4 Chapter Four

October year 1918

Ruby pov.

Running through the woods. Feeling my adrenaline filling my body as the wind blows my hair behind me. Seeing my food eating grass I stop and hide behind a tree. Quietly observing it's next move. Moving towards it cautiously, not making any noise, as soon as I'm close enough I pounce on the animal. Feeling it's blood flowing down my throat. Happy that my thirst is satisfied, I make my way back home. As I'm walking back home I feel eyes on me. I looked around to make sure that it was only me still. I saw nobody as I continued to look and then I heard a snapping sound. I turned towards the sound again seeing nobody.

I began walking, still feeling eyes on me, so I ran back home as fast as I could. As I got the key out of my back packet and opened the door I heard laughing. When I turned towards the living room I saw a caramel haired woman with a sandy red haired boy who seemed to be at least my age. As I walked in the living room Lucian looked at me.

"Oh.. there she is." he said standing up to walk towards me. As he did so the two new people looked at me. I looked at Lucian and asked.

"Who are these people?" not trying to be rude i smiled at them while i asked.

"They are the people I was talking about last month, do you remember? He said

I looked back towards the two and remembered what we discussed last month, me wanting to meet them. Smiling at them I spoke.

"So you must be Janet and Adam?" i asked

The first one to speak was the one I assumed to be Janet. She was a beautiful woman as her hair fell perfectly down her back and her smile. I bet every man fell for her. She was a breathtaking woman.

"Yes and you must be Ruby?" she asked back. I nodded my head. I looked at adam and he seemed to be laughing at something. I'm wondering what he was laughing at.

"You said she has a beautiful smile." he said

"How did you......what you can read my mind can you?" i asked

He only nodded

'I can already tell you're going to be a problem' I thought while still looking at him. He only shakes his head laughing

``We'll see about that,' he thought. If only he knew i could read his mind also but we'll leave that for another time. I sat down on the couch with Adam and we all began to talk. As we were talking I looked over at Lucian and saw how he's looking at Janet. the way his eyes sparkle a little bit as she talks about her life before she had lung fever and everything. I also learned that Adam was sick with the Spanish flu. As I learned their stories I began to think how bad it was for them and Lucian even asked for their consent before biting them. I'm happy he did it.

"Have you guys hunted yet?" i asked

"No but we can now if you guys want to?" Lucian asked

"That would be great actually." Janet said looking at Carlisle

I looked at Adam and he nodded also. We began to walk out the door and ran to the forest to hunt. Since I've already hunted I went with Adam. Janet and Lucian went in a different direction.

"So how old are you?" I asked Adam while we were looking for his dinner.

"I'm 17 years old..... How old are you? He asked back

I laughed at him. He only looked at me like I was crazy. Calming down my laughter I said to him.

"You know you should never ask a woman how old she is." he looked at me with apologetic eyes. I saw it and spoke up before he said anything.

" I was 17 when I was changed but in human years I'm 18." I said to him, He then looked at me with soft eyes.

"So you're the same age as me?" he ask

"I guess you can say that." I said to him, We heard a crack sound and we became quiet. We spotted a small deer walking around and I looked at Adam and nodded my head at him.

"Go for it." i whispered to him

As Adam was going to feed , my vision started to become blurry. I began seeing things.

In the vision

" Well it seems we finally found you Ruby." someone said. How does this person know my name?

"Let's not waste our time with this peasant and kill her already please" someone else said. Wait what is happening here, why am I seeing things?

Adam pov.

"Go for it." Ruby whispered to me. I nodded and attacked the small deer. The animal blood goes down my throat, some coming out of my mouth as I feed off the deer. As i'm almost done I looked to see where Ruby had gone. When I was finished I looked to see she was still in the same place we were hiding at. As I walk towards her she seems out of it. Shake her shoulder to see if I can get her attention.

" Ruby"

"....."

"Ruby"

"....." i began to panic because she's not answering me. I looked around and didn't see Lucian or Janet anywhere. I looked back at Ruby, I looked closer and I saw that her eyes are staring at something, like she's not in this world. I saw a tear slowly go down her face. What's going on? I began shaking her again.

"Ruby, come on, you're scaring me now."

Ruby Pov

"Seems like you've been hiding someone isn't that right......Lucian" the first person asked. Wait he has Lucian. I looked around and spotted Lucian on his knees looking at the men in front of him. Lucian didn't say anything and the man was not pleased.

