86 Welcome back

Chang Wook slowly opened his eyes to a white ceiling. He felt tubes on his nose, which gave him oxygen. He had needles on both his arms and he felt so heavy he could hardly move. He slowly turned his head to look out the window to see it was daylight, but he was surprised when he saw the ocean. How far is he from Seoul? What day is it? He looked at the clock on the wall that also said the date. It surprised him to see he had been out for a whole week. But what was more shocking than seeing the ocean out his window and knowing he hasn't been conscious for a whole week was the fact that at the bottom of the bed, he saw his father, Han Soo, sleeping on a chair.

He heard the door open and saw his mother, Do Mi, enter with two cups of coffee. She screamed in surprise when she made eye contact with her son, dropping one of the cups of coffee. Han Soo woke up in a panic because of his wife's scream.

"Honey, he's awake!" Do Mi yelled "He's awake!" she rushed to Chang Wook's side, hugged him and kissed both his cheeks "My baby, you're okay, you're okay!" she said as she passed her hands through his hair.

Han Soo rushed to Chang Wook's side with a surprised expression that later turned into a smile and a chuckle of relief. He grabbed Chang Wook's hand and said "Welcome back. We missed you."

Chang Wook was surprised by this. His father wasn't one for saying sweet words and looking like he was about to cry "Welcome back" his father said once more and ruffled Chang Wook's hair. Chang Wook placed his other hand over his father's and tried his best to smile, even though it was hard. His father sniffled and let go saying he would get the doctor.

The doctor came inside the room with two nurses and examined Chang Wook. His throat was so dry that he couldn't ask where Ha Eun was or ask about Eun Ha's condition.

When the doctor was done examining him, he smiled and patted Chang Wook on the shoulder "Welcome to the land of the living Mr. Kim" the doctor said. "Well, you seem to be doing alright after just waking up, but you are still badly wounded so I suggest you remain here for at least 4 weeks and take rehabilitation classes for at least 3 weeks."

"So, he's going to be okay?" Do Mi asked the doctor. The doctor looked at her and nodded.

"Firstly, he needs some water and then some food, after being asleep for so long he must be famished," the doctor said. He then chuckled, bowed and later left the room.

Chang Wook saw his mother's eyes water and tears stream down her face, as she smiled happily. His father then wrapped his arms around her. The two of them looked at Chang Wook with smiles. He wanted to smile back but he was still worried about Ha Eun and Eun Ha.

He tried to mouth what he wanted to say and maybe his parents could read his lips, deduct what he wanted to say. Mi Do looked at him surprised.

"He's trying to say something!" she said as she looked at her son. It took a few tries but she and Han Soo were finally able to decipher what he was trying to say.

"Where is Ha Eun?"

The couple looked at each other with saddened expressions.

"Silly boy…The first thing you do when you wake up is wonder where she is" Do Mi's eyes watered once more, then she turned her back to him. Han Soo looked down with saddened expression, then his expression turned to anger and yet angry at the same time as he stormed out of the room.

A nurse came into the room right after he left. She carried a glass of water for Chang Wook to drink. When he drank it all he asked his mother again "Mom, where is Ha Eun?"

Do Mi looked at him "She transferred you to this hospital called us to let us know where you were and hung up. We tried calling her but she said she didn't want to know anything about you and refused our calls" Do Mi was angry for her son and pitied him as well. Her husband got shot and almost died, yet she just transferred him to a hospital in Jeju Island and refused to see him.

Chang Wook couldn't wrap his head around this. Ha Eun doesn't want to see him? He could understand if she was angry; he did a careless thing without telling her and got shot. He understood if she were angry but she transferred him all the way to Jeju Island and refuses to even talk to him or his parents?

No, there is definitely a reason for what Ha Eun did. She never does things without first weighing all the options.

"What about Eun Ha?" Chang Wook asked, "Where's Eun Ha?"

Do Mi didn't know who he was talking about "Who's Eun Ha?" she asked him.

Chang Wook bit his lip, no one knows about Eun Ha "Did anyone else come with me?" he asked his mother. Do Mi thought about it.

"There was a little girl that came with you but she was taken to a different room," Do Mi said, "Do you know her?"

"Ha Eun and I…" Chang Wook suddenly felt a huge pain in his abdomen and couldn't finish what he was saying. Do Mi widened her eyes in shock.

"You have a daughter?" Do Mi asked. Chang Wook widened his eyes and shook his head "You had a daughter without telling us?!" Do Mi got angry.

"It's not like that mom" Chang Wook said but she stormed out of the room. He could hear her outside screaming to someone to show her where her granddaughter was.

Now that Chang Wook was all alone, he wondered what was Ha Eun's plan. Knowing how she works, she probably already knows who hurt him and Eun Ha, so why transfer them? She's planning something, that's for sure.

He turned on the TV and it was in an entertainment channel directed to talking about famous people. They were talking about OG Group, specifically Ha Eun. The headline was "Trouble in Paradise?" they mentioned how they've seen Ha Eun alone and how Chang Wook is no longer going to work. They wondered if Ha Eun dumped him and then fired him.

"Never date your boss folks," said one of the announcers with a chuckle.

They then talked about Chang Wook being nowhere to be found, the headline changed to "The missing husband" They showed a video of paparazzi at his parent's house. His grandmother, Soo Ryun, was on TV acting worried and saying she didn't know where he was.

"He's not the type to just run off. Something happened. I just know it" she said.

Chang Wook was confused by this. Why would his grandmother act like she doesn't know where he is? Then it all clicked. The paparazzi drag things on, longer than any news channel and make things sound more interesting. It's a trap!

Now that he thought about it. He asked for Bong Chol's help before he went with those men. He asked for Bong Chol to track his location and remain on the phone. He told him that after a few minutes of talking he should call the police.

Chang Wook also set his phone to voice recording and hid the phone in the front of his pants. Where he knew those men wouldn't touch. But, where is his phone?

The phone is direct proof of what happened. Chang Wook's testimony and Eun Ha's wouldn't be enough in court with the lawyers Woo Yeon would get. They'll say it was too dark for him to see and completely ignore Eun Ha's side of the story because she's a little kid.

He needs to get in touch with Ha Eun. Whatever the trap is, she doesn't need to do it if they have the phone.
