A desire for the power to live forever would be a foolish option. To begin with, it was never a good idea to wish such mystical and unachievable ability, regrettable as well as creating a devastating result. Perhaps one is fated to change the future of those cherished, but never the past and himself. A boy was chosen by fate to achieve everlasting suffering, the ability to remain alive no matter how much he tries, set on a journey to find what caused this crisis to happen to him, forced to face the calamity ahead of him to continue one's legacy.
"Ah, another sunday morning. Boring as usual, there's nothing to do other than sleeping and eating. Maybe I'll do some exploration outside the city outskirts later."
"Hello, I'm Obirus Murakame. Obi or Ob for short, an alias usually used by people I knew or acquaintances."
Seyra: "Going off to the outskirts again? Well, come back anytime you want! Just enjoy your exploration."
Obirus: "Still as carefree as ever, mom? Aren't you atleast a little worried..? I'll probably have someone come with me."
Seyra: "As long as you're coming back safely, then I don't think there's anymore reason for me to be worried about."
Obirus then grabbed his jacket on wearing it, proceeding to walk outside of the door going to his close friend's house.
Seyra: "Take care! Remember to find shelter when its getting darker!"
Obirus arrived at his friend's house and clicked the doorbell.
"Ah! As expected. You would come here again this sunday. Another round for a walk overnight?"
Madoe: "Man, I shouldn't have left the tent last night in our grandparents' house before we left Zoiros City."
Obirus: "As usual, we will just find shelters when its about the time of sunset."
Madoe: "Aren't you tired of the mosquitos flying free around us every time we rest under a tree or enter a cave?"
Obirus: "That doesn't matter, we've explored not even half of the outskirts yet. We should move now."
Madoe: "Fine, if you insist."
Both friends stopped by the shop they usually buy things from as regulars to know what part of the outskirt they are about to explore next.
Mr. Ernest: "Yo! What does the regulars want from us this time?"
Obirus: "Nothing special."
Obirus kept silence for a few seconds before talking again, looking at the made map of him.
Obirus: "Well uh do you know anything abo-"
Mr. Ernest: "Aww, don't you want to buy the portable umbrellas you regularly order? How about you Madoe, we got the latest Cyber Robot Model Pentad! The joints got the shape of a pentagon, the perfect collectible for your collection! Don't you guys think? Obirus? Madoe?
Madoe: "You have to calm down... You see, weren't here to buy things and its probably obvious. (And I'm pretty much broke by the way.)"
Obirus: "Mado, do you have the old outskirt ripped off map we found the last time we explored after sitting under a tree for an hour when you got greeted by mosquitos?"
Madoe: "That was unnecessary but here."
Obirus: "Mr. Ernest, are you familiar with this part of the map of the outskirt? I don't know if the map is still accurate since it was old and it was ripped off when we found this. We don't know where the other missing parts are but we less likely will find it anyway."
Obirus pointed at the North-East part of the map where there was a circle shaped mark.
Mr. Ernest then stayed silent for good seconds before talking again.
Mr. Ernest: "I know nothing particular about that part of the map, has it been there since before? Well even so, it remains unknown. But rumors has it that there was a cave around that area, people who came back outside was frightened. The day after supernatural things happened to them, is unbelievable. They disappeared 6:00 AM in the morning without a trace. Detectives we're sent to the missing peoples' houses to investigate, nothing helped them take a step forward. However that's about it, those are only rumors so don't let it bother you.
Madoe: "Wow that was, surprising. Just the information we need from the eavesdropper."
Mr: Ernest: "Did you say something?"
Obirus: "Never mind that, lets proceed to hear more informations from the other people."
Obirus and Madoe entered other public buildings to check with the other people they knew and met somewhere for informations before exploring the outskirt. Unfortunately, they never heard anything else other than Mr. Ernest's information about the spreading rumor.
Madoe: "No good! There aren't anything else. But at the very, least Mr. Ernest was helpful for once."
Obirus: "In that case, we are going to continue going outskirts. I'm afraid that you're right about us having another round of overnight exploration."
