Julian

The Diamandis Enterprise.

It began as a small family jewelry shop at a corner in Greece to become one of the world's fastest-growing jewelry magnates, along with their other vast businesses worldwide. The family was the definition of rags to riches story. The heads of the family, Aindrea and Aileen, were well-known for their philanthropy as well as their business prowess. Their youngest daughter, Alecta, built her brand from scratch as a leading fashion designer and model. The only son of the Diamandis family, Ajax, was known as the playboy but ruthless in business CEO of the Enterprise.

And yet, here he was, twenty-seven years of age, whining because he didn't want to go to a meeting.

"But do I really really have to go? I mean Jacob could go in my place. Tell them I'm out of the country or something. Say anything."

"Ajax. Jacob has been covering for you for these weeks you decided to go on a vacation. Let the man have a break then do his real job."

"But stillllllll...", he whined.

"I don't get paid enough for this", I muttered under my breath as I looked away to the giant window view of Dew City's skyline.

The sun was setting soon and the buildings were lighting up slowly. You could see so far from Ajax's office on the 95th floor and it made me marvel sometimes. I looked back at Ajax as he walked towards me from his desk. I stood still at where I was at my spot the door, very much professionally. I squinted at him as he got closer till he stood right in front of me, very little distance between our bodies. Our slight height difference became very much noticeable to me as I had to tilt my head a little to look him in the eyes. He was smirking, I rolled my eyes. He leaned down just a little to kiss me, I presumed.

I had him on his knees with his hands pinned behind his back in one swift move before he even had a chance. He groaned then chuckled when I released him. He straightened up then shrugged.

"Well, it was worth a shot."

"Ajax..."

"I know, I know", he paused, "but it still does not take away the fact that I really really like you so I'll not give up no matter", he said with some new determination.

I sighed then said, "They are waiting for you."

He huffed in defeat and walked out of the office, with me following him as usual.

It was 11:05 pm when we finally arrived at the penthouse. The morning shift of guards had been replaced with the night shift ones. I left Ajax in the living room as I went to ensure the routine nightly checks were done. Marcus, who was in charge of the night shift guards, was the only one with me as we scanned through security camera footage to ensure that no one suspicious had been around Dew City's most earning billionaire, Ajax. I  had been carefully taking note of anyone who looked a little too suspicious when Marcus drew my attention to something.

"Boss, come look at this", he said, as he made space for me to see what he had noticed.

He was pointing at a person on the frozen screen. I squinted at the figure in a ridiculous wig and a trenchcoat. I was about to assume it was probably someone with a strange hobby but then it clicked.

"Miss Parker? Marcus, what time was that?"

"9:49 pm, Boss."

"Contact the job agency for Miss Parker's records and get someone, Wade, to keep an eye on her for the meanwhile", I instructed.

He nodded then called Wade before I left the security room to allow the others to take their post. When all checks were completed, I made my way to Ajax's bedroom then knocked and entered after he responded. He stood by the gigantic wardrobe in nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. It was not an uncommon sight so I was not fazed by it. He walked over to his king-sized bed to pick up a discarded towel to clean his wet hair with.

"Anything new? odd?"

It was my duty to report any oddity to him at the end of the day before I retire for the day. Usually, there was nothing new to report or sometimes there were occasional paparazzi around but nothing too dangerous. The safety of a billionaire was something that could not be compromised.

He slung the white towel over his shoulder, a contrast to his golden-toned skin. He was still wet and his attempt at drying his hair was futile as water droplets still dripped from the wavy black strands. I ignored it this time and spoke in a professional tone. At this moment, he was not my friend but my boss and I was his bodyguard and head of security.

"9:49 pm, a figure identified as Miss Sophie Parker was seen on cams dressed suspiciously. I made arrangements to view her records in case of any instances occurring before in her work time at other stations."

"Who is that?", he asked.

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

"Miss Parker is the woman from this morning."

"Oh yeah, her. Could she back to exact some form of revenge because of being fired?"

"Possibly. It wouldn't be the first time."

He nodded then said, "Handle it quickly."

I nodded then proceeded to leave the room but was stopped when he spoke again.

"Julian."

I turned to him. He was sitting on the bed now, with a smirk on his face. He was back to his flirty self, I could tell. He sat in a relaxed pose, leaning forward with the towel hanging on for dear life. His posture made him look broader and a little taller than his 6'3'' height. He pushed the wet locks of his hair from his face then said,

"Won't you give me a good night kiss?"

I quirked a brow at the probably seductive sight, I couldn't tell. I was not the least bit seduced at the moment. I let out a breath of a laugh then said,

"Good night, Ajax."

I did not look back when I walked out and shut the door behind me. I heard his frustrated groan from inside, then his sigh. I would probably never completely understand why after every time he got shot down by me, he still attempted to woo me. Was this the way love worked or it was just his playboy attitude and tendencies at work?

I left the penthouse after ensuring my night replacement was present and everything was in order.

Love? Yeah, sure...
