23 A Deal

Arthur just tossed this matter at back of his mind. Sooner or later, he would have the time to investigate.

Clark Otto step forward and handed out a bunch of paper. Arthur looked at what is written on the paper and saw a bunch of sketches of armor parts and their measurements.

"Sir, this prototype is a revolution for all tier class hybrids and our lifelong dream with my old friend. As you can see, the measurements of the armor have already been done by the blacksmith association."

"As far as I can see, this armor will use precious metals and a single core to activate all of the parts. An artificial rune to power it up, huh."

The traditional way of creating an armor like the one Arthur is wearing is using heavenly materials like the black tree as the base material. But heavenly materials blessed by natural phenomena are rare and is only enough for a few parts. However, those parts are independently enhanced. Together, these parts will create a better tandem with a hybrid's main skill seed. It can also be equipped with several other skill seeds other than the ones already equipped with the body.

Just imagine having another layer of skill available for use depending on the mana capacity, the elemental affinity and mana efficiency of the user. Usually higher class hybrids are the ones who only wear such incomplete armors, it will be useless for the tier class hybrids because of their low mana capacity.

What Chairman Otto is proposing is to build a one piece body armor using a rune, coating the entire thing with enhancements. It will be very expensive but the gathering and preparing of materials are relatively easy. If they are successful with their plans, then even apprentice class hybrids can wear them.

Of course, there is also a few disadvantages of this prototype armor. First off, is the quality of the armor. Then, there is the matter of the maintenance of the base material used unlike the heavenly materials that only needs the mana of the user to repair.

"Sir, we would like to request you to give us some pointers about this. Maybe there are things we have missed or better metals that can fit the description of the measurements."

Arthur noticed that they have the idea of using Makariv Steel as the base material for the armor. Well, it is abundant, easy to forge, and very light. Compared to other materials, this must be the perfect solution to the job.

He was contemplating whether to accept this request or take another one. He had a few knowledge about smithing because of Kripkey's tutoring, but not enough to modify the designs.

If Kripkey was here, he would atleast have a suggestion. But there was this time that Kripkey told him a story about a kind of stone he was experimenting with.

"Obsidian stone". Arthur finally remembered the material and he absentmindedly blurted it out.

"Try coating it with melted obsidian. It will be a bit heavy, but the weight is tolerable for most hybrids anyway."

Kripkey also used Obsidian stone on his armor. It has a characteristic of protecting metal from rusting and and ability to deflect some damage from skills in magic form.

Chairman Otto and chief Orion were both delighted by the suggestion. They could not wait but to try it as soon as possible.

Lastly, it was Marty's turn to ask for the three favors. As it was already agreed upon, he asked for a promise to help the city in time of danger, just for one time. Arthur readily agreed and gave Marty a summoning bead that would notify him. He specifically told them that he would appear, or someone else on his behalf, one hour after the summoning bead is activated.

For his other two favors, he combined it to one request and that is a supply of mana capacity enhancing potions or anything that may help ranking up.

Arthur really can't give him the potions he was brewing for the past few days, that would lead back to him and he still have plans for them.

"I don't have such things on me right now but don't worry, within this two months, I will send someone to bring some potions that will satisfy your request."

"Now all of you leave, and help me bring back these 'elite' guards back to town. I still need this little girl."

Even if some of the people were a bit sad not being chosen for a single request, they already have a yellow skill seed, they still go home with a bit of profit. They could just sell these or trade it for things more compatible for them. They could even keep it and let their future heirs try to harmonize, difficult it may be.

After all of them went away, Arthur retrieved the eighteen chairs and the herbs then put them in to his spatial ring.

"Tell me little girl, why are you staying here?"

"What do you mean, sir? You are the one who commanded me to stay?"

"Let me rephrase it then, why are you on this city and going around like a rat at night with your little guards?"

Celica was shocked because they never even felt that they were being watched.

"I am here to gather intelligence about the city and the potential hybrids in it. If I deem it that the city has enough potential, then an invitation for a competition seven months from now will be handed out to the current chairman. I was also tasked to offer a deal with the representatives of the auction houses.
