sincere friendship he had.

"Okay", he took a step back, holding the urge to cry, "I see that luck is not in my favor this time".

"Hey, Sebas..." Hirsch tried to take him by the shoulder, but the black-haired one moved away, pushing him in a sudden movement.

He said nothing more and took the small suitcase that was in his locker where he keeps an extra uniform. It was Hirsch who forced him to have a change of clothes at school in case he got dirty with something, because he knew that the Sebastian could not bear to spend a day in a dirty uniform. And in those moments, he really appreciated that change of clothing.

He closed the locker tightly, making the redhead jump from the thunderous sound it made. With the little dignity that he had, he walked down the hall with his back straight and his head held high. Hirsch called him over and over again, but he chose to ignore him. It was better that way. Because the pain that his best friend had caused him was already done.

And all because of the hateful Nathaniel Moonchild.
