Side Story: Path of Sorrows (Part One)

There were red clouds in the sky, the air reeked of fresh blood, the ground was riddled of hundreds of thousands of dismembered corpses. There was a single person that stood there all alone, that person wore armor a general would normally wear, but the armor was dented and slashed all the way until it was barely left with slices of metal. He was riddled with cuts and wounds all over his body. He was barely standing with his shaking legs but in his hand was a sword that he was supporting on, it was dark and slim that also carried a mysterious aura.

The man had a self-ridiculing smile on his face and gently laughed.

"I guess I won't be seeing you again, Nicole." In his mind, a faint image of a woman appeared, his self-ridiculing smile subconsciously turned into gentle one, the one that you would show to your lover.

But as he was having his sweet moment, the sword in his hand let out a small cry like a baby wanting milk.

"Yeah, yeah, I got it." The man responded a little irritated, the sword ruined his lovely moment. The man let out all of his qi into the sword, his qi was extraordinary, it was amazingly strong and had an ancient aura, the color was black with mysterious colors flashing in and out, just like An Cheng's.

"This is the last I can do for you, the rest you can do on your own." The man said gently.

The sword happily accepted but was a little saddened that its owner was to be no more, but it had to keep going, it had seen too many owners pass away. His qi kept flowing into the sword, he even used all of his remaining lifeforces to produce more qi. As the last bits of qi flowed the man seemed to age rapidly until he was just a weak old man with no cultivation.

He returned back to his sweet moment as his eyes grew dim and his life extinguished. The sword waited until he died until it released a massive ancient aura, a lot like the man's, and a sword cry rang throughout the air. As the cry rang, blue spirits came out of the bodies, the spirits were thick in qi and were massive, a spirit came out of each and every one of the corpses, except that man's. That was quite a scene to see, the sky turned dark blue and the sun was blocked out. All of the spirits started to rush towards the sword at a breakneck speed.

The sword happily accepted all of the spirits and devoured them. The sword got blacker and blacker, and the colors got brighter and brighter as each spirit got devoured. That sword may need a massive amount of spirits to get stronger but this was a battlefield of gods after all.

After the sword absorbed all of the spirits it rose into the air and stood there for a second, seeming to be remembering something. After it got back to its senses it flew towards the east, it was time to look for the next owner, and time to repeat the cycle.

This side story also has multiple parts. Spread out throughout the story, the upload would be around the time of An Chengs side story.
