29 You Swine

"The spaghetti is ready." Zuna was still in her bunny onesie, as was Arius. "Hey, you know you have a hole in your onesie, right?"

He looked down at the dried blood. "Oh."

"Two holes, actually." Eirik had just come down the stairs.

"Yea, because of you." Arius reminded.

"Remember, you asked me to shoot you." Eirik gave him a side eye.

Arius smiled helplessly. There was that feeling again, like every simply fit together. He shook it off and went to go get the two boys.

"Dante, food's ready." He called up after going half way up the stairs.

"Mhm!" Dante hummed back. "I'll get Asrael."

Arius went back down, Eirik was sitting at the dining table, and Zuna was still in the kitchen.

"Hey Eirik, what's up with your ability?" Arius sat down across from the grim man.

"It's impossible to injure me, and I also have abnormal strength." The unenthusiastic way he talked made Arius frown.

"Is that all?" Arius had a feeling it wasn't.

"Dad doesn't like to talk about it, but he has this crazy ability that can make you feel as if you're living your greatest fears..." Zuna stopped talking for a moment before continuing, "Or sometimes greatest hopes, but that's a rarity."

"That's actually really cool." Since the moment Arius had met the man, he has been fearful. Though at the same time it was strange, because he felt that Eirik would never truly try to harm him.

Arius turned his head when he heard the sound of Dantes footsteps, along with Asrael's lazy walking. The younger one immediately went towards Arius, while Asrael slowly made his way towards the end of the table.

The table had six chairs, Eirik and Zuna sat across from Arius and Dante, while Asrael sat on the end.

"What are we having?" Asrael leaned his chin into the palm of his hand with his elbow balanced on the table.

"Spaghetti." Zuna told him.

He looked into the middle of the table. "Where is the sauce?"

"Arius didn't have the ingredients for it." She grudgingly looked at Arius, who simply smiled back.

"Then these are just plain noodles, woman!" Asrael seemed to be scolding her, and so he was met with Eirik's cold gaze. His stare was so icy that Asrael didn't notice that everyone else at the table was also glaring at him.

"Well, If you don't want it, you don't have to eat it." Zuna uttered, feigning helplessness.

"Uncultured brat, can't even recognize good food when he sees in." Arius shook his head in disappointment. Asrael was dumbfounded by those words, 'uncultured'? 'Good food'? Could Arius take responsibility for what he just said?

Dante looked at Arius, torn between notifying him of his mistake or simply agreeing with him. He didn't know what to say. Though on the bright side, Asrael was acting sort of normal again.

Asrael stood up and walked to the kitchen, leaving everyone else behind in their thoughts. Dante was weary, Arius was surprised, Zuna intrigued, and Eirik unreadable.

Arius watched him dig around in the fridge for awhile before turning his attention towards his own food. Zuna kept her gaze on Asrael as she ate, while Eirik and Dante didn't seem to care from the start.

"So, I really need to ask." Arius started, "Does anyone else feel like something here is missing?"

"Yea, sauce!" Asrael yelled in response, but was swiftly ignored.

"Something missing?" Zuna was confused. "I don't think so."

"Are you paranoid?" Eirik asked casually.

"Maybe." Arius kept eating.

"Aye Arius, do you have any basil?" Asrael asked from inside the kitchen. Their was no wall separating the rooms, but the counter had a ledge that didn't allow you to see inside too much of the kitchen.

"I don't know, I don't stock my kitchen." Arius shrugged. He'd only then realized that Asrael was cooking, and it was most likely sauce. It completely alluded him that whatever Asrael was making could potentially be good.

"Useless." Asrael muttered.

"Hey, your spaghetti is getting cold." Zuna notified him.

"Those are noodles, you swine." Asrael told her, not realizing that he had infuriated Eirik by simply calling her 'swine'.

Although Asrael didn't know of Eirik's increasing rage, everyone else did. He had insulted Zuna, of course her dad wouldn't be happy. Though, it's not like Asrael would care.

The entire house went into silence, all except for the crackling of the stove and the clanking of wood on metal.
