96 Facing True Danger

As all the doors began to crack slightly, Yun saw Wuying staggering at the door of the room they had been in. He was holding his head with one hand and didn't seem to know where he was going. As Wuying wobbled nearer to the remaining miasma in the main chamber his staggering began to lessen, but the spark in his eyes began to lessen as well!

Yun stepped back from the giant creature in the center of the room and deftly hit Wuying in the stomach with the butt of one of the Volvaka spears, sending him tumbling back into the room where the creature had drained all the miasma. As he landed with a light crash she heard a groan from him as well, indicating he was at least partially back in control of his mind. With a feeling of release Yun turned back to focus on the enemy before her. She could tell that it was enraged by the frantic sounds of doors being beaten open from the inside of the numerous rooms around her. Sometimes she felt there were more doors than she could see as well, bringing back that distorted feeling she had felt before.

Without a moment to lose, Yun slashed out again and again with her spear, trying to deal as much damage as she could. her Undaunted Crescent Moon Slash skill activated over and over, filling the air with myriad pale blue crescent moons slashing towards the beastly abomination. Watching in shock as the scene unfolded before her, the abominable creature didn't try to block any of her attacks, but instead avoided them completely! The moment she struck out it reached up and sunk a claw into the ceiling before lifting itself up and flattening itself against the roof like it was part of it!

Reacting a moment slower than she should have, Yun raised her spear up to block as the creature leapt from the roof just as the Crescent Moon swarm passed it by, it swung heavily at her and sent her careening back towards one of the nearly broken doors. Yun opened her eyes wide and struggled with her spear and the ground while she tried to regain her grip on the floor and stop sliding.

As she drew nearer and nearer to the door Yun began to understand she likely couldn't stop her momentum from dragging her backwards in time, so the only choice she had was to change her point of impact. With a push against the floor Yun raised her body up into the air and did a somersault, planting her feet against the solid wall more than a meter above the door. After absorbing her momentum with her legs she pushed off lightly, landing a meter in front of the door.

Crack!

Crack!!

Yun looked over her shoulder for an instant and saw what looked like a massive claw breaking through the door's thick stone in a slashing motion. The claw only pierced the door for an instant, but that instant was enough to tell Yun that the door would not last much more against such a large beast. Yun had a thought at that moment and decided to try something, though she was unsure of whether it would benefit her or not. Quickly she retrieved nearly all the spears she had collected from the Volvaka out of her spatial storage one by one. Each time she withdrew a spear she would stab it point-first into the rough stone.

Repeatedly evading the rampages of the beast, Yun occasionally sent a slash towards it to drive it back. She had established that her technique was extremely dangerous to the creature, and not she was going to test her theory. After nearly five minutes of dodging and moving Yun finally felt she was ready to try this.

There were two concentric layers of spears standing upright like an arena around them as Yun began to activate her Dragon Aura to the extreme. As the air dried out around them and the energy levels rose higher the sparks of lightning energy began to gather and jump around. As they did, they would occasionally near the rings of spears and leap to them. Each small spark did nothing, but as they gathered together they created a chain of energy between two spears.

Then another two.

And another.

Soon the two rings of spears were completely linked together, creating a pair of octagons around them. The lightning circulated in a circle around and around, trapped by the energy flow, and began to create a circular flow of the air and energy around them as well. Two different flows developed, as the inner ring rotated clockwise and the outer ring rotated counter to it. The clockwise rotation pulled inwards, the counterclockwise pushed outwards, and between them became void, while the interior space became condensed. As the monster saw what was happening it tried repeatedly to escape the encirclement, but each attempt ended pitifully as the lightning energy in the circuit would leap out and strike it if it got near the border. Jumping also had no effect, as the energy circulation created a dome of repulsive force facing inwards on it. This was a sealed space, created through the influencing of a relatively small amount of energy. Without a sufficiently powerful strike to disrupt it, or the ability to interrupt the circuit, there was no escape.

Fortunately for Yun, evil spiritual creatures were highly susceptible to Lightning elemental energy, and so this strange monstrosity was completely suppressed within this Bagua formation she had created.

This was Yun's first foray into creating an array, though she was unaware of the fact that she had created one, and sitting in the center of the array she was also protected by a circulation of Lightning elemental energy.
