5 Chapter Five

Ruby pov.

Looking up in the dark sky as the stars twinkle with the moon perfectly is beautiful. I've never been at peace for so long. Being on my own for 90 year on the run away and from my family for so long. It's heartbreaking, but I'll see them one day. I wonder what they're upto even though I didn't know Adam and Janet that long. I learned a lot about them and they became family to me. Looking up to the moon glow even brighter has a tear come down my eye just by remembering why I had to leave them.

"So are you going to help or not Ruby?" someone asked behind me. I could only laugh at the person.

"Yes Travis I'm coming" i said while still laughing

"What are you laughing at? Did I say something funny?" he looked at me confused. That made me laugh harder.

"No. not. At. all." i said in between laughter

"Come on then and help me over here then"

"Alright, alright" I said, my laughing slowly stopping. Going up to him I picked up some wood to take in the house, placing them beside the furnace. The living room had polished wood as walls and also on the floor. There was a tv hanging on the wall above the furnace. There was a black leather couch in front of the furnace and tv. After I put the wood by the furnace I turned to Travis.

“Is there anything else you need me to do?" i asked travis

"No that all" he said

"Hey where is your mate?" I ask him sitting down on the couch.

"Oh she's in the kitchen getting dinner ready" he told me

"Alright I'm going to see if she needs any help" I said getting up off the couch toward the kitchen. In the kitchen area it has a counter that you can sit at. There was a woman that was 5’3 with long wavy brown hair. Her brown skin glows when the moon lights through the window that’s beside her.

As I enter the kitchen I see her chopping up some deer meat.

"Hey ms.brenda do you need any help?" I ask while sitting on one of the stools.

"No, I don't need any help" she said while laughing a bit. " And what did I tell you, you don't have to call me ms. Brenda, you can call me bre. Lord knows you're older than me. She said

"Sorry Ms.br- I mean bre" I said correcting myself

"That's ok while I finish cooking, go wash up" she told me while putting the meat in a pot. I nodded my head and got up off the stool and walked down the hall to the shared bathroom we have here.

I walked in the bathroom that looks exactly like the whole house with an oval tub and looked in the mirror and touched my face; it didn't change over the years I've been alive. Figures since I'm a vampire. Sighing I turned on the water to wash my face as I splash water on my face. I sense someone was watching me. I haven't had that feeling in 4 years, well that was before I met Travis and his mate.

4 years ago

I have been walking in the dark forest for 5 hours now. I'm not tired, I'm just hungry. I look around trying to listen for something to eat.

Crack

I turned my head to the sound running towards it. I stopped listening to it again.

Swish

I heard something move to my right side. Slowly and quietly I walked towards the sound. I saw a small rabbit not going to fill me up, but at least it will get me through the night. I picked up the rabbit before it could run off and sink my teeth into it. The blood wasn't as tasteful like the other bigger animals I survive on but it will do. I was so deep into the forest I didn't know I was trespassing on land owned by wolves. I heard a growling noise somewhere near a bush. I looked towards it closely and saw bloody red eyes. I heard a growl again now I know what it was. It's a wolf, slowly backing away from where it was, the wolf slowly walked out looking at me as his prey. His black fur was silk and he was huge might be an alpha

'What are you doing here leach?'

I can read his mind . I didn't know I could do this while he was in his wolf form.

"I didn't know i went this far in the forest" i said calmly to him

'Lies state your business now' he snarled at me. I continued to back away from him

"As i said i didn't know i was this far" trying to keep my voice calm so i won't be in danger.

'And why should I believe you?'

" I mean you no harm at all i was just hungry" i guess i said the wrong thing cause next thing i know he pounced on me. Even my strength is not strong enough to push him off. He bared his teeth and growled in my face. I guess this is where I die. Not knowing how Carlisle is doing, is he alive still? I closed my eyes and got ready to be killed.

'Stop morpheus' someone said to my right. That's when I saw another wolf. Oh great another supernatural being is going to kill me.

'And why should i?' he said to the wolf to my right

'Because she's with me, so let her go'

'I don't think i will'

'And why is that?'

'She came on my property so you guess why im not letting this leach go'

'Morpheus just let her go and we will leave'

'Something telling me to not believe you but, Ok but don't let her back on my property Travis' so the wolf that saved me name is Travis. The wolf Morpheus moved off me still looking at me with its predator's eyes. I got up from the ground, dusty my pants off and looked to my right to see the wolf turned back to his 'human' form. Looking at him i spoke,

"Thank you" i told him

"No need to thank me some wolves seem to not like your kind," he told me. I looked at him and asked.

"Are you one of them?"

