3 Chapter 3 Endless Mountain Clans
The house where they put Lucis at is at the end of the village near the path towards the the tallest mountain. All the villagers live near the gate and it take 10 to 15 minutes walk before they can reach Lucis house.
Lucia lay down on the straw bed looking at the ceiling loss in his own thought.
'I need to recover my injury as soon as possible before anything else' Lucis took off his jacket and his shirt examining his body. Beside external injuries, everything still in good condition except the tired body. He's more skinny than he thought, similar to the villagers.
"My energy point barely forming and that old man wasting that much effort to chase me.. What a bad luck." Lucis frown looking at his abdomen where his energy point and the source of his cultivation. His spiritual root.
He sit up and cross his legs, closing his eyes and began meditating to recover his energy back. He feel like a person that has been traveling in the desert without any water.
"the energy here is scared.. better than nothing.. " he murmured after discovering that the energy here is a lot thinner than the NorseThunder clan.
Knock Knock
Suddenly the front door is knocked. Lucis barely start recovering and someone already disturbing him again. The knock almost destroy the already badly recognized as door.
Without even saying anything, two people come in. The village chief and girl about 15 or 16 walking in with a bowl in the girl hand. The girl look beautiful if not for how skinny and rough her skin are. Life's here is hard even for a young girl like her. Lucis live in the town before and the girl there is pampered that here.
"sorry to disturb..." the village Elder suddenly stop walking and stare at Lucis like he's seeing a ghost.
"what's wrong grandpa?" the girl look at the village Elder surprised when he suddenly stop.
Lucis end his meditation and slowly open his eyes, feel a bit annoyed but he hide it with his calm expression. 'you better be. What if I have an accident.' Lucis curse secretly.
"mister.. mister Lucis, are you an immortal?" the elder remember really well about how cultivator meditated. He remembered how cultivator sit exactly like Lucis during his younger day as a merchant. He encounter BlueCloud Clan disciples couple of time during his visit at the town that belong to BlueCloud Clan.
Lucis stare at the elder and paused for a couple of seconds before finally letting out a small smile.
"you mean cultivator? Yes, I'm one of them"
The Elders feel like he's been hit by a lightning. This is his first time he's standing close to a cultivator. For him, cultivator is like a God, lifting mountain, controlling rain and fire. They're being that should be worshiped and respected.
The elder feels like his knee getting weak. His back start sweating cold. He open his mouth trying to say something but nothing come to out from his mouth.
"for.. forgive my pre.. previous offense, please punish me and me alone. I beg you please spare the other.. " The elder quick grab the girl beside him and kneel in front of Lucis. He's filled with terror and his imagination running wild imagining Lucis burning the whole village.
The girl terrified, the porridge on her hand fall to the floor and she keep looking at her grandfather and Lucis feeling confused and fear at the same time. He never seen her grandfather look this terrified.
Lucis quickly grab the elder hand and force him to stand back up. "elder please.. Don't think too much of it. It's a small matter." even Lucis is terrified by the elder action. During all the years he stay in NorseThunder clan, no one look at him like that, in fact, almost everyone look down on him. He didn't know that to mortal like the elder, cultivator is someone to be fear. He was expecting a line up of people trying to be his disciples or lackey.
"I... I.. " the elder didn't know what to say, it's like his brain is in chaos. He can't think straight and fear overwhelming him.
"please, you don't have to do this. Just treat me like normal person." Lucis is forced to hold the elder straight or he gonna prostrate himself at him again.
"don't think too much about it, I'm not like the cultivator you're thinking about. Just treat me like before, I feel more at ease like this." after a bit of processing, Lucis pretty much figure out why they behave like this. He's all too knowledgeable about this from novel.
"if.. If you said so.. Dini, quickly, go get another serving for mister Lucis." the elder wipe the sweat on his forehead. He still keep his guard up against Lucis at this moment.
After Dini look at her grandfather and Lucis a couple of time with confusion, she quickly grab the bowl on the ground and ran back home.
After the elder calm down, it's Lucis turn to interrogate the elder. He ask about the surrounding force and land.
It turn out, this so call DragonFort village is originally within BlueCloud clan territory but it is pretty much abandoned by the clan.
The surroundings village within 100 kilometer is abandoned by the BlueCloud clan and all the monster is running rampant without any force to take control.
The BlueCloud Clan is almost 800km away from here toward the east within the endless mountain.
The north belong to the DemonCloud Clan and they control the biggest territory also the most powerful force in this entire endless mountain.
To the west belong to 2 righteous clan called StarryCloud and SealingCloud Clan. These two clan control area similar in size with BlueCloud Clan. They're also dozen other small clan within this endless mountain with vary in strength but they usually lay low worried that they'll attracting the giant clan.
The south of endless mountain is abandon with the thin energy flow and lack of resources. All the big and small force busy competing among themselves and no one willing to take care the mortal in the endless mountain causing the high death rate within the mortal that live in a village like DragonFort village. They only focus on controlling bigger city and rich resources area.
As for how powerful these clan are and who are they, it's outside the chief knowledge. He didn't even know the name of the town lord 100km from this village. It's been 30 years since he's last been there and now he's too poor to go there.
"I see.. so the cultivator didn't even bother coming here, that's why I was chased by a monster as soon I come here."
"thank you for sharing this information to me." Lucis look at the elder that still standing nervously didn't even dare looking at Lucia eyes longer than a few seconds.
"it's my honor for being assistance for an immortal like you." the elder bow respectfully at Lucis.
"elder, please be more at ease at me. You don't have to be so formal with me. I have to ask the elder permission to allow me to live here for the time being. I'm still recuperating with my injury."
"it is our honor to have sir as our guest, please allow me to invite sir to my house. It's more comfortable." the elder hesitate a bit and look at Lucis eyes. The truth is he wants to chase Lucis away.
Lucis raised his hand gesturing him to stop. "it's okay, just call me by my name and forget about formalities. This place will do. I can rest here comfortably." Lucis smile at the elder
"this.. " the elder feeling a bit complicated and guilty looking at Lucis. After some hesitation: "alright.. but please don't hesitate if you have anything you need. I will do my best to fulfill any request from you."
Lucis look at the elder with a small smile. It's hard to change the way the elder look at cultivator, he need more time before they can speak comfortably.
Lucis took out a gold coin from his jacket and put it on the elder hand. "I have to bother Elder Dun a few day for food. I need to stay inside here a couple day before I can move freely."
"this.. you don't have too. It's my honor.." before the elder finish speaking, Lucis gestured him to stop. A gold coin a lot for the elder, it could support couple of family within this village for a month.
"I can see that live in this village is hard, consider the rest as a gift for accepting me in this village."
The elder hesitated for a long time before he finally force himself to accept the gold coin. Even in his day as caravan merchant, a gold coin is hard to come by. What he didn't know is, gold is cheaper for cultivator like Lucis. Lucis trade using magic stone and one magic stone cost 100 gold coin during his stay at NorseThunder clan. Except for forging equipment, gold basically useless to cultivator.
