Chapter 1

The wind is breezy and cool against my skin. It whispers to me from its long travel in other places. It's quiet but not peaceful. The wind is alarmed and scared. I get the sense that something very dangerous and frightening is going to happen soon. I don't know what it is, but all I do know is that the kingdom of Landir calls for me. No, not the kingdom, "someone" in Landir calls for my help. They are in trouble. She is in trouble. A figure above me appears to me ghostly. She is beautiful and young with her soft green eyes and long pink hair. She is small but slender and I feel attached to her. She then calls my name, "Blake."

"BLAKE!" calls my griffon Gami as I scream from the sudden pain in my head. What just happened? Who was that girl? Then my my cheek starts to sting from the slap Gami throws at me.

"What was that for?" I whine.

"You've been asleep for way too long. I grew worried because you were sweating and looked agitated. Are you alright?" Gami says.

"Yes I'm okay. Just don't do that again, please," I'm not okay. I'm suddenly alarmed by the dream I just had. "Hey, lets go eat, I'm starving."

"I would love that."

Gami and I get up from our campsite in the woods and hide our weapons. I go to the river to look at my reflection. My white blonde hair has become dirty from all of our traveling. My eyes are tired and weak and I am not the same person. Gami and I have been running for a long time ever since our kingdom was destroyed. Treelest is no more, and it's all my fault. After everything was gone in seconds, Gami flew me away far from the silent chaos. Far from my mom, my dad, my friends. Gami is all I have left, he's my pet but my companion. He was the only one to explain to me that people want to kill me, because I am the last white shadow wizard. My kingdom died because of my ignorance. So we have been hiding ever since, and everyone thinks I'm dead. But Gami has been training me to become a warrior, so I can fight whoever is after me. I still don't know what enormous force of midnight destroyed my home, but when I find them I will kill them.

"Gami?" I stand up and walk over to Gami

"Yes Blake?"

"We have to go to Landir," I say. His eyes widen in fear and confusion.

"Why is that? Do you not know of the dangers in Landir?"

"No, I do not. All I know is that someone needs me, right now. This has been the only sign of trouble since they killed everyone. If this girl is in trouble, I bet it's the same people that killed our family." My jaw tightens at the memory, the scar on my heart.

"Then I will be with you, on this journey to whoever has called for you. We must be aware though, because who knows what obstacles we'll face in Landir. The kingdom of shadows." I look at him scared by what he just said

"Shadows?"

"Yes, shadows."

Ideas and realizations start to swirl in my head as I reflect on other things I've been told throughout my life. Kids stories, and songs, and morals about shadows. If I am a white shadow wizard, then that can only mean the people who are after me, the people that killed my home, the people that are putting this mysterious girl in danger, are the ancient shadow wizards.

"Gami! We must pack immediately. This girl cannot wait longer than she should because we want to eat."

He whines at me angrily. "Fine, we will begin our travel. Stay cautious and keep your sword close."

I look up to the cloudy sky. I'm coming for you, whoever you are. And when I find you, I will save you from these creatures.
