3 The Test

"Now i will start to explain a few commom things that you all should learn." continued Ramon after all the children sitted in the chairs available to them, and Garsam was able to count about 30~40 other children and teenagers across the room, it appers that they boarded the airship in other Kingdoms.

"Well, everyone of you here was born with the talent for the elements or how we call Mana. Mana is the primal form that the elements find themselves in the air and in their chaotic form, forming thus Mana."

"Mana is ever present in our world and those at birth that can feel even the slightest of it's presence have the talent for become a mage, but don't think that just that is sufficient. Many talented ones that didn't even put the hard work thinking of themselves blessed died young or didn't even progress at all." He continue when everyone was silent and paying attention to him.

"A mage is one that through the use and refining of mana and it's myriads form, can manipulate and transform the natural order of the world for their will." At this point Ramon raised his hand a in his palm a small crystal of ice started to form and the temperature in the room started to drop sending shivers to all of them watching with amazed eyes.

"A few of you belongs to mage familys and have a basic understanding of mana but is better to still pay attention." He said when a few of the students here didn't appear that impressed.

"As you can see my affinity is with the ice element, and so i refine the mana in the air and store in my body transforming it in ice element for me to use as i wish. Of course if it was that easy we wouldn't need spells and techniques." Joked Ramon making the crystal in his hand disappear and slowly the temperature came back to normal.

With a crystal suddenly appering in his hand and a tent behind him Ramon became serious all of a sudden.

"Now i will test your affinitys, and yes, a few of you already know what affinity you have." He said looking at the desrespectful bunch from the mages family. "But this in my hands you test the degree of affinity and the degree of your mana sensibility, the degree varies from 1 to 5 with 5 being the best and 1 the worst, but not everything is set only because of these numbers, how far you can go on the path of magic is only yours to walk. Now form a line and one by one enter the tent." He completed, then entered the tent.

Garsam stoop up and looking at the line that started to form, went to the back seeing that he was one of the younger ones here and didn't want to go first, so that he could calm down and digest all the information just said.

Seeing the students entering and exiting one by one, sometimes with happy faces but most of the times sad, Garsam curiously perked his little ears to hear the conversation of those that had more knowledge, so he learned a few new things.

Apparently those sad ones were the ones where the degree of sensibility or affinity os 2 or bellow, since according to them, it would take decades if even possible to become official mages, than staying in the realm of apprentices forever. And those with a degree of 3 or higher on any of the tests already had a bigger chance to become a official mage, but was still a difficult path.

After waiting for almost one hour it was finally Garsam's turn.

Parting the entrance of the tent with shaky hands Garsam entered and what he saw surprise him, on the four corners of the tent were each with a floating ball of light that illuminate the entire tent, looking around he also realize that the interior of the tent was bigger than the outside, and in the center of the room was Roman sitted behind a table with the crystal ball in the center.

"Come here Garsam, don't need to be nervous." Said Ramon with a friendly smile. Garsam started to wonder why Ramon was nice to him, since when he was explaining things early he appeared rather cold to the others.

"Ok." replied Garsom, that looking at the smile of Ramon relaxed a little, so walking to the chair that was for him, he sitted and following the instructions put his right hand on the crystal and the waited.

Not long after he put his hand on the crystal it started to emit a strong red light and the fluctuations it emited although not as strong was also high.

"Good, i knew you would very talented, since you can feel such a clear fluctuation of the mana and elements a such a young age, it cleary indicated that, and now looking at the crystal ball it just proved what i thought." Said Ramon rather happy with the results, while Garsam looking at the crystal ball was rather lost not knowing if the results were good or not.

Looking at the expression of Garsam who didn't realize what his tests meant he explained in a even more friendly manner "Garsam you are very talented, your results show that you have a degree of 4 for fire affinity and for the sensing of mana the fluctuations show a degree between 3 and 4, so you could be said to be one of the most talented one that our academy recruited in the last hundred years."

"Haha my teacher sure is lucky, Garsam how about become a student under my teacher?" He asked not wanting to waste such a good opportunity.

Realizing that the results were better than he expected Garsam also started to get happy but listening to Ramon's question he couldn't but ask one of him own "But is that ok? your teacher is not here, and since i'm talented can't i be your student?"

"Haha that is ok don't worry, my teacher will even be happy to know that i got him such a good student, and i'm only a newly advanced mage, altought i could teach you, like you saw my element is of ice, complete opposite of yours that is the fire element but my teacher is a rare dual elemental grand mage of fire and wind elements so teaching you would be better." He replied remembering that when he got apprenticed under his teacher in a draw not knowing if that was his luck or not.

"Then ok! i will accept your teacher, Humm what is teacher's name?" Asked Garsam after accepting the invitation not knowing how to adress the one who was going to teach him as soon as he got at the academy.

"Our honorable teacher's name is Samuel Dakra"
