76 The Potential of a Genius

As Yun began to exercise her newly comprehended skill she began to realize just how taxing this ability was. To control energy on such a tiny level was astoundingly difficult for her mind. As she forced herself to continue she could feel her spiritual energy draining rapidly, but she could also feel the energy draining from the opposing Volvaka as well.

As cold-blooded lizards they needed a warm environment to stay active, and she had just dropped their ambient temperature from that of a volcanic cavern to the harshest of arctic wastes. Their bodily functions were quickly shutting down, they were expending their Qi to try and preserve function, but they were unable to endure for more than a few seconds as the heat of their bodies rapidly dissipated, their blood slowing to a stop as their flesh began to freeze rapidly. They tried to attack her again, but they were unable to get past her Argent Spears, which had their own intelligence.

As Wuying noticed how Yun's attention was entirely on her technique he realized that he needed to take action before she was unable to continue. He quickly drew his short sword and used his movement technique to start slaying the Volvaka around him. Each movement ended in a stab through the heart, then a twist of the blade before removing it, destroying their lives completely.

Swiftly the four surrounding Long Wuying were completely dead, and he rushed towards Yun's side to slay her opponents as well. He began with the nearest as he passed, stabbing one of the warriors in the heart and killing it, then moved on to the next closest, one of the Royal Guards. His blade struggled to penetrate this one's dense bones to reach it's heart, but eventually he felt his blade slide through the tough muscular organ and he shredded it before withdrawing his blade.

Stepping forwards rapidly, he once again inserted his blade into the heart of the next Royal Guard, slowly killing it as well.

Yun's head was pounding at this point, her spiritual energy was on the verge of collapse from the task of maintaining such an incredible level of control. She let out a gasp as she released the skill, unwilling to risk further harm to her spirit, and shouted weakly, "Wuying, hurry!"

Long Wuying looked over his shoulder for a short moment as he slayed his second Royal Guard to see Yun collapse to her knees panting and knew the skill she had used was over. The temperature in the area began to rapidly rise again, and stones that were covered in frost began to crack and break due to the massive rise in temperature they were experiencing. The remaining Royal Guard and Warrior in front of them began to move again, nourishing their muscles and blood with their fiery Qi to protect them from the shock of temperature that was coming. Their scales began to crack, tiny rivulets of blood began to flow from all over their bodies, dripping slowly to the cavern floor where it began to evaporate.

As Wuying stepped forwards to try and stab the third Royal Guard it managed to regain some mobility and smashed his stab aside with its own weapon!

Yun gasped again, trying to stand, and even her two Argent Spears were barely able to move after they contributed some of their spirit back to her in order to help her function. Her fire spear swiftly faded as the spirit retreated to her mind to help restore her spiritual sea, while the other spear bobbed in front of her to protect her as long as it could.

Wuying and the Royal Guard began a bitter battle, both injured, and the royal guard losing blood slowly from all over its body. They were evenly matched, and neither could seem to harm the other in the slightest for now. Seeing this, the final guard stepped around their battle to attack Yun with the remaining Warrior stepping back to keep Wuying from breaking out of his fight to attack the queen.

This Royal Guard had stood a good distance away, avoiding the battle and Yun's domain skill. It calmly walked towards her, raising its weapon to the sky in a bid to behead her while she was struggling to move. Sensing this, Yun looked at her Argent spear and it understood her intent. The spear flew forth suddenly, using its lightning elemental energy to propel itself at an incredible speed, and smashed into the enemy weapon, sending it flying from the Royal Guard's hands from the incredible force of the collision.

Likewise, as a result of the collision, the physical body of the Argent Spear shook, becoming nearly transparent, as it expended nearly all the energy it had gathered to remove the weapon from the enemy's hands. Quickly it condensed the remaining energy into a smaller form, looking like a toy version of itself, and rushed back to Yun's spiritual sea to help with recovery.

Yun was grateful to her Argent Spears for their help, and she swore to herself to nourish them with more spiritual and elemental energy from now on, as she staggered to her feet in time to slash her weapon at the incoming enemy, who had resigned himself to using his powerful claws to destroy this obviously wounded foe before she could recover and threaten them all again.

They fought a bitter battle, Yun barely managing to keep the enemy at a distance without him grabbing her weapon and taking it from her. She had maintained enough strength that she could use her Brazen Moon Flame to protect the weapon from being grabbed, but the flame on the spear was barely more than a quarter of what it usually was, just a mere flicker of fire here and there like ghostly wisps.

Slash!

Bang!

They clashed many times, both of them beginning to struggle. The Volvaka Royal Guard was clashing with her Lightning energy with his bare claws, so every time they made contact he was infected with more and more malicious lightning that sought to take away his ability to move, while Yun was already physically injured before their face off and was struggling to continue fighting at all.

Slowly the Volvaka fighter began to lose the ability to move its arms, and suddenly, in a moment of power, Yun stepped in and put her whole body behind her spear, stabbing it through the Volvaka's chest, shattering ribs, and into its heart.

Yun collapsed to one knee at this time, nearly losing consciousness in the process, as she overdrew her body and mind to keep going in this fight. She would have to recover for quite a while before she would return to her previous power, but better hurt and alive than dead and buried.