Madoe: "Alright, let's go. I just hope that mosquitos won't ever bother me in my sleep, I absolutely hate them!"
Obirus And Madoe finally begun their walk outskirts. After atleast a kilometer of walk without stopping, they are finally near the destination they need to reach and are within the area they need to search.
Obirus: "Oh man this is rough."
Madoe: "I am so tired!!! Why didn't we buy atleast a bottle of water?"
Obirus: "Because I thought I drank enough to stay hydrated, you can't blame me."
Madoe: "That's not how the world works, Obi."
Obirus: "So now, the cave from the rumor we heard is most likely around this area, let's search."
Madoe: "This is the forest outskirt now, we've never gone this far before."
Obirus: "We can't help it, we're already here and there's no turning back."
Madoe: "But first, do we have what it takes to survive without drinking water for 24 hours?"
Obirus tried to look for a shelter while Madoe gathered resources for the night. They agreed on a meet up location where they can find each other easily as it's getting darker. The sun is setting.
Madoe: "And those... Are about it."
Madoe put down the woods and sticks he gathered varrying in sizes and also a few rocks.
Obirus: "So, I finally found the cave we're about to investigate. Might be a little stubborn for us to enter without experts but we can't help it. I entered inside the cave to check whatever's in there, its too dark without a torch or any light sources. Its pretty wide in there and the temperature is low. So I decided that we should check around the inside while resting."
Madoe: "Are you sure about this? What if something unusual happens? I'm actually getting shivers from this."
Obirus: "Oh and while I was at it, I also found a river nearby so I filled this bottle whole! Now we won't die."
Madoe: "Will we not get dehydrated first before dying? Oh and where did you even get a bottle?"
Obirus: "Shall we get in first?"
Obirus first entered the cave with the wood they lighted up with rocks to serve them as torches, followed by Madoe.
Madoe: "Its too cold... Lets make a campfire so we can heat ourselves up."
"Something's off... The atmosphere has been bothering me since I found this cave, the rumors are more likely true, but we'll just see it with our own eyes." Obirus sat on the ground watching Madoe create heat and light while thinking about their next objective. He hesitated to check most of the insides first but he's worried the cave might be wider in space than what he's expecting.
Obirus: "W-well how about we sit here and rest for now? We'll continue the investigation later when I'm ready"
Madoe: "I am not ready yet can't you see? I'll probably run first and just leave you here stuck inside when something out of reality happens."
Obirus: "I hope that wouldn't occur."
"Something really is bothering me, and I'm sure Mado does feel it too. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to enter this cave afterall." Obirus started trembling after taking shelter inside for minutes.
Obirus: "Well! Atleast for now, lets focus on resting. Then we'll start walking around the cave."
Madoe: "Alright then."
Madoe and Obirus talked for a few minutes with different topics, staring at the fire source they just made.
Obirus: "Alright I guess we should continue. Just tell me if you found something amazing or strange."
Mado: "I'll inform you whenever I do."
Obirus and Madoe both walked around the cave, it was too dark to see the corners and the wall. The space inside is too large.
Later after searching for awhile, he felt like he finally reached one of the corners of the cave. He grabbed his torch and gave light whatever's infront of him.
He did find the corner, alongside something strange however.
Obirus: "These are..?"
When Obirus was about to called Madoe, he accidentaly dropped the torch and the light was put out. He panicked and called out Madoe for help immediately to give light.
Madoe: "Jeez what are you doing, dropping your torch like that. But atleast we are back here at the campfire."
Madoe: "... So, regarding of what you just saw earlier."
Obirus: "Yeah, I was about to tell it to you now. That was one of the corners of the cave. I don't remember which directions I just took. But more importantly... That wasn't just a corner. Most likely what I saw were stone carvings. But what for?"
Madoe: "Perhaps it could be the carvings of the first people who came in here. Or it reflects a message for something. Maybe we should just go out for now. Remember the rumors? People just vanishes out of nowhere, no trace at all."
Obirus: "Yeah you're right. Let's go, we'll just continue all these next time."
"Something is definitely off. Stone carvings? But carvings like those aren't normal. They don't seem normal at all. They aren't messages, they are symbols."
