5 Chapter 4 - Extra

"I'm exhausted"

I sighed as I flopped down the bed. I just recently came back from Mrs. Daisy's abode. Who would have thought that a couple of the fae who had lived for who knows how many generations could behave like a couple of teenage girls?

"If only Mrs. Rowan is here."

Mrs. Rowan is the banshee familiar of the Crowes, my father's family. She is a tall and lanky old woman with a strict and no-nonsense attitude, which is rather striking in a family known for eccentrics. Surprisingly, I got along well with her staid presence.

That being said, I should find a way to go back there somehow. The last topic of discussion to that tea party was on how to deal with the Marchioness. I'm all on letting her be, but a Brownie's pride is on the line and if one angers the fae, one must be prepared for the consequences. The crowd's favorite suggestion (proposed by Anne) is for her to pretend to br the Marchioness and humiliate her thoroughly i public. Unfortunately, her idea of humiliation is either petty, such as stepping on her skirt and falling down in public, or vulgar, like framing her as an adulteress. The former will have very little impact (if any) while the latter... I shudder to think of the consequences of that to the family. I would rather avoid the Marquis and Rufus to be caught up in this as both were not only innocent, but were generally nice people. In the end, I suggested a labor strike, in which Mrs. Daisy would go off on a vacation for a while, preferebly to my old home. Despite some protests from Anne, I managed to persuade Mrs. Daisy as that is the home her sweet little Susannah had made since marrying and leaving the manor. Besides, most of the viable food is actually made by Mrs. Daisy since the human cook not only does not really know how to cook, but is rather lazy as well. This would serve as an annoyance (more of an inconvenience, really) to the Marchioness, who is known to be picky with her food. Won't that affect the Marquis and Rufus, you ask? Well, aside for breakfast, the Marquis usually eats outside while Rufus usually stays at the boarding house in his school except during holidays. As for the breakfast preparation, It's the kitchen maid who does that since the head cook is still not up at that time. If I remeber correctly, school will resume classes next week so we timed Mrs. Daisy's vacation until Rufus leaves. As for me, the grounds are vast and there is an enchanted forest nearby, so I doubt I would be anywhere near the kitchens nor the dining room during mealtimes.
