Chapter 30

After lunch Allan thanked Sara for the meal, left the inn and headed down an alley away from the busy area he was in.

After a few minutes of walking, he found himself in front of a small and almost crumbling store away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the town.

After a few moments Allan entered the store.

The interior had not changed much since the last time he was here, maybe it had a little more dust, but it is clear that the owner did not care much about the state of the store.

"Welcome"

Almost the same moment he entered Allan heard a voice sounding right behind him.

Anyone else would be startled, but Allan was already used to Roderick's peculiarities, after all he had already been here several times.

"Hi" Allan said without changing his expression.

"You're no fun" Roderick said without changing the tone of his voice.

"I want to buy poison"

Hearing what Allan asked for, Roderick stared at Allan and said:

"You know that this is an illegal substance, right?"

"And?"

"Nothing, just saying" responded Roderick while shrugging his shoulders.

"Besides it's not like I don't have any, but I just don't want to sell it to you"

Allan couldn't help frowning at Roderick's response. Although they had transacted with him before, Roderick was still as insufferable as ever.

"What I'm looking for is not illegal poison, it's wolf poison," Allan finally said.

"Ahh, your fight against that dog, huh? Everybody is talking about how a stranger is getting their ass kicked over and over again "

"Whatever, I'm still not willing to sell it to you"

At this point Allan felt the urge to draw his sword and cut the alchemist in two but he knew that not only would he die, but also he would not get what he wanted.

So Allan didn't say anything, he just took a bag out of his inventory and put it on the table.

Curious, Roderick went to see what he had in the bag.

"Oh, so you can already hunt these"

In the bag there were bones larger than those of a wolf, they were the bones of a wild boar.

Now Allan can proudly say that he has hunted every species on Tutorial Island, goblins included.

Although people think that wild boars are the most ferocious and difficult beasts to hunt that is a lie.

Wild boars are very docile animals that do not usually attack anyone except in special circumstances. If you want to hunt a wild boar, all you have to do is provoke it and lead it to a trap prepared in advance.

Goblins are another story.

Goblins are not animals, they are monsters. The scholars delimited the difference between the two for a long time according to a very vague definition: A monster is any being with intelligence superior to an animal but inferior to a human.

This definition caused many internal conflicts about which beings had human-like intelligence and which did not, which caused policies of discrimination against other races, as it was and is currently one of the main arguments of people in favor of slavery. At least according to the records in the library.

Regardless of Allan's opinion in relation to this issue, it is undeniable that goblins possess intelligence superior to that of an animal since they can use and make weapons, as well as prepare traps.

Allan was ambushed by three of them in one of his adventures in the forest, fortunately the goblins have the strength of a common wolf so Allan was able to defeat them.

Even so, he still is not capable of defeating the big gray, that means that the strength of the big gray is better than what Allan had estimated, so Allan decided to face him with the help of poison to try to reach the intermediate level in swordsmanship.

After seeing the boar bones, Roderick took a jar out of his pocket and handed it to Allan.

Allan took the vial containing poison, seeing it he realized two things:

One, the poison was the real deal, among all the news he got from Roderick there was none that said his products were of poor quality.

And two, Roderick was ripping him off again.

Although the poison will work against the wolf, the amount that Allan had in his hand was miniscule compared to the value of the bones that Allan gave away.

Allan said nothing, put the bottle in the inventory and went to the door, he knew that if he begins complaining about the amount he would not get out of there alive.

Seeing that it was late, Allan returned to the inn and logged out of the game.

...

"Ahh, I'm alive" Jake said with beer in hand.

"Exaggerated"

"Shut up, you have no idea how long I've been without a beer"

Allan and Jake were in his bar chatting about what he had done these days, since their first meeting after the incident they decided to meet here from time to time.

"Oe, the holidays are going to end, what are you going to do with the game?" asked Jake curiously.

Jake knew that Allan was dedicating a significant portion of his time to Idle Online, but summer is over and classes are getting closer.

If Allan chooses the classes, then he will be overtaken by the players who came before him, after all the 1: 4 time difference is not a joke. Attending college classes will consume 5 days game time each week.

Although the game is not very popular the players are increasing little by little, especially with veteran players it is impossible to close that gap.

Jake knows that Allan will not drop out of college to not worry his parents, so he wants to know what Allan will do.

"I've already thought about it, I'm going to use that method" Allan said as he looked at his beer.

"Ahh, virtual classes." Jake realized that he was speaking about.

Thanks to the capsules, people have a greater amount of free time, a portion of the population thinks that if the means of learning are not adapted, students will be wasting time that they could use to improve.

But although virtual classes exist, not everyone is in favor of them.

"Weren't you against going to virtual classes?" Jake asked.

"Yes, just like you"

One of the reasons why there are students who attend face-to-face classes is because in virtual classes you learn through a program, while if you go to university the professors, who are experts in the field and will be able to answer any questions you may have.

However, the biggest reason Allan and Jake are against virtual reality classes is that virtual classes are conducted alone, which means losing a big part of the value of going to college, meeting people, doing contacts and enjoy youth, you lose all these things in the process.

Jake, as the social butterfly that he is think it is not worth.

"Have you thought about it? You're risking a lot" said Jake.

If Allan stops attending the classes it will means that all his efforts until now to curry the favor of the professors will be lost, alongside a lot of opportunities, some of which he had in his grasp.

"Yes,"

"I have already requested the application; I am going to have classes in my capsule"

Thank you Nicleback and FallenSol for your power stones.

All help is appreciated.