" oh.... Have nothing to say?" he asked

I couldn't speak, it seemed as if someone was keeping my mouth closed. I'm screaming, begging them to let him go. I heard screams to my right. I turned my head and saw Janet andAdam on the floor in pain. Their screams were so horrid I couldn't help the unshed tears from falling on my face.please stop. Please stop.

End of vision

"PLEASE STOP" I yelled. I was too busy trying to shake what was going on to even realize Edward calling my name.

"...by"

"Ru..."

What was that vision? I don't know but I have to get away from them if that's going to happen to them. I don't want that to happen. What should I do? What should I do? I was so in thought I forgot a certain person can read my mind.

"Ruby" I begin to hear my name being called. My vision was still a little bit blurry trying to figure out who was calling me.

"Ruby, are you alright?" It was Adam talking, so he was calling my name. I shook my head a little and looked at him. Putting on a trembling smile.

"Yeah......yeah i'm alright." I said to him, still a little shaken up. He looked at me, not convinced I was okay so I began walking back home. This same feeling from earlier came back, someone is watching me. I have to hurry and leave.

"Ruby, what was that back there?" Adam asked me while walking behind me. I ignored him walking faster, almost running to the house.

"Ruby listen to me" he grabbed my shoulder and turned me around

" I CAN'T TELL YOU OK" I yelled at him, I didn't mean to but everything in that vision was so scary I just can't tell him.

"What happened in that vision that you can't tell me?" he asked, i looked at him on the edge of shedding tears again.

"I.....I....I can't tell you it would be better that way please" I looked at him " please don't let me relive it". He looked at me and just nodded his head

"Ok but you have to tell me later" he said to me, but i can't promise that. I could only nod at him hoping he would take this as an answer. Thankfully he did and we made our way back home. When we entered we saw Janet and Lucian talking. They stopped talking when they saw us and Lucian asked as he got up.

"Where have you guys been we've been waiting for 30 minutes for you guys to come back"

I looked at Adam at the same time he looked at me. I quickly turned my head towards Lucian.

"Oh we were just getting to know each other and forgot the track of time….. ain't that right Adam? I asked Adam, turning my head to him with a fake smile. He looked at me with his eyes saying something that I can't understand, but he nodded.

"Yeah, we lost track of time" I looked back at Lucian. He looked unsure but before he could say anything I pulled him to the side to talk to him.

"I need to leave" i said getting straight to the point

"What?..... why do you have to leave?" he asked. When he did the vision came back in my head. I didn't know I was so out of it that when Lucian touched me, I jumped back away from his hands.

"This......This is why I need to leave. I've been here with you in this house and my mind is going crazy" i began making anything up so I could save them.

"I don't understand what I did wrong?" he asked, and it's taking all of me to not pull him into a hug and to say I'm sorry. He's been nothing but great to me. He's like a big brother I wish I had and it's hard for me to do this. So there's only one way to end this and it's going to break my heart but I have to. I looked at him to see he was about to cry. Now I know he feels the same way we have a brother-sister bond that no one can break. I'm sorry Lucian. I hope you forgive me for what I'm about to say.

"THIS YOU MADE ME INTO THIS...THIS VAMPIRE SHIT I NEVER WANTED THIS I WANTED TO GROW OLD WITH THE MAN I WANTED TO MARRIED ON MY OWN TERMS IN THE FUTURE BUT I GET TURNED INTO THIS.......THIS MONSTER" I yelled when i was done my vision was slightly blurry because of the tears in my eyes. I looked at Lucian and my heart broke even more. His eyes were saying a lot of things but the one that stuck out was sadness. He looked at me with sad eyes, he looked down

"Please say this is a joke" he spoke quietly

I said nothing, afraid that my voice would break if i speak so i turned around and began to go to the room to pack what little things i got over the months i've been here. I walked to the door and put my hand on the knob. I hesitated. I looked behind me and saw Lucian standing there looking at me with those eyes again. I forgot in the middle of our 'talk' that Janet and Adam were here. I looked at them and said one thing before I left.

"Take care of yourself" I said with a trembling smile. My voice cracked a little bit.

“Do you really have to leave Ruby?” Adam asked me, walking towards me. I only looked at him and I opened the door and closed it shut. On the way out I began crying as I just lost someone dear to me but most of all................

I lost my family.
