77 Wuying's Salvation

As Wuying saw Yun finish her opponent he knew that he was the only one left with any energy. He began to fight with abandon, hoping to overwhelm the young Royal Guard and defeat it.

Back and forth, they fought and fought. Moments turned into minutes, and before anyone knew it they had been battling for nearly two incense sticks of time. At this point the Volvaka Royal Guard began pressing Wuying backward. Step by step he was forced back towards the incapacitated Yun, who didn't appear to be capable of moving. The enemy wanted to take Yun's head while she was unable to resist, preventing her from recovering enough to turn the tables!

Wuying continued to lose ground, unable to stop being driven back by the vicious mace the Royal Guard wielded against him, until he was nearly on top of Yun. Seeing her so close, and unable to respond, Wuying raged at himself and burned a wisp of blood essence.

Bang!

With his desperate strength he smashed a fist into the mace, sending it flying back towards the Royal Guard's face, but also coughed out a bit of blood from his internal wounds. Burning blood essence could afford him a burst of strength, but it would also make his internal injuries worse as he over-taxed his system.

Smash after smash Wuying spat out a small amount of blood, but also drove the Royal Guard back and gave him new injuries. Finally, with a little space between them, Wuying began fighting defensively again, being pushed back towards Yun as he had come up with a plan.

Yet again, blow by blow, he stepped backwards, absorbing the impact with motion and his gauntlets. As he got close to Yun he reached out with one hand, grasped the mace as it impacted his arm, and then took his other hand and reached out to touch Yun's spatial storage artifact.

Instantly he pulled out two short Volvaka spears from her storage and began to aggressively assault the Royal Guard with rapid stabs, driving him back out of reach.

Step. Stab.

Step step. Stab Stab.

Step. Crash!

The Royal Guard, flurried from the sudden onslaught that was beyond his knowledge, stepped on a fallen spear shaft and slipped backwards, falling slowly as he tried to get his powerful tail under him to stop the fall.

Wuying's eyes lit up, and he leapt upwards. From above he came down heavily towards the Royal Guard's chest with both spears on either side, angling for his heart from two directions.

Puff puff!

The spears both penetrated, driven by Wuying's weight, and quickly broke through multiple organs, piercing the heart and coming out the Volvaka's back, pinning it to the stone it had fallen on. The Royal Guard weakly tried to raise it's mace one last time before it stopped moving entirely.

Thud!

Thud!

Thud!

The remaining heavily wounded warrior rushed at Wuying's back with a pike in hand, intending to impale him while he was distracted. Wuying looked over his shoulder before he turned around and swatted the pike head away with one gauntlet while pulling out his short sword and running it across the neck of the charging warrior as they went in different directions.

Crash!

Another Volvaka body heavily landed on the ground.

Looking around, the cavern was bloody. The stones beneath their feet had huge cracks and shattered rocks everywhere from the massive temperature flux that Yun had subjected them to.

At the far side of the cavern was the massive body of the Volvaka Queen, her eyes were enormous as she stared at these two young Lynhär in front of her.

All of her hive were dead.

Her enemies were recovering before her eyes.

Despair began to fill her face as she resigned herself to death. She was simply too unlucky.

As Wuying slowly walked towards her, consuming a healing pill, Yun raised her head and weakly called out to him, "Wu. . .ying. . . Wait. . ."

His ears twitched as he looked back at her, hurrying to her side to help support her as she tried to communicate.

After nearly ten minutes of difficulty they had finally communicated together, and Wuying knew what she had planned. He helped her eat a very mild healing medicine, unwilling to risk anything more potent due to her spiritual energy being so severely depleted that she may not be able to control the medicinal energy.

After another thirty minutes of waiting Yun had finally recovered enough to stand and begin moving. She slowly approached the immobile Queen, dragging her spear behind her.

Step after step her spear scraped the ground, emitting a screeching sound, while the Queen's eyes grew dull from fear and resignation.

"You foul creatures took my family from their home. Took my mother from us. And now you want to get closer to more of my people? More families to destroy, more mothers to kill slowly?"

Yun's voice came out low and hoarse, more like an animal growl than any sentient being's speech. Long Wuying felt a chill in the depths of his soul as his hackles raised themselves.

Yun's feet continued forwards, crossing the enormous cavern slowly, inexorably, as she growled curses at the Volvaka Queen in front of her, venting all her rage and anger and loneliness from her childhood and her heart on this great foe before her.

As she came within reach of the Queen Yun stopped and looked up at her, snarling, as she began to move her hands on her spear into a position where she could use it, then finally plunged the spear deep into the Queen's flesh, even Yun's hand was buried inside with the full length of her spear, and only just the tip of the spear protruded from the back. Retracting her bloodied arm halfway, Yun twisted the spear, shredding internal organs and eliciting a shrill screech from the Volvaka Queen as it felt the bells of fate ring from within.

Yun's ears bled.

Wuying covered his ears with both hands, trying to block out this bloody screech that rent the soul.

The screech faded slowly, as the lifeblood of the Volvaka Queen flowed down Yun's spear shaft, but never quite reached her hand.

The deep grooves of the spear shaft seemed to absorb all of the Queen's heart-blood as it flowed down, and the strands of Immortal Wyrm hide turned a deep bloody crimson, almost glowing with it, as the blood disappeared.
