33 Take a Vote

The next day, Asrael didn't come out of his room, and somehow, the idea of locking his window no longer sounded good.

It was quiet all morning, Dante had slept in his own bed, and no one really spoke. it was only Eirik that seemed normal, but he didn't talk either.

"Arius?" Zuna couldn't take it anymore, she had been listless all day, and the guilt was eating at her. "I feel bad."

"Don't we all?" Arius wasn't too sure about Eirik though.

"It's my fault." She'd always been the type to go all out, often times treating danger with little caution.

"Yea, it is your fault," Arius didn't deny it, even though he wanted to. "But I suppose it's best this way."

"How is this better?" She was slightly irked. "I've basically traumatized him!"

"No, his fear has something to do with him making a mistake. You can tell by the way he refused your apology." Arius explained. "Hopefully, he'll either learn from that mistake, or try to fix it."

"I've still traumatized him..." Zuna didn't want to force the kid to change through traumatic experiences.

"Zuna, there is nothing you can do."

"Will he be okay?"

"Everything will be fine." Arius truly believed that everything would turn out okay. Even if it didnt, at least he knew now that Eirik's ability was truly formidable.

It wasn't until noon that something interesting happened. Arius got a call from David, telling him to check his mailbox. Apparently his private investigator licenses had come, but he never called David again to discuss it.

He was given a few options of things to investigate, and they weren't beginner cases. After looking the list over, he was leaning towards a specific case, but not because it involved puppies.

"What's that?" Dante saw the card in Arius's hand.

"My private investigator license." He told the boy.

Zuna perked up at that notion. "How did you get that?"

Arius sighed. "Long story." Not really, he just didn't want to explain that he was too lazy to put work into getting it. "Oh, I got a new job for the bunny gang."

"Can we change the name to 'bunny bunch'?" Zuna asked.

Arius was reluctant, since it was already established, but he still said, "Sure."

"Now, what's the job?" As she now found something to take her mind off things, she was no longer visibly upset.

"Well it's a few options, go get Eirik and I'll explain." Arius smiled, but it wasn't too bright. The thought of whatever happening in Asrael's room was enough to deplete his happiness by a lot.

"Okay." She ran out of the living area, then she went to knock on her father's door.

Arius watched as she left, then looked over at Dante who was standing at his side. Today they wore matching blue flannel shirts, and jeans made out of cotton and spandex.

"What should we do for dinner?" Arius didn't feel like deciding.

"Ask Asrael If he wants to cook." Dante had his small hands in his pockets.

"Sounds good." Arius nodded, as he already knew that Asrael was pretty good at cooking. "I need to buy more onesies."

Arius took his phone from his pocket and went to the website to quickly buy a new onesie for himself, and one for Asrael. He would likely have to coax him into though.

Eirik and Zuna came down, seeing Arius leaning against the wall in the living room with his phone, and Dante watching TV.

"Now what are the jobs?" Zuna asked as Arius looked up.

"Sit down first." Arius used one hand to motion for the couch. Once everyone was sitting, and the TV was off, he spoke. "One of the jobs is investigating stolen puppies, they are from a pet shop and extremely expensive breeds. I personally think that's the best job."

"Another, is investigating whether or not some guy is cheating on his wife, he's a politician. It's not really worth spending time on, but it's easy."

"The last job is catching someone who has already been proven to be selling illegal weaponry." Arius acted like this was a meeting. "Let's take a vote."

"Catching someone sounds the easiest." Eirik crossed his arms over his chest.

"Puppies!" Is what Dante decided.

"Can't we just do all of them?" Zune suggested.
