I Promise Erwin!

[Eren's POV]

(Before Erwin died and before Eren met Levi)

I walked up to the door to my warehouse and inserted the key into the lock. There was a click and I turned the doorknob, "Erwin you here!?" I shouted walking inside. There was a loud snore and I gazed around the room, spotting a certain someone sleeping on the couch. I threw a bag at him "Oi! I got your food!" he groaned and sat up "Took ya long enough Eren." , "Yeah yeah, be lucky I got you anything Erwin."

Erwin took me in as a kid after my parents were murdered by some thugs. He taught me how to fight, he taught me how to steal when it benefits you. But one thing he told me was "Never kill anyone." I never knew why he told me that though, but I listened to it.

"How's your friend Levi?" I asked. Erwin looked at me and smirked "Same as usual, being himself." I glared at him "You gonna tell him who you really are?" Erwin looked down at the floor "I could never do that." I laughed "Well it's not like you won't be alone if he leaves, you have me." he smirked "I think you two would get along well, he's your age ya know." I looked at him "You need to start hanging around people more your age Erwin."

He stood up and ruffled my hair "Does that mean I should stop hanging around you?" I glared at him "No..." truthfully Erwin has been hanging around that Levi guy a lot and hasn't even mentioned me to him, though I am a criminal but how long will it take for Levi to find out Erwin is a criminal? And would if Levi turns him in..what then?

"Eren you need to stop worrying about me so much."

"Tch who will worry about you then? You old man."

You could say Erwin was like a Father to me, that's what most people we know say anyways.

"Why don't me and you go to the club, along with Armin and Mikasa?" I smiled "Yeah let's do that."

It was dark now, me and Erwin made our way to the club. Along with Armin and Mikasa "It's been a bit since we've all been together!" Armin shouted happily. Me and Armin were like brothers, though his happy ass can get on my nerves sometimes. "Yeah I missed Eren." Mikasa said sending me a smile, I rolled my eyes. Everyone knew Mikasa loved me, but she knew I could never return those feelings. I only love her as a friend, nothing more, nothing less.

We arrived at the club not to long after and walked in, there weren't many people. Just a couple of gangs and criminals, Armin and Mikasa had serious expressions and glared at anyone who stared at them. We were in the danger zone now.

After a couple rounds of drinking and laughing we decided to call it a night. We were all headed the same direction though, we turned the corner and saw a couple of guys in front of us. Erwin stopped walking, along with me, Mikasa and Armin. "Erwin Smith, where's the money you owe us! it's been 5 months! Surely you should have it by now!" a guy with blond hair and a beard shouted. I looked up at Erwin in confusement.

"I don't have the money yet Zeke, You'll have to wait a little longer." Erwin replied. Zeke laughed and a couple guys behind him joined in, "Wait a little longer he says" he took out a gun and aimed it at Erwin "I'm done waiting." I felt hands grab me and turned to see a brown haired man "Let me go." I demanded, but his grip only tightened.

"Eren!" Mikasa and Armin shouted in unison, Mikasa was about to help me when another blond haired man grabbed her. Armin stood there in shock not knowing what to do, sure he was a criminal, he could shoot if he had a gun but without one he's defenseless. I don't want him to get hurt "Armin run!" I shouted, he looked at me, I nodded. He hesitated at first and then took off running.

Erwin stood there calmly, he looked like a total bad ass. He's got to be planning something, Zeke still had his gun aimed at him. We made eye contact for a split second and then he smirked "Bertholdt let the kid go." the man who was holding me removed his hands from around me.

BAM!

There was a painful feeling in my shoulder and I felt blood flow down my arm. I yelled out in pain and fell to my knees "Eren!" I heard Mikasa shout. She stepped on the guy's foot and banged her head into his chin "Reiner go get the blond kid who got away would ya." The blond guy Mikasa just beat up nodded and ran in the same direction Armin did. Damn it! "Mikasa you gotta go help Armin." she looked at me in shock and was about to protest "Now! Go Now! I'll be ok!" I shouted. She nodded and ran after the guy.

It was just me and Erwin now against Zeke and a couple other guys "I wonder what would happen if I took someone important to you." Zeke stated with a smile. Erwin glared at him "Leave Eren alone. He has nothing to do with this."

BAM!

There was now a bullet hole on the ground in front of me. I sat there shaking, "I can still hurt him. Innocent or not. I could kill him right now." Zeke aimed his gun at my head and pulled the trigger. I closed my eyes.

BAM!

Nothing. I didn't feel anything. I heard police sirens and opened my eyes. Zeke was running away with some guys following behind. I looked down in front of me and saw Erwin's body, "Erwin!" I shouted. I moved closer to him and checked his pulse, there was blood coming from his stomach. He was breathing slowly, "Erwin stay with me!" I felt a hand grab mine and heard him laugh "Stop yelling would ya. You are one loud kid."

"I'm not a kid! I'm 23....." I felt tears fill my eyes.

"Eren, promise me you'll stay yourself. Even if I'm gone promise you won't break. Promise you'll find Levi and be there for him." I shook my head no "Stop talking like you're gonna die." he smirked "Look at me. I'm losing blood. I can hardly breathe. I'm not gonna make it." he put his other hand on my head and rustled my hair "Eren.....did I ever....tell you....how important....you...are to....me?" his hand fell from my head and his breathing stopped.

"Erwin? Erwin! ERWIN PLEASE! PLEASE WAKE UP! DON'T GO!" I started crying even more and laid my head on his stomach, not caring that I was getting his blood all over me. "Erwin....please...you can't go..." The police sirens got louder, I placed Erwin's hands on his stomach and got up running away.

"I promise Erwin. I promise!"

And I'm so gonna kill that Bastard! He's gonna pay for killing you!
