70 Arrogant Trash

The adoption center that hired them was one of the least influential stores for pets that existed within the market. However, they were honest people and had good products. The only reason they called any private Investigators was because the amount of compensation that the breeder asked for was rather high.

The breeder liked to remain lowkey, although he was still known for his money grubbing ways. In fact, it could be said that he was famous for his not-so-great personality, rather than his business.

"Let me get this straight... he said he didn't want to get the police involved, because he didn't want to blow it out of proportion? And yet he still asked for such an amount of compensation?" Asrael was in shock.

"Yes, that's about it." The manager confirmed.

"He's being too cocky!"

"Well, he can be cocky all he wants when there is no evidence against him." Arius smirked. "He understands the system, because he's done this before."

"He's been robbed before?" The manager was completely in the dark about the situation, and Arius didn't bother explaining.

"Sort of." Arius responded.

"Ha! He may understand the system, but does he know that we don't stick to the system?" Asrael gave a knowing glance at Arius, who in return smiled.

"What are you all getting at?" There was still one person with absolutely no clue as to what was going on.

"I'll explain when we get back." Arius stood up, and as he did, signaled Asrael to follow.

Arius already had the man's address, and he drove straight there. Anyway, there was still something off about the man. To be able to dupe so many people, he was already scum of the earth. Yet there would be much more to look at when they finally bust his ass.

The way there seemed like a usual neighborhood, without any abnormalities in sight, unless you count the crazy amount of cats that roamed about.

When they finally arrived, Arius wasn't surprised to see a rather extravagant house compared to its neighbors. The guy probably cheated a lot of people in more fields than just pets, so it was only natural. Arius also didn't expect him to have the 'stolen' dogs at his current home, so the two were really only there to feel the man out with the plus of any other pieces of information that they obtained.

Asrael knocked on the door, and they waited in silence for a few moments before they heard the sound of the door unlock and then creak open.

In the doorway stood a man, who in highschool was likely nicknamed 'skinny white boy'. If one had to guess, they would say his occupation was as a fast food employee, although his aura was that of arrogant trash.

"Hello, your name is Benjamin, correct?" Arius tried to start up a conversation.

"Do you need something?" The man named Benjamin seemed to be in a good mood, but he wouldn't put his ignorance aside.

Arius smiled amiably and nodded his head. "We heard you were a breeder, and me and my cousin here have been looking for a cute companion for our... grandmother."

Asrael glanced at Arius with a concealed surprise that Benjamin hadn't noticed.

"Go online." Benjamin was about to slam the door in there faces when Asrael suddenly stepped forward and caught the door.

His bright blue eyes grew a shade darker as he spoke, "Come on now, let's not do this the hard way, we know what you've done."

The man was spooked as he released the door and let Asrael pull it wide open.

"Haha, what are you talking about?" Benjamin may have been conceited, but under Asrael's gaze he couldn't help laughing nervously.

Arius stepped inside the house, looking left and right as he spoke. "Calm down, let's not scare the poor guy."

Asrael only curled his lips sinisterly, and although he was about the same height as Benjamin, he seemed like he stood far above him. "When have I ever been anything more than amicable? " The young teenager placed a hand on Benjamin's shoulder, pressing on him with his abnormal strength.

"Where are the dogs, Ben?" Arius looked over at the man who was now breaking out into a cold sweat.
