8 Girlfriend

"Well I do have a few in fact. First, I need to close the deals for books with the publishers, have a news conference to publicize etc. Second, will be buying some businesses around here. The assigned to me is to create a business group. Teacher and her last generation students will help.

I might get involved with the film industry as a Scriptwriter. Produce some Martial Arts related film to popularize Martial Arts. May play one of the lead roles as well. You might see my face in advertisements and newspapers . I will also need a cover job to hide." J B described his plans briefly.

Their dinner was almost as the end so they ordered dessert and continued the conversation.

J B said, "Then a couple of days later I have to go back to my hometown and meet my parents. They still think that I am living like a poor beggar. Moreover my mom is acting too desperate.

She not only wants me to get married she also wants to see the face of her 'grandson' soon. So she has been pestering her friends to arrange blind dates for me. I am not sure if she has told you about this."

He continued after a pause, "The ironic thing is, my mom has always liked you and has wanted to be her daughter-in-law but in her eyes now you are top University Student and I am a high school dropout with menial or no jobs. So she thinks we are not a good match and such a marriage even if it is possible will not be successful." He then looked at Wanrui and studied her reaction.

Wanrui said, "I did hear her a few times talk about arranging dates for you..."

"And do you know who are the girls?" J B asked.

"No"

"Hahaha. I know. There are two girls. One of them is a previous classmate of mine. She is already pregnant and wants someone to hide that fact. Its a sham marriage. The other one is no good either. Seeing that I have no job, they want to marry me, provide me with some decent home and money so that they are free to do whatever they want. Really shameless people."

He then continued, "Say cousin, do you really want me to go on dates with such people?"

Wanrui felt awkward because she was going to tell him about the date. She finally said, "Obviously not."

"So I have to go back and at least tell me that I am not a pathetic loser, that they think of me. I will at least tell them that I am an author. As for teacher's matter, can't tell them yet".

Shuyuan: "So you are serious about her?"

Jiang Bai, "Haven't I said it clearly? Of course I am. And this way I will be able to protect her too."

Shuyuan: "Ok, I approve. But you must not let get her hurt."

Jiang Bai couldn't even reply since Wanrui raised her voice "Shuyuan, what the hell are you saying? I don't like this hooligan at all."

Shuyuan: "Well if that's the case, then you don't mind me dating him? Big Cousin is Smart, handsome and rich. Plus he has a powerful background. Say Wanrui, if you are not interested, I am free to date him, right?"

Wanrui: "..."

He sighed and continued, "In any case, you don't need to worry about her. That gentle girl turned bad, started chasing after money and power and finally married Han Nui."

Wanrui: "Why do you know so much about her?"

Jiang Bai: "Well, like I said, I felt both grateful and guilty for her. There are a couple of few other people like her. I get a report once every 6 months. If they are in dire situation, they will be helped by teacher's network. So far we didn't need to help any of them."

Wanrui: "Ok I believe you."

Jiang Bai then asked confidently, "Then will you be my girlfriend?"

Wanrui: "That..."

Shuyuan interjected, "Hey Big Cousin! Don't pressure her suddenly. Like you yourself said earlier. Start slowly. Go on a couple of dates a week. Let nature take it's course."

Jiang Bai: "I didn't mean to pressure her. Just wanted to tease and observe her reaction. I hope dinner was satisfactory. We should go back now."

He then paid the bill. Xu Jie was waiting for them at the parking lot. He then dropped them off at the Tiandu University.

Jiang Bai: "You have been waiting here the whole time. You didn't have dinner right, Xu Jie?"

Xu Jie: "Its fine, I can eat later."

Jiang Bai: "I knew you wouldn't have eaten so I asked them to pack a few things for you. Its in the bag. You can have it after dropping me off. By the way when is meeting set?"

Xu Jie: "As you requested, its scheduled a bit early at 9AM"

Jiang Bai, "Then pick me up at 8AM. It shouldn't take more travel time that, would it?"

Xu Jie: "Na, its fine. We might even get there a few minutes early."

Jiang Bai then reached his apartment and went straight to bed.
