1 New Guy

I walked into a room and everything around me suddenly seemed to disappear into nothingness. I saw my mom on a hospital bed, as I ran towards her, she flatlined. This kept happening over and over again in a loop. And then I heard someone calling me, " Hey, wake up." Repeatedly. I woke up crying uncontrollably. I had this dream every now and then after my mom died. She was the only family I had. Just me and mom. Someone hugged me, I didn't know who it was but I hugged them back and just cried until there was no tears left. "Shhhh, it's okay, everything is gonna be fine," it was the most soothing voice I had ever heard. I looked up to see him, but I couldn't see clearly. I panicked and then I realized that my bangs were in the way. I seriously need to cut them. After I got it out of the way, I saw an unfamiliar face. His brown eyes stared at mines. After what seems liked forever, he helped me up. " Sorry, you had to see that," I apologized. "It's fine, umm..we should get to class, lunch was over like 20 minutes ago." I panicked right after he said that. I didn't even know how I fell asleep. Since we were already outside and there was only one more class left, we decided to ditch. We went to the cafe near the school. I got to know him a bit better after spending some time with him. He's a transfer student from China, his name is Han, and he's new here. I tried to hide from the barista at the cafe, but thanks to Han he saw me. "Why aren't you at school Jen, " he asked. Damn it. When will he stop acting like he's my brother or something? Geez. "There's only one more class left, and I was late for like 20 minutes so..," I tried to defend myself. He just shook his head and turn to Han, " This one is a handful, if I were you I stay away," he said jokingly. I know he was just joking but it was kind of true, and that hurts. Before me and Han left, Joshua "the barista ", gave me cream bread like he always does even though I refuse every time. This guy is too good to be true. Han walked me home, and I thanked him. He noticed that I lived alone, and he looked at me worried. "It's okay, I'm fine," I laughed at his expression. We exchange numbers so we could keep in touch. After he left, I ate the bread Joshua gave me. He's a pain in the neck but he makes really good bread. This was the first day I actually felt like I wasn't alone.