"Oh no actually I was saved by one a year ago, but that's another story" he laughed a bit, scratching the back of his neck. I began to look at him more and he seemed to be 6'3 or 6'4 man with russen skin. He's tall. I'm only 5'2 wow the height difference is uncanny. He walked towards me and held out his hands.

"As you may have heard, my name is Travis," he said to me, his voice deep and smooth almost like velvet. I shook his hands and said'

""Ruby, nice to meet you."

"And the wolf behind you is my little brother Morpheus." I turned back to see that the so-called Morpheus had also turned back in his 'human' form. He seems to be 5’10 with short black hair. He's a little darker than his brother. He snarled at me

"Don't be telling this leach my name" he said now staring at Travis.

Travis only laughs at his brother.

"Believe it or not I'm the oldest of three kids. I have another brother named Simon. My last name is River. He doesn't like your kind either."

"Well thanks for the information" I told him. He all but nodded

"What are you doing here anyway?" he asked me

"Well I was hungry so I fed off a rabbit and tried to find some shelter. it seems it's going to rain" i said looking up at the night sky now.

"Well I don't live too far. Would you like to stay for a while?" he asked

"I don't know, how can I trust you?" i asked back

"Well i did just save you from my brother who was ready to kill you at any giving moment." he said

"Point taking" i said "ok then"

"Alright this way than" he said to me

End of flashback

I can't believe it's been 4 years since I've been with them. His mate welcomed me with open arms even though she knew what I was. I never thought I would have another family, but it can never be like MY family.

"RUBY FOOD IS READY" I heard bre yelled. Yes they know I don't eat food so they stored blood for me. Which I really appreciate, they are very mindful. I walked into the kitchen and sat down in a seat in front of Travis and bre.

"Thank you" i said to them both

"Oh you know it's no problem at all." bre said to me

"Yeah we're family here." travis said. I looked at him and smiled. After we was done eating i helped wash the dishes which bre kept trying to kick me out. Having no attempts at all she let me help. When we were done I went into the room I have been staying in. There was a twin size bed in the corner and a desk by the window. There's a stand next to the bed with a small lap on it. Unlike the other rooms this one had carpet in it. I know I don't sleep so I just look out the window until it gets a little light then close it. Unfortunately my night was not the same as always. Something felt off like 90 years ago. I feel as I did when I had that vision. I couldn't stop it.......

In the vision

"HELP.. PLEASE HELP"

'What was that? Who was calling for help?

PLEASE SOMEONE PLEASE HELP-HE-H"

What happened, why do I hear this? I looked around i'm in darkness. Running i can't seem to find an exit

"well......well .....well" it’s that same voice, i remember it clearly

"What do you want?" i asked

"Oh she speaks" the other voice i remember as well said

"Well sweet Ruby time can only tell can it?" the first voice asked

"As we’ll waste our time on someone as worthless as you" the second voice said. I know he is lying. They need me for something but they are not going to tell me.

"Who are you" i asked looking around the darkness my head spinning a little more

"There's the right question.....the names Vance dear and we will meet for you are the key.

"The key to what?" i asked the first voice i now know was Vance

"You don't need to worry about that peasant."

"Calm down Nicholas we need her alive right?

"Yes we do"

"Well see you later sweet Ruby"

Before I asked another question they were gone. I looked ahead and saw light. I began to run to it when I came to the light and the sight left me breathless. I saw Travis holding Bre in his arms crying. Rocking back and forth, but as he heard me walking towards him he turned into his wolf form. Stalking towards me with murder written in his eyes.

'YOU DID THIS.......YOU CAUSE MY MATE TO DIE' he yelled at me.

"I didn't do anything"

“YES YOU DID THEY CAME LOOKING FOR YOU AND NOW-" he looked behind him. "My mate is gone" he looked at me again.

"Who was looking for me?" i asked him

"THE TOMB DESCENDANT AND NOW YOU MUST PAY" he yelled at me and he pounced on me. Tearing me limb from limb.

End of vision

I was sweating when I came to. Why does this feel bad? I looked around and I'm still in the room.

'I must go before they end up like what i saw in my vision'

I began packing quietly so they wouldn't hear me, man I hope they don't hear me. I looked for a pen and paper, I found them on the desk in the room where I began to write.

I will be gone for a while, don't come looking for me, I just want to keep you guys safe that’s all. I am grateful for you guys letting me stay with you guys but it's time for me to find my family. I need to fix this i will visit when i can

I opened the window and climbed out of it. I turned to close it but stopped. Looking at this place that I've stayed for 4 years is now going to be behind me. I'm sorry guys but I have to keep you safe. I closed the window and began my journey to find my brother.....
