1 chapter 1

Catherine

I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing as my alarm went off. I quickly woke up and dismissed the alarm not wanting to get out of my warm bed.

As I put my head back on the pillow to sleep again, my side table alarm went off. I turned it of as I roughly placed my head on the pillow again only to here another alarm go off under my pillow.

"Okay, I get it. I have to go to school!!" I yelled as the alarm crashed on the ground. "Damn it." I spat as I got out of bed. I walked into the bathroom and undressed as I went under the cold shower.

I walked out of the bathroom and got dressed in black jeans with knee rips, a black spaghetti top and a red hoodie. I finished the look with black and white converse and tied my hair in a messy bun. I grabbed my book bag, keys, wallet and phone then walked down stairs.

"Morning mom?" I greeted as I dropped my bag and took a bite out of the sandwich she left on the counter. "Morning cathy? How was your night?" She asked, "it would have been much better if you weren't snoring so loudly. I could literally hear you from my room." I joked faking the irritation on my face making her chuckle.

"Oh, I snore? Atleast I don't sleep with my mouth open and drool all over the place." She said making us both chuckle. "Sorry about the alarms by the way." She apologized, "It's okay, but I don't get why you did it. I'm way too early anyway." I said.

"Didn't you mention having a math test today?" She asked as shock filled my face in the realization. I quickly took my phone out of my hoodie pocket to check the time.

"Oh no! The test begins in 15 minutes and I have to get there in less than ten mom, come on." I said while pulling her to the car. "Hey, I didn't even have breakfast." Mom said as I locked the front door. "You'll order, now come on." I said as I opened the door and slid in the passenger's seat. She got in and started the car and I studied as she was driving.

"We're here." Mom stated, "thanks." I said after kissing the back of her hand. " I love you!" She yelled as I got out of the car shutting the door behind me. "You too!" I yelled as I ran into the school. I went straight to class because I already had my books for the period.

As I was about to enter the room, I bumped into someone making me stumble back in pain. "I'm so sorry, I should have looked where I was going." I said before looking up at the guy standing in front of me.

"Be careful next time. You don't want to break something." He said as he looked into my brown eyes and smiled then walked away making my heart throb.

Chad. I said to myself.

I got into class and made a sigh of relief to see the teacher was not there yet. I prepared my desk for the test as the teacher handed out the papers.

I started answering the questions on the paper with a smile as I realized I knew everything on it. I quickly scribbled down my answer until I was done and the bell rang. The teacher collected the papers as everyone left the room.

I went over to my locker to get my books for the next few periods and a girl approached me. "Hi Catherine?" She greeted, "hello Abigail?" I greeted back.

"Did you finish the assignment I gave you?" I asked, "yes, here it is." She said as she handed me the pamphlet. "I'll be sure to look at it before I leave." I said to her. "okay. Um... Catherine? I don't think I'll be able to make class today." She said, "why? What's wrong?" I asked concerned. "Well I'm going to see the doctor today in about an hour and I'm not sure how long it will take. So can we do it tomorrow?" She asked making me nod.

"Of course. Nothing is more Important than your health." I said. "Thanks for understanding. She said before she walked away with a smile, making me smile as well.

I run a tutoring business. I tutor juniors like Abigail. For such a small thing, it sure pays well if you're good and are hitting the right market. I choose juniors because they are easier to control and parents, especially rich ones, pay a lot for their kids to get better grades. And also I choose juniors because the more they make it a habit to study, the more I get paid. And also, I charge extra for students who require me going to their homes. It's good business.

I turned my head back to my locker as I grabbed the last book and shoved it in my bag. I turned after closing my locker only to see Chad and his group of friends from a distance. He looked so hot as he smiled into the wind that flew by from the windows.

His beautiful dark brown eyes met mine as he was saying goodbye to his friends and walking towards me. I couldn't afford talking to him so I turned on my heel and ran to my next class. I relaxed before seeing him walk into the class as his eyes continued to burn my skin.

My lips parted in shock at how we were in the same class as his curled upwards into a smile. He was about to take the seat next to me when Rachel beat him to it. She was my only senior student whom I took in English.
