41 [Past] Revenge

It stayed silent, all except the sound of Delorah cleaning a wound and then sticking a needle into darkly tanned flesh, causing Kane to groan.

"Why are you keeping me alive?" Kane had calmed down considerably since moments ago.

"You'd be a great addition to my gang is all."

"You think I'm going to join you?"

"I don't think, I know."

"I'm still going to kill you."

"You have no reason to."

"You think my parents aren't enough reason?"

"They were trash. Scum."

"No they weren't!" Kane jolted forward.

"Hold still!" Delorah demanded.

"Kane." Asrael started. "What do you want the most in this life?"

"Revenge." He persisted.

"I can give you revenge, as long as it's deserved." Asrael offered.

What Kane wanted, was revenge on Asrael, but that wasn't the only person he held a grudge with. "What do you want from me?"

"I want you." Asrael then added on, "...to work for me."

'Couldn't you have left it at three words?' Delorah thought in disappointment.

"That's all?" Kane looked up.

"Yes, now tell me who it is you want dead." Asrael smiled in success.

Kane bit his bottom lip. "Kevin Hartnell."

"Why?"

There was an unbridled desire for blood in his eyes as he said, "He raped my sister."

Asrael didn't know he had a sister. "What's her name?"

"...Teri."

"Have her join the gang too then." Kane didn't respond, but Asrael took it as confirmation anyway.

Delorah finished bandaging the teenager up, then cut the zip tie holding his wrists together. He was free. "Come, we need to get you somewhere you can rest."

She helped him stand, then with a hand on her shoulder she led him out. Lufti stood waiting outside the room, and as soon as they left he went in.

"Asrael." Lufti walked in, he had Dark hair and lightly tanned skin.

"Yes?" Asrael looked over at the small window placed near the ceiling, letting in barely enough light.

"Kane Baldwin, his parents were collateral damage of a gang fight you took part in last year." Lufti liked to use big words, even as a thug.

"Oh, that's what happened?" Asrael looked at his right hand man.

"Kane knows that they died because of a gang fight, so your lie is pretty farfetched."

"Will he believe it?"

"It's not likely." Lufti sighed. "But we'll just have to wait and see."

As promised, Kane was given his revenge, and along the way, officially joined the gang. Him and his sister.

Kane was taught by Merlin to hold a gun, and Teri was trained to drive a getaway. Through it all, Kane kept his grudge against Asrael.
